Very important: there are multiple locations of Chez Papa throughout the city and their menus do vary. Nevertheless, they all follow the Basque traditions and their portions are sumptuous and huge. Do ask for their snails. They are very generous with their portion size. Foie gras was too cold, perhaps it was in the fridge for too long. For entrees, try the duck and the lean steak. Served with potatoes au gratin and a huge salad. All of Chez Papa locations have fantastic staff who go out of their ways to work even with the pickiest customers.

Good place with tasty food. The menu is all in French, go figure... Ordered Cassoulet (bean sausage chicken leg stew) and the rib eye steak with fried potato... Both are good, price is a bit expensive for what we get, but hey we are in Paris. Overall quite happy with the food

Thirst quenching work, walking around Paris!

I'm a huge fan of Chez Papa! When I first came to Paris so many many years ago... oh wait come to a screeching halt ... I was very young and Chez Papa didn't exist...okaaay... FFWD a 'few ;D' more years into my early 20's! Right! When I visited some friends back in my early 20's they introduced me to Chez Papa in Montparnasse. I think there were only two at the time. I remember it being a cold wintery evening and my glasses steamed up as I entered a dining room packed with local Parisians, but what did leave a lasting impression on my was their Omelette flambé a l'armagnac. OMG to die for! On this premise I was quite excited to find that they had expanded across Paris and that my dear old friend François was taking me to the nearest one to where I was staying! I immediately knew what I would have for dessert. Sadly it wasn't on the menu :( but more on that later! There were not many places open in the area to my surprise, especially as it was a Saturday afternoon, so I was equally surprised to find it packed. However we did not wait for too long before a table became free, probably as we arrived towards the end of the lunchtime period. Just as I remembered the food was good, solid and arrived in huge portions. Though prices had gone up but still by Paris standards what can you do! François and I shared a Trio de Foie Gras €20, 90. All pan fried, with balsamic vinegar, fleur de Sal and on Gingerbread. Superb! This was followed by a tender Coufidou. €16, 50 Lots of bread to mop up all the lovely red wine juices in this melt in your mouth beef stew. François had the Gigantic 'Super Papa' Salad. This came in a Chamber pot sized bowl filled with lettuce, tomatoes, Sautéed Potatoes, poultry gizzards and liver, diced bacon, melted goats cheese on toast and Cantal cheese! As he put it, sets you up for the day! €14, 40 Mark had the Sirloin steak topped with Ham, sautéed potatoes and a Roquefort cheese sauce, around €16. I was still missing my Omelette flambé a l'armagnac. When François found out he approached the waiter who said it wasn't a problem and that they would gladly prepare it... unfortunately he was only to return moments later and said if only we had asked earlier as the kitchen had since closed :( Another trip then!

Delicious, didn't have a lot of reviews but a hidden gym. Friendly staff, they speak Spanish as well. Food was vey quick, great hang out point.

Lunch I went there with my family for lunch. Good food with volume. The food can be salty but I like this friendly atmosphere.

Great little spot for salads! They really are GARGANTUAN and we could easily have shared one between us. The duck burger was incredible!

Throughout our trip from Provence, Basque Country and Paris, I joked that they must hate me for ordering my beef med b/c it was so much tougher compared to our beef. Anyway, it's just different. Our server spoke English fluently and was such a hoot...full of personality & joy. Per his recommendation, we ordered it med-rare b/c it continues cooking table side on the sizzling platter. We ate too much. It's a lot of food to split the cote de boeuf btn two. Comes with very good chubby fries and 3 sauces. TBH, I didn't love the sauces. Luckily we walked 6miles that day and skipped lunch. Started with a garden salad, but sadly we had no room for dessert. Reservations via email. We managed to get a 9pm reso, last minute, I bet due to a cancellation. They have 2seatings...6pm & 9pm.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

That's not acceptable. The food, however, was. Hence my difficulty in giving one rating. Our 3 dishes tried were indeed solid. Generous servings of seafood in the bouillabaisse, and I have no qualms whatsoever with my cuise de grenouille and foie gras salads. Bread kept us alive. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
