I was looking for a new barber that had a sense of style and lucked out to find Zach with an open time slot. The website really told a great story about the shop/ the owner, and the barbers/ stylists. I arrived to a very cool waiting area, great music, and didn't have to wait long for Zach. He did a great job and it's one of the better cuts I've had in a long time - I've scheduled multiple revisits in the future because their schedules are often booked out pretty far. I can't say enough good things about Cheryl and Chez Moustache! For starters, she has given me and everyone I have brought/referred her, the BEST haircuts of our lives... No Joke! And her prices are SO reasonable. It's amazing! Secondly, the place is so classy and comfortable: From the free coffee and teas etc, to the flat screen tv and comfy waiting area, to the old fashion (yet brand new) barber chair and equipment, she has created the PERFECT gentleman's barber shop experience. Bottom line: Nice haircut but I'm not sure it needed to cost as much. To be fair, I'm used to going to little hood spots and paying like $13 for a cut and $7 for a line up. So paying all this money was already iffy. However as soon as I walked in I liked the vibe. Chill room to wait in and I waited all of two minutes before my appointment (you don't get that for $10 bucks). I worked with David, he asked good questions and I liked that he was checking with me before making moves. He cut hair very meticulously and I needed a cut bad. I could have used a tighter line up and wasn't a huge fan of my sideburns but I don't doubt he would have fixed it but he was being rushed so that kind of sucked. I think I'll go there when I need to style my hair but take the quick cheap line ups elsewhere. Plus side: I bought some great hair product and he showed me how to make my cut look how I want using them. I'm a fan. read more

Love this place, have been going for a year It's small, quiet, clean, there's always soft jazz playing. Classic barbershop feel Only two barbers work there so unfortunately you do have to book months in advance which is the biggest downside. But you can do the booking online by yourself. If you know your schedule in advance and get haircuts regularly They take cash or credit and use PayPal so you can sign things on their iPad and get email receipts. They also send optional text reminders and email reminders for your haircut There are one or two parking spots reserved for customers. Chez really doesn't need another 5-star review... screw it, they're getting one anyway. I went in 8 weeks after getting "the best haircut of my life" in Denver, CO and thought the bar had been set too high and so I prepared myself for a bit of a let down. Wrong. Cheryl looked at the pictures that I showed her and used it for a guide while adding her own expertise. She took her time, asked questions and really made it a pleasant experience while delivering an excellent hair cut. Chez Moustache is EVERYTHING. DC's favorite dandy (i.e., yours truly) moved to the East Side of Providence in late June, in desperate need of a trim before starting a new job. Searching for a salon in a new town is particularly anxiety-provoking because I have curly hair that can be tricky for barbers to cut. When I wandered by Chez Moustache one day, the gentlemanly name and decor struck a chord. I made an appointment post-haste. When I sat down with Zack, he immediately put me at ease with his consultation skills and friendly demeanor. He informed me that he has lots of experience working with curly hair and that he could easily give me the cut I want: "professional but not boring." Zack was a great conversationalist and checked with me throughout the appointment to make sure that I was satisfied. Moreover, he was sweet, funny, and warm-- provided a great experience all around. I've been coming here to see Zac for about two years now. He always goes above and beyond to make sure my hair comes out better than I anticipate, going out of his way to check in periodically to ensure you're perfectly happy. His straight razor shaves are always spot on, too. Beyond all else, he's a hell of a nice guy and great to talk to, covering any and all subjects in the span of an hour. The shop itself is beautifully laid out and a great homage to old-timey gentlemen's barber shops. The music, which is of the "singers and standards" variety (Sinatra, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, etc.), really helps set a relaxed atmosphere, too. And while I've never had her cut my hair, the owner Cheryl is always very friendly and welcoming, as well. I've never felt nothing but comfortable from my first visit. To put Chez Moustache in the category of a "barber" is a little misleading. It's more like a spa for your head (inside and out), an oasis, a monument to the art of cutting hair. I've only got my hair cut here once, but this place is classy; a real gentlemen's barbershop. On top of the straight razor and warm towel, you'll also get an excellent haircut/beard trim if you come here. It isn't the barbershop "hang out" with loud music, and juvenile barbers. It's a bit (okay, more than a bit) on the pricey side; however, you do get what you pay for: attention, professionalism, quality. There really isn't any place like this in the area, and it really deserves five stars, but... there is one drawback: good luck getting an appointment. It is a small shop, and from what I could see, there are only three barbers/chairs in this place. Today's date is Feb 6, and according to their online schedule, their next opening is March 17th (which speaks volumes for their quality). My schedule changes week to week, so I doubt I'll ever get back in here, unfortunately. My suggestion for potential customers is to book an appointment that far in advance, and upon paying, book your next appointment. My suggestion to Chez Moustache is to expand! Providing a little more love for the good folks at Chez Moustache. Why? Zack helped me with a problem I was experiencing during shaving. I use a safety razor when I shave, and I was having trouble with nicks and scrapes causing a little bleeding during the process. Zack's advice on how to shave more effectively has led me to have three successive shaves that did not nick or cut me once. I haven't had that happen in years. Got the full shebang with beard trimming, hot shave (neck) and haircut. He came out looking dashingly handsome (even moreso than usual). I had walked by this place countless times and after one disappointing visit ater another to other local shops I FINALLY found someone that knows what they are doing! This place is awesome! I've gone here a few times now and I've had a great experience each time. I've had my hair cut by Zac & Cheryl and they both pay excellent attention to detail. They're great at what they do and they're really nice people too. Chez Moustache has a really cool look and vibe to it. You can book an appointment online through their website which is great. There's a small parking area next to the building but there's always plenty of street parking. The pricing is reasonable for the service you get, they have complimentary coffee, and when your haircut is done you just swipe your card then you're out the door. I know I'm just piling more rave on top of the other reviews, but seriously, Chez Moustache is great. Cheryl is nothing but friendly, caring, interested, interesting, and passionate! I get the feeling that regardless of my mood, I'll feel comfortable here. Sometimes I get a haircut and don't want to talk--she's okay with that. Sometimes I want to vent a little bit. Sometimes I really do want to chat--and Cheryl's up for that too! She has a fascinating set of interests and skills all over the board. Her title of master barber is completely appropriate, but she is amazingly humble about it and her previous achievements too. Beyond the owner, the shop itself is wonderful--full of great barbershop smells and a cozy, homey atmosphere. Very comfortable, authentic barbershop chairs. Shaving and hair supplies from Edwin Jagger, Grooming Lounge, and others (with a few Eau De Toilettes for purchase too); don't forget to grab a free sample or two! All this, and an amazing, carefully crafted haircut (it's evident that Cheryl is very happy when cutting hair--she is in her element!) for very little money! A regular cut is only $20. Cheryl is so great. She has given me the best haircut I've ever had, time and time again. Friendly, nice, comfortable atmosphere with the best cut around... it doesn't get better. I am 26 years old, and I started going to Cheryl at Chez Moustache about 6 months ago. Before that, it had been 7 YEARS since I had gone to a real hairdresser or barber. I just shaved my head, as I was fed up from bad experiences. I didn't discover Chez Moustache until my last semester of college, but I certainly wish I had been there sooner. The prices may seem high but you really get what you pay for, in both the quality of the haircut and the service itself. I only scheduled appointments with Zac, but I've heard good things about Cheryl too. There's a reason you need to book appointments weeks - even months in advance. If you haven't been yet you should go... you'll never go to a Supercuts or equivalent again, and if you move (like I did) you'll be hard pressed to find a barbershop to replace Chez Moustache. read more

