I went to Chez Hotel to look at the event spaces available to hold our high school reunion. The event spaces here are very nice and very classy. I was impressed with the care that went into the design of the these spaces. The rooftop restaurant and bar are great facilities. While we toured the area there was a yoga and juice party going on. The prices ended up being in the upper end of the price range we had. Then the saleswoman we had been working with told us that the prices did not include gratuity or taxes. Really spacious and welcoming set up with lights that came on in the evening and looks like it's set up to have live entertainment on the weekends. Stayed here for a night ahead of a morning flight from O'Hare. The hotel itself was nice - beautiful decor, spacious and updated rooms, free parking. However, there was a major issue with our stay. We were hoping for a restful night before departing from ORD, but the loud music from the top floor kept us awake. When I called the reception and asked to check on the issue, they said there was a wedding which was booked until like 1 or 2 AM, and there's not much they could do. Then there was some unpleasant pot smell on the floor. All in all, we barely got any sleep. I escalated the above issue to the hotel manager and asked for some sort of compensation - their investigation took days, and after two follow-ups from my side, they said they wouldn't give even a partial refund and offered a discount for a future stay. That's just laughable. All in all, won't recommend. Not just because of this incident, but also how (poorly) they handled it. read more

What a pleasant surprise. My family and I were in need of a Chicago-adjacent place to crash for a weekend, and Chez kept pulling up during my search. I read the reviews. Some good, some bad. But the place looked slick, it was affordable, it was pet friendly, and we were in a pinch. So, to the Chez we went. It's pretty. Very pretty. Much more upscale of an aura than I expected. You walk in, and it's vaulted ceilings, swanky lighting, modern accent pieces, and lavish floors. Our room had two extremely comfy Queen beds, a huge TV, and a serene, spacious rain-style shower. I love the design. No nonsense, just a few mirrors and pieces of art in a well laid out space. Bonus points for the creative book shelf wallpaper in the bathroom. And probably most important of all, our room was exceptionally clean, with zero wear and tear. I took a peek at the rooftop restaurant and special event spaces, and was impressed. I totally get why people would host a party here. Just look at the photos. The rooftop bar was open for a bit during our stay, and I could absolutely see a fun night out. They've got a retractable roof to fit whatever mood, and clearly sleek cocktail lounge was on the mind while putting it together. But the REAL reason we enjoyed the Chez as thoroughly as we did, was the staff. Ten out of ten. I started by booking via phone with Fatima, who graciously handled my many questions. She was pleasant, patient, and knowledgeable. Hospitality employees should be nice, but Fatima exudes what it is to run a hotel at an elite level. Extra thanks to her for finding my wife a nice space to handle a few work calls without interruption. After Fatima was off the clock, Nora took over. So incredibly polite and helpful. I first hit Nora up when I realized our groceries wouldn't fit in the mini-fridge, and she had a solution to keep our stuff chilled in no time. The next morning, I spoke with Andy about room service, and had yet another solid, friendly experience. These were not the fake smile, "yes of course," while rolling eyes behind your back experiences. Real service. Genuinely kind staff are hard to come by, let alone three shifts in a row. These three get it, and because of them, our stay was five stars. Yes, there were some minor issues, but they did not impact the overall experience. We had room 409, and could hear a slight hum when the elevators were operated. I assume that's the case for all the '09' rooms, so this is more of a heads up for those extremely sensitive to sound. The AC struggled a wee bit, and the water temp was finicky at times. But we were comfortable, we rested well, and every request was handled in stride. During our stay, the first floor event space had a graduation on Friday night and a snazzy fundraiser on Saturday night, and we didn't hear a peep. We slept like babies, thanks to the superb beds and blackout curtains. I'd 100% come back here. We are in the process of relocating to North Chicago, and if I have friends or fam in town that don't want Chicago proper, I am absolutely pointing them this way, even if it is a bit of a drive. Last year, I toured Chez Hotel as a potential venue for my wedding reception. It is an extremely expensive venue, with pricing exceeding $180 per person, but we were initially willing to consider stretching our budget because the space itself was nice. Unfortunately, our experience with their sales team