We were taught honesty, compassion, personal strength and accountability. I was lucky enough in 8th grade to score at a 12th grade reading level, and a 10th grade math level. My scores were *not* special compared with my fellow students. I don't have kids, but my friends went on to send their children to MDS and were quite happy they did. I have continued to maintain some contact with the community and staff over the years. (it was an important place to me) and though some of the the people and practices have changed to match the times, it's clear to me MDS has remained committed to those core Montessori values and continues to offer an excellent education. There is just one thing about the Montessori Method. To work well it needs parents who are willing to _actually parent_ their children and who are in a place to take an active role in their child's development, both in celebrating their successes and clearly perceiving where their child needs to put effort into growing and learning... because children are *always* growing and learning. Every moment of life is an educational one. Of note - There are a couple reviews here that feel as though the person in question more interested in having the MDS do the schooling, the parenting, everything. Children do best when parents are willing to put in the work with Montessori. Beats all other educational systems IMO!

My Kindergartener has far exceeded the expectations of that grade level in the schools I have taught. My kids love going to school and participating in the variety of after-school and summer programs. This school has a dedicated and highly trained staff with virtually no turn over or inconsistencies. You will be lucky if they have space as their enrollment grows due to word of mouth of their exceptional services. If you truly know education and what environments foster the personal and academic growth of children, you will not be disappointed in this school!

Lead teacher provided false information to my family member after an incident report involving their child. Online meals percentages for the children is measured as "Some, All or None" is that measurable? Kids were literally shaking hungry at 5pm. Always thirsty! So so ssd! Open enrollment and full-day kindergarten opportunities are available at all schools. Gifted Services are offered at all schools, with approximately 1,700 students being challenged beyond the traditional classroom setting, including two self-contained programs that serve highly gifted students. Music, art, and physical education programs are offered in all District schools. Acacia Elementary is an A+ School of Excellence. Abraham Lincoln Traditional School is an excelling school, featuring open enrollment. Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy for grades 5-8 provides small-school experience through a community partnership with Cardinals Charities, University of Phoenix and Communities in Schools of Arizona. This school use to be a great school. I attended this elementary school and never had any issues…read moreuntil my children attended here. I did not have any issues while my son attended k-4th; however, once he entered 5th grade everything went downhill! Bullying is a major issue at this school. My son was continuously bullied and nothing was done until my son took matters into his own hands. He had to start protecting himself and fight back. He was literally drop kicked onto his tail bone. The student was at school the very next day with no consequences. Other incidents occurred with other students when finally my son had enough and fought back. I was contacted that he hit a student with his binder in the head after the other student knocked items out of his hand and attempted to steal his book that he purchased from the book fair. Also, while this was going on with my son, my daughter entered kinder here! She was repeatedly punched on a daily basis from the same student. Paula, the principal, tried to tell me the majority of the children do not know how to interact with other children and in a classroom setting. I understand that; however, this happened on a daily basis and nothing was done to the student. I was also told that my daughter, in kinder at this time, was falling behind. My daughter was reading before she even started at this school! Thankfully I was able to move her to another school where she is succeeding now and was tested for gifted classes. Now, what does this say about the teachers here? The moment I move my child and she is succeeding! Her reading level is three grade levels above her grade level. I highly recommend looking into an alternative school if possible. I was lucky enough to be able to move my children.

The teachers genuinely care about the futures of the students and go way out of their way to give the kids the best education and school experience. They also have smaller class sizes so they are able to give the kids the attention that they need. I'm so grateful for everyone at Pima who makes it great. My child loves going to school everyday and looks forward to being there which is something I never felt as a child. Highly recommend this school if you're in the area!
