A convivial neighborhood restaurant with one of the best brunches I've had in Paris. For 25€, you get a copious brunch that's a mix of sweet and savory, both buffet and made to order. For 5€ more you can treat yourself to a prosecco mimosa, served promptly and with a smile.
Once you order your main dish off the menu, you can get up and serve yourself from the bar. On one side there is coffee, milk, hot water, and assorted teas and hot chocolate mix. The large length of the bar is where you can stack up the pancakes, small ones with a variety of toppings at your disposal: syrup, Speculoos, and different types of jam. Just behind the bar you find your carbs: miniature croissants, pain au chocolat and viennoiseries, then a fresh loaf of bread for you to cut, with a toaster behind it.
The beauty of the buffet was in the selection at the front of the restaurant. It was very French indeed! In addition to the giant pasta shells with fresh mozzarella balls tossed in pesto and the green lentils cooked with onion, there were enormous wheels of cheese and two types of quiche (Lorraine and tuna--both extremely silky and delicious). There was a fruit salad and yogurt and cannelés, as well as assorted cakes and muffins.
I hate to admit that we were amateurs: we gorged on the cheese and cannelés and by the time our main course arrived, we were well on our way to being full. I ordered an eggs benedict, and my partner a club sandwich. The club sandwich itself seemed insurmountable, and then it came with a generous portion of fries and a full side salad...
The eggs benedict was composed of real bacon (not Canadian) and toast instead of English muffin. Its hollandaise sauce was so delectable that even though I was so full I pinched several of my boyfriend's fries to sop it up. The fries were perfectly cooked, and the club sandwich was harmoniously tied together with a delicious mustard dressing.
We'll be coming back for dinner to try out their cochon au lait (apparently that's their specialty). Hopefully there won't be an appetizer buffet to fill up on first! read more