completely changed our minds. During the tour, the sales rep handed us a poorly printed packet of pricing information on basic printer paper with fading ink. While that may seem minor, details matter when you are asking couples to spend tens of thousands of dollars on one of the biggest days of their lives. We were very upfront that our venue budget was $25,000. He assured us he could work within that budget and said he would send over a draft proposal later that day. When we received it, the proposal totaled $45,000!! After that, communication became difficult. We ultimately decided the venue was simply outside our budget and booked another venue nearby that was more transparent and reasonable. Even so, we were still interested in using Chez Hotel for guest room blocks, or other spaces for different wedding related events.The moment we informed the sales rep that we would not be booking the full wedding reception there, our inquiries regarding hotel rooms and additional events went unanswered. Once we were no longer committing to a large wedding contract, they were no longer interested in working with us even though I was willing to continue working with them despite this behavior. read more

Absolutely a great experience. From check in to check out everything was great. Beds were heavenly. Plenty of linens in the rooms. Everything clean and neat. The fact that there was even a Dyson hairdryer was the cherry on top. Reasonable prices and everything! This review is for the hotel only. I did not experience the banquet hall. To begin, the space is gorgeous. It is modern, unique, and definitely an upgrade from anything else in the northwestern suburbs if you are in the area you will not find more beautiful hotel for the price. Beds and pillows were super comfortable, they had high value amenities like a Dyson hair dryer and phone charger cord. The TV was massive, and there was complimentary water, coffee, tea, and muffins in the lobby. Additionally, all the staff were great. I had some packages delivered, and they stored them for me with ease. The housekeeping manager asked me for honest feedback, and I felt listened to. I gave it a 4 stars for a few issues. They are brand new (a couple of months during my stay) as the event hall was preexisting and they had built out the hotel. I am definitely going to stay there in the future so hopefully these issues are addressed. First, I would not describe this as a lively atmosphere. I really felt like I was the only person there most of the time. Empty parking lot, no music in the lobby. Once I came back after dinner and the whole right side of the lobby was dark! Eerie. They didn't have a bar, only beer and water for sale tucked away in a small corner. Made the idea of drinking alone in my room so sad. Apparently they will have a rooftop bar and restaurant opening in a few months which should really liven up the place! Not sure if they have kid friendly amenities (double beds, portable playpens, microwaves) so I would definitely ask before staying. There were a few trivial things that I mentioned and are already being addressed. Overall, please give them a try! MOST UNORGANIZED STAFF! A relative planned a huge event at this hotel. When my sister and I booked--they were not organized enough to give the group rate as promised to my relative. My sister had to call back as my relative explained to her what the group rate should have been. I had booked it under Booking,com and upon realizing there was a group rate for the party, I was able to cancel on Booking.com after calling the hotel to book under the group rate. The hotel then booked my room and proceeded to send me an e-mail with the new rate. When I checked in, they quoted me the old rate and said it was not cancelled. Again, I was able to cancel within the time frame of booked at Booking.com and my reservation was no longer showing in my app. In addition, their hotel had TWO rooms under my name! I had paid the rate hoping I could get the manager to update it later, especially since my relative surely spent thousands on her event. I e-mailed both Michelle Houmpavlis and Fatima Pakrawan and both say they could not change the amount. Now it is not about the money, but the unprofessionalism and the unorganization--both the fact that they did not honor what their own staff e-mailed me and say they had the reservation for Booking.com==even though I was able to cancel it and share their hotel staff's hotel's e-mail to me with the new booking and rate. Such an extremely unorganized staff! I advise you to not stay here or book any events if you are expecting organization and professionalism. read more

