Absolutely hands down one of the most awesome, entertaining dance performances I have ever seen!…read more Yep, the Phunk Phenomenon-- including Junior Phunk (8-12 year olds) and Lil Phunk (6-13 year olds who perform at half-time dring Celtics games!!! ...and are my new personal heroes)-- performed at AIDS Walk Boston this year. And let me tell you, they rocked the place to the ground. They grooved, they shaked. They breakdanced. They did crazy isolations. One kid had a mohawk. One kid got up there and tore it up all by himself on stage! Backflips happened. Dancers came flying off the stage. I'm telling you, these kids can MOVE. Meanwhile, the crowd was going wild. We had about 15,000 people on the Hatch Shell that day, all dancing, cheering, smiling, and having a blast. Afterward, the feedback was amazing-- people LOVE the Phunk Phenomenon, and want them back. I just wish that I had joined the Phunk Phenomenon when I was 8 years old! Maybe then my "robot" would be more believable. Le sigh. Anyway, check out their website (it's highly entertaining!!), enroll your kids in classes, and get to a performance as soon as you can!

She makes it feel like a big happy family, makes dance fun more than just an "extracurricular activity" for the kids. They also have a great competition team that has won many awards for groups, solos, and wonderful choreography. Raising 4 kids and teaching about 600 as a public school music teacher I would rate this studio as…read more absolutely worst my kids have been exposed to: inconsiderate placement, unprofessional practices ( no rehearsal or proper preparation given) and utter ignorance of child emotional state. Its not fair to any child to go through what my son went during this year at this studio. Looking at him scared backstage and unable to move ( fear of new places- never had nor dress rehearsal nor run through/ mark up in there)!) in a costume ( black train suit) 3 times bigger his size - ordered by studio and charged. a fortune- absolutely broke my heart. The teachers didn't bother to try to call me or make him feel comfortable-leaving him backstage- " the show must go on " Lesson 1 that I learned: more research before commitment Lesson 2: Owners of the studio might lie( never happened to me before this one but alas)

My wife and I aren't exactly dancers -- three and a half left feet between us! But decided it would…read morebe fun to give lessons a whirl. We've been to three so far -- two individual and one group. Judit is a patient instructor, and we're moving along a little better than I'd expected. The only negative is that my wife has unexpectedly taken a shine to swing dancing, and it's clear that I'm going to have to try to keep up with her. But Judit swears she has it under control. Maybe I'll provide an update in a few weeks! The studio is inviting and relaxed. Our kids are welcome, and they just sort of hang out in the corner and eat the snacks that are provided. Prices seem reasonable, and she's been accomodating about scheduling the individual lessons at times that work for us. We'll give it a week or two more, then try one of the dance party practice sessions. Wish us luck!

Parents are allowed to watch class in a comfortable setting. The studio is fun, bright and adorably decorated (I'm happy as soon as I walk in). Dancers wear what they are comfortable in, no set uniforms. (You can buy adorable and reasonably priced dance leotards, shoes, headbands, leg warmers etc. right there) The teacher has a wonderful disposition she expects your child to listen, respect and perform, it isn't a problem because she is so great with them they WANT to follow in class. Class starts with a short fairy tail story. Then the teacher incorporates the story into that day's class. (Fairies? Sprinkle "fairy dust" on your legs to straighten them). They also do jazz and tap as well. Children get to wear a costume at the end of class (part of the fairy tail story) and have free dance with wands or ribbon streamers. The dancers earn hand stamps for a job well done (as well to distinguish between right and left ). Also, you aren't gouged for spring recital. You aren't expected to sell multi overpriced tickets. They also have great priced school vacation or summer themed camps. Really if you are looking for a great experience in a great location don't look any further.

Candy and her entire staff are friendly and welcoming. They all love what they are doing, and share their passion for dance with their students. They have found that balance between learning how to dance and making the entire experience fun and enjoyable. As an instructor, Candy is awesome. She has introduced me to several different styles of dance, and is always encouraging me to try different techniques and styles, from cha cha to salsa to jive. I was a little hesitant at first about taking lessons, but Candy's style of teaching makes every lesson entertaining! In addition to her private lessons, I have also attended her cardio Latin fusion class. It is a great class, with options for more or less intense exercises. I always leave class tired, but I wfeel invigorated for the rest of the week!