Not worth $55 for hair and beard... This is being rated 2 stars because the cut was done correctly, but nothing a $20 couldn't get you elsewhere. I tried this place out vs my normal barber because of the screaming reviews Cheryl received and inguess inwas expecting more input or different result from a beard shaping. I booked an appointment this morning online with Cheryl, based on the advice of another review here on yelp. I showed up at 10:50, confirmed my name, and was seated with David. Not being one to ruffle feathers I didn't ask questions. David asked me what I wanted done, I showed him some pictures and talked a bit and he started. As we were talking I find out he's been working there for a year, cutting hair for just over a year. Not quite the "experienced" cut I was expecting from Cheryl. Again, David did a great job, but nothing any different than I would get at my usual barber shop where I would pay $15+tip. Overpriced, over-rated, poorly coordinated, classy-looking spot. On the upside they do have a ton of men's haircare products. Nothing I wanted to even glance after my pockets were reamed for the cut. I'll take my normal barber next time, thank you. read more

It's hard to even know where to begin reviewing Chez Moustache. I was a patron here for two years, until I recently moved away from Rhode Island. I'm currently looking for a barber in Washington, DC, and I find myself perplexed as to where to go. I feel like I found such a gem in Chez Moustache that I can't ever imagine finding a barber shop that will truly replace it. Zac and Cheryl are both incredibly skilled barbers and approachable people, but Zac ended up becoming my regular barber. His precision and attention to detail are something to behold, and I came to consider him a true master of his craft. On top of that, I would look forward to coming in for an appointment with Zac, because he's just a great guy to talk to. I would often forgot that I was even getting my haircut. The space is small, quaint, and I always immediately felt relaxed every time I walked in. I never had to wait more than a couple minutes after arriving to be seated. As far as pricing, I always felt that I was getting more than I bargained for. My haircuts were consistently so good, that I felt I didn't need another cut for two months. Here's a tip. Both Zac and Cheryl are usually booked about a month and a half to two months ahead (for good reason), so go to their website and book your appointment online now. I live about a 2 minute walk from Chez Moustache, and I was so excited that it opened. There doesn't seem to be a solid place to get a sharp haircut in this neighborhood. Well now there is! I went in on the second day that Chez Moustache was open and found a kind of gentleman's social club kind of environment, there is an extremely comfortable waiting area that is decorated but still masculine. Everything is just so. You can tell that this business is a labor of love. Cheryl gave me the best haircut I have had in years, all for 20 dollars. She was friendly but not overly chatty. I felt right at home, which doesn't happen in most barbershops. I cannot recommend this place and Cheryl enough. I really want them to get a lot of business so that they stick around! I discovered this place when I drove by a few weeks ago while taking a scenic route on the way to work. Decided to take a chance and couldn't be happier. The waiting area is full of design elements from the era of the dapper gentleman, complete with hat rack and wooden shoeshine box. It's also completely spotless and has a Keurig machine in case you want some coffee while you wait. Zac was really great about being able to turn my vague descriptions of what I did and didn't want into something tangible. He quickly carved my neglected mop into something presentable, and then spent just as much time getting the detail work just right. I don't think my hairline has ever had such attention. She takes everything into consideration from the color and tone fluctuations, to the position and intensity of cow-licks.