This hotel is a whole vibe! From the entrance to the rooftop! Very well decorated and a staff who was amazing! Whoever this family hired to design this hotel did an amazing job!! I just stayed at the Chez hotel on a Thursday - Sunday. I called the night before check in to ask if I could check in early. The woman on the phone told me I could check in on Thursday at 1 pm, without any charge. I showed up on Thursday and the woman at the front desk was on the phone. She continued with her phone conversation for about 10 minutes before even acknowledging me. Once she did, she informed me that I couldn't check in until 3 pm unless I wanted to pay $50. When I finally got into my room I entered and found a stink bug in the curtains. Then on Friday night at around 11:45 pm, the fire alarm went off-- instructing that the guests leave the building. I woke up and ran to the lobby. The woman at the front desk told us all it was a false alarm. Then minutes after returning to our room and getting back in bed, the alarm went off again. It was another false alarm. Still, once I finally went to bed I couldn't sleep due to the noise. Each night there was a wedding or reception in the hotel and the noise was extremely loud. Overall, I was very disappointed with the customer service. I won't be staying here again. read more

An absolutely horrible experience. We went with a group of 6 on Friday night for dinner and cocktails and to see a DJ that we were familiar with. We were seated and about 10 minutes later ordered a round of drinks when the server arrived. One hour later, after 2 inquiries with the sweaty unprofessional manager, we received 1/2 of the round and after an additional 10 minutes the other 3 cocktails. The waitress explained that she was new and that the bartenders just weren't making her drinks. We then ordered three appetizers. There are no words for how disgusting the food was. It smelled and tasted like the old food in the back of a refrigerator now you probably think that that's an exaggeration however, I promise you it is not. Another round of drinks was ordered and this time one of the cocktails was brought over the other five never showed up. We waited and waited and decided we had enough. It was time to leave the waitress then came over and handed us a $428 bill. It seems that she charged us for four rounds of drinks and the horrible food once again another encounter with the sweaty disgusting manager and the tab was settled. I will never set foot in that place again. My rule of thumb is always give any place a second chance however, not this time that's for sure. The actual lobby itself is grand & larger than life. Everything about it is mesmerizing (minus the awkward state the main entrance is currently in). Materials used really standout, creating a captivating vibe. Elevators were sufficiently fast & spacious. The hardwood floors on upper lentils were also a "WOW". A++ aromatics with bronze+black accents aplenty & a terrific modern (silent) AC system. I really enjoyed my view; the windows were crystal clear & functional which made for some great people watching. The blackout drapes were also convenient when I felt like sleeping in. Storage felt makeshift & surprisingly limited, especially for the vertically challenged. BED -- Sleeping arrangements that'll knock your socks off! Arguably the most important thing for a wedding hotel & they nailed it. No complaints; not even a nitpick. BATH -- There were a plethora of amenities to enjoy in this chic luxe loo, like the house-brand toiletries & a Dyson hair dryer! The attention to detail was also next level, apparent in the vibrant purple marbling -- this isn't wallpaper folks -- suspended light fixtures, & high quality stone installations. The shower experience was invigorating: a walk-in glass rainfall shower paired with a POWERFUL hand shower. Their house-brand bath products were moisturizing & lather effortlessly. These were actually worth using + you get a loofa/sponge. Cons: My toilet did not work & the motion sensing lights aren't calibrated properly (inefficient + too sensitive). TV -- A Massive 65" flat screen HDTV for your entertainment. Picture quality was amazing & the installation is cute. The aesthetic sacrifices a lot of function, making ports inaccessible for connecting external devices. Luckily a few streaming integrations are installed. WI-FI -- This killed the stay for me... 2024's worst by a major margin. Objectively the worst in my last 150+ hotels. Cell service (Verizon) was also the PITS. The free WiFi isn't much better. --Performance-- Video streaming - bad Online gaming - bad Video chatting - bad --Nerd Stats-- 4-6 Mbps download 2-4 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 57 ms latency 85 ms jitter FOOD & DRINK -- DoorDash friendly. Ice cold water & other refreshments available in the lobby. Ice machines on the room floors deliver some of the smoothest ice you'll ever experience. The mini-bar was a joke: it's aggressively under stocked & too small for personal items. In the end, bed-side truffles made everything better. in-room: microwave mini-fridge (tiny) coffee tea wet-bar mini-bar NOISE & LOCATION -- During the day it was perfect: peaceful & quiet. In the evening & early morning, the noise pollution was quite disruptive. Rooms even remotely close to the ice machine can be frustrating. Slamming doors echo thunderously through the halls too. The area felt safe & the security system presence was strong. Reasonable proximity to airport for not being an airport hotel. RATING Whether you're here for an event or a layover, oversights on the wireless infrastructure make this a challenging stay. It's worth a look but plan accordingly. The noise was keeping us up when we tried to complain no one was at the front desk something in ceiling was making load noises for 3 hours strait then stop and start again and like that wasn't enough the creeping sounds from the room above from them just walking was horrible and if that wasn't enough dogs barking left unattended And barked for hours the front desk didn't believe Is at all that horrible woman even started to argue and cuss at us I would never stay there again and would never recommend it I would rather sleep in the car !!!STAY Away !!! read more

I arrived close to midnight and. Was very tired as you can expect. Checked in and went up to the room only to discover it hadn't been cleaned from the night before. After going back down and getting another room although cleaned the windows were open and the room temp was 53. Supplied provided by the hotel as a courtesy were empty. Needless to say I wasn't happy. After calling the manager in the morning she said it was my fault and I should have gone down and told someone. Well I did and got nothing. Their customer service is horrible. They said they would get back to me within 3-5 business days. Never happened. Second time they said they would get back to me by end of the day. Never happened. This was our first time dinning at this restaurant and I must tell you, the whole experience from the moment we walked in the Hotel and making our way to the 6th floor to dine. Everything was immaculate. The staff at the restaurant "Margaret" our waitress was sooo nice and professional; she made us feel like regulars. The manager Christina, was just as friendly and professional. She made us aware the all there food was fresh. All the seafood was cooked without ever being frozen, and my salmon was absolutely delicious. We don't know what was more impressive; the food, or the service. Attend a wedding here recently. The place looks great, modern, clean lines, faux greenery on the walls for photos etc. There were a couple of things that would give me pause before booking. First, all the chairs felt flimsy, I noticed a few of the larger quest requested different chairs. Next the blasted us with the A/C all night. I know requests were made to adjust the thermostat were made, we got heat for about 15 minutes, 3 hours into the evening. Finally, the food was the "banquety" food possible. Very bland, but would me it went down easy. With the menu however, I'll assume we got what our host paid for. All and all I'd return as a guest(being sure to bring a coat), but wouldn't host an event. read more

I made reservations through Bookin.Com. Purchased the Travel Insurance (something I've never done) to make sure if anything happened I would be refunded. I was very excited to stay at the Chez Hotel after reading their glowing reviews. I called on the day of my check in to let them know I was running 10 minutes behind my check in time (3:00am- 11:00am). The woman who answered said no problem, we will see you when I get there. Ten minutes later I get a call from the Chez stating that check in time is at 3:00pm not 11:00 am! I explained that under the reservation I made with booking.com it was between 3:00am-11:00am. We went back and forth about check in times and she also added there had been a big wedding party over the weekend and they were waiting for guests to check out so they could clean the rooms to make them available for check in. I asked if the wedding party reserved all the rooms at the hotel?! she replied No, clearly I was hinting that she could honor my reservation time, I know that they had at least one clean room. I was even willing to down grade from a king to a queen. They were not willing to budge even though it clearly stated check in time 3:00am-11:00am. I got off the phone decided that I did not feel comfortable staying there (she was a bit rude), so I canceled my reservation. Come to find out booking.com has very ridged rules concerning the insurance policy even submitted a claim. Called back Chez Hotel (feeling I'm between a rock and a hard place) now I'm going to lose almost $300.00. I asked since no one is honoring the reservation terms I might as well stay my original reservation. They said I had to call booking.com. I was getting the run around. Bottom line I lost 285.00 booking.com even called Chez Hotel on my behalf to try to recover funds. They would not budge. Heed my warning, skip the Chez. Hospitable they are not. Do not give your business to Chez hotel in Arlington Heights. Worst experience ever throwing an event. First we met and priced everything out, ready to sign a contract and pay a deposit on a specific date. We were asked to sign electronically the following day since she had another couple waiting. We agreed and were called an hour later saying our date was no longer available since they booked an event right after we left. We spent the following week negotiating terms for a second date. We agreed verbally again and we are waiting for an emailed proposal/ contract from Nat and Michelle. I receive the email but have concerns about the fine print. I call and speak to Michelle regarding the event minimum required before tax and gratuity.. but im confused because we just spent a week going back and forth to agree on a price that was lower than the minimum printed at the top. Michelle insists we were told (which we were not) and now she's telling us to pick more expensive food choices to meet this minimum. She conferences Nat on the phone call and Nat proceeds to blatantly lie and state she always made us aware of this new higher cost to the event. Don't waste your time with these 2.. completely unprofessional and likely to cancel your event on you (yea they have a clause in their fine print that allows them to cancel on you) worst experience ever trying to plan an event. read more

Attended a wedding and reception here in a traditional room as mentioned by Carolina A. in her review. Per her comments: " traditional in decor with crown molding and beautiful chandeliers." When I think back, it's the large chandeliers and place settings that were most memorable. It wasn't a large room but more than enough space for our small group of about forty. The banquet hall staff moved quickly in transitioning the room from a wedding back to a reception & banquet dining. Food was classy, American, traditional for a wedding with offerings of steak, chicken and a veg meal. The food was very nice, celebrations went well and everyone had a great time. This would be a good option for celebrations of the smaller variety. read more

I have had many family events at European Crystal and have been to numerous parties as a guest as well. I have experienced nothing but great service and a fabulous time at the hall. My latest event was this past May for my sons communion. Everything was perfect just the way it was planned. Food is amazing and so much better than any other banquet hall. Staff is friendly and hard working and all accommodations have always been met. I will continue to host parties in this venue and highly recommend it to others for their special events. read more

I had my wedding reception at European Crystal Banquets on September 1st 2018. Me and my husband met with Anna about a year before and we booked this banquet hall for many reasons - Space - we had around 350 guests which fit comfortably in their Grand Ballroom; I fell in love with the space because of how classy and elegant it looks with the high ceilings and grand chandeliers - Location - we had a lot of out-of-town guests which make this very convenient for our guests with tons of hotels surrounding it - Food and alcohol - we went with the Duet of Filet Mignon and Chicken Christipher; after our wedding, we have received countless compliments from the guests on how good the food was and how we were able to find this venue. THE MEAT IS OLD AND BLACK. This place is now called Chez Hotel as of 2021. Came here last Saturday for a party and got diarrhea for the next few days. So did my cousin and aunt. I politely messaged the host letting her know that we got sick from the food at this place, and luckily she took some leftovers home and inspected the food. She saw that the meat had black marks on it. Every single piece of meat did, not just one or 2. We didn't notice it while we were eating because it's obviously covered in sauce. The host went back to talk to the place about it and they just yelled at her and wouldn't help at all. They tried saying that it's burned and then switched to saying that it was bought on Monday and that it just cooked like that. They offered her a new batch, but what was the point when the party was over, plus who wanna crap again. The meat was obviously old and not fresh. Maybe it's not their fault that their vendor gave them bad meat, but the venue did not do anything to make the situation right. Instead, they had the typical attitude any business would when they don't care. Terrible service from this place. A professional venue would do everything possible to correct this situation. I will not consider this place ever nor will the guests. It's a shame for a European venue to have a bad reputation; an embarrassment to our community. read more

European Crystal is a beautiful banquet facility. They're also one of the few businesses that can offer guarantees. You're guaranteed to have a beautifully-decorated room. Your guests are guaranteed to be impressed by the setup and compliment you on your choice of venue. If impressing your guests is the goal, you could do much worse than European Crystal. However, that does not mean a smooth, calm or stress-free event is likely. You're guaranteed to be disappointed. You're guaranteed to be mis-led. You're guaranteed to be rushed. You're guaranteed to be frustrated. Most importantly, you're guaranteed never to recommend this place to others. Wonderful tales are spun and promises made to gather the signature. Once the contract is signed and the money transferred, however, the treatment is much different. When initial promises are not kept the response is that, "you're already getting too much." So the fact that you promised great things is a justification for not providing those things? The promise is that you'll have plenty of time for nice photos between the ceremony and the reception. That promise becomes a group of workers throwing away the runner and stacking chairs while guests are still exiting their rows. The lovely photo opportunity became one wall of the room unobstructed by the group of men still arranging furniture for the next event. The promise was of a calm and relaxing cocktail hour in the hallway during which the guests could mingle and greet one another before the reception. That promise became several appetizers on trays in the same room as the reception as another event meant the hallway that we spent time to decorate became unusable for our group. The promise is that a guest count must be close but not exact because, "we can always make changes of four or five." That promise becomes a locked figure unable to be changed some 10 days before the wedding because, "that food has already been ordered and there's nothing that can be done." The promise; after much prodding, begging and frustration; is that the food that would not be served could be taken home. That promise becomes a claim that, "you had to let us know. All that food has been thrown away if not served." While none of those issues may seem like huge problems, one hopes the wedding day can be without such trivial matters. The sales person assigned to work with us greeted each complaint or question with eye rolls, exasperated gasps, shrugs or smirks. The overall theme is that reasonable and fair treatment is not their concern. As long as the facility looks the way they think is best, they feel the job is done. Promises are not kept, treatment is not respectful, and no effort is given to rectify problems. Based on our conversations with others, this treatment was not an aberration. It's the way business is conducted at European Crystal. My recommendation to others would be that one could do better finding another facility dedicated to helping your needs be met. Other facilities, based on the ratings we've seen and the reviews we've heard from others, do a much better job of making your day magical. Though needing to have your contract is hand to point out each point not being kept might not be problematic for some, it's not the way we hoped to spend our wedding day. My husband and I recently had our wedding at this location and would NOT recommend it to other couples. Our guests seemed to have a good time which is wonderful but the " behind the scenes were stressful". Things to note which seemed abnormal; you MUST use their bakery but cannot taste the cake flavors before the wedding day. Also, if you want a wedding planner the planner must be approved by the hall because "they are your planner". Additionally, gratuities are taxed which can add a lot of money to the final bill. If you plan on using credit, additional interest is added. Finally, on our original visit nice looking chairs which were included jumped up to $5 a piece on our second visit. We were told they had never been free. There were several let downs on our big day. Our rep promised us we would be the only wedding there ( huge part of why we booked with them) we walked in to find a second wedding going on. When we brought this up we were told we did not book tne entire hall. Our cocktail hour was suppose to be out of the main hall but it wasn't and by the time we arrived our guests were already seated. Finally, we asked for no rose petal drop but there was one anyway. It looked ridiculous with our dance and they were still sweeping the petals up during my father daughter dance. There were several other misplacements and mishaps and we are a laid back couple but by the end of the night we were very frustrated ( ie our linens were wrong bc they were being " used at another wedding") These things seem little but when you shell out thousands of dollars you expect competence. If you love the hall our advice is to get everything in the contract so no last minute surprises occur! The first review I wrote was filtered, perhaps because I signed up for yelp with the sole purpose of reviewing a few wedding vendors, I didn't seem legit and instead seemed like a malicious competitor. I truly hope this sticks, because I think our experiences can serve as a valuable lesson for others. I would like to reiterate, our guests had fun and I heard no complaints at all about the food, cake, bar, restrooms etc. It was mine and my husbands personal day of experience that was beyond stressful. read more
