I took the CPR class with Bill, and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to take a CPR class for their work/school requirements. As a firefighter/paramedic, Bill brings credibility to the class. He clearly cares about his students learning, as well as fulfilling the course's mission: to help save lives. You will tangibly feel how much he cares about what he is doing. He is able to simultaneously deliver the material with both humor and empathy. You feel like you are becoming a better healthcare provider by taking his class, rather than just fulfilling a work requirement. Also, the parking in the area is free and convenient. The classroom is immaculately clean, if a bit drafty because it is in a warehouse-like building that was retrofitted to be an office complex. Just bring a jacket in case you get cold. The dummies are well cared for and also cleaned. Bill is also well-prepared and organized; in the BLS class, as soon as you pass the test at the end of the exam, he has already printed out your BLS card for you. Compared to the free CPR courses that I was forced to take in dental school, this class was magnitudes better than what I took since each person got a dummy and was expected to perform the life-saving maneuvers in front of Bill. Took the BLS for Healthcare Providers with Bill tonight and it was awesome. I don't come from a healthcare background, I'm actually just an airline pilot with no formal training in CPR. Decided to do this as it might someday prove useful with the amount of passengers I have on a daily basis. That being said, I was pretty nervous going into this. Bill did a great job not only in teaching, but his humor kept everyone interested while driving home the techniques. I read the AHA book once before coming to class, and Bill reinforced the important points and filled in the gaps. The class room and teaching aides were top notch, and everyone seemed to leave the class confident in the skills learned. CPR re-certification is a pain for any health care provider, but because of the simplicity of Chicago CPR, it wasn't brutal at all! I always dread having to renew my CPR certification because sitting through the class is about as fun as sitting in rush hour traffic, but this class was great! Our instructor was informative, to the point, and actually really funny. He also emphasized key points repeatedly and explained how we could hurt someone by accident if we didn't keep certain things in mind. I left the class feeling prepared and like I could actually do good CPR on someone should I ever be unfortunate enough to encounter someone in distress. I took a class with Chicago CPR last night and was 100% satisfied with the experience. The class is very affordable compared to other CPR classes offered in the area. The class times are very convenient. Plus, I signed up a week before and there were still spots available. So if you're a procrastinator like me and need CPR for work, this place can definitely accommodate you. Our class was taught by a paramedic who explained the technical terms in a way that everyone could understand. Took my first BLS class today with these guys..Mr. Buffington was our instructor and it was a very good teaching session. Skills training with mannequins was pretty good too! Great location, although parking was touch rough for the 9am class I attended. However, after circling a few times I was able to find non-permit parking a few blocks down. That's my only compliant and honestly, it obviously didn't affect my 5 star rating. I would give Chicago CPR Now 6 stars, if I could. Jason was our instructor and he was incredible. He appeared extremely knowledgeable, presented all the information in a clear and easy to remember manner, was patient, answered all the classes' questions and was overall exciting to listen to. I anticipated a boring CPR class with an instructor droning on and on in which I learned very little................boy, was I wrong. I left this course excited, feeling confident that I could help someone in need (either choking or unresponsive). I registered and paid for a class with Chicago CPR Now, but did not receive the confirmation email for the class. The website states that without the confirmation email and the included pre-class tasks, I cannot attend the class. I left phone messages and emails trying to get the confirmation email. No response. I left additional messages asking to reschedule the class and/or refund my money. No one has responded to my calls. No one has responded to my email. They took my money and went silent. May need to report them to the better business bureau or the state's attorney's office. Not sure if this is just bad customer service or outright theft! read more

People at this location are very inflexible. They only accept online registration, which only accepts credit cards. When I tried to explain why a person I know did not have a credit card and could come to their location and pay well in advance for the training, they were very rude and haughty. They had the nerve to tell me to let the person use my credit card to sign up. Are they into saving lives, or do they only care about getting money--by credit card? Who knows? That person who does not have a credit card may need to save someone's life someday, but they won't be able to do this because Chicago CPR Now won' t take their payment. read more

So I sent an email to Chicago CPR Now inquiring about how to re-certify for BLS. The email that they sent back to me was the rudest email ever! I showed it to my husband and he called them. I am posting on yelp b/c it was THAT rude. I mentioned that I was in a bit of a time crunch as I am getting ready to ahve a baby-yes my third and oh I work full-time. They shot back "we understand your time is important but so is ours." I then mentioned how I had re-certified for PALS that day without BLS first and they commented "what you did was inappropriate." When I asked if I truly need to review AED use they said "as the doctor, you are relying on the nursing staff and that is not responsible." Ughmmm, I have taken SO many CPR classes, so I am no relying on anything. The tone of this email was shockingly rude. read more

CPR class is something that I always dread, not because I don't want to try and save lives, but because the classes usually drag and in the end I don't feel like I learned much. I just finished school at Cortiva Institute for Massage Therapy. CPR certification is not mandatory for licensed massage therapists. I chose to take it. I am glad I did. Wow. Informative AND fun? Who would have thought that a snoozer mandatory 3 hour CPR class for healthcare providers would actually go by quickly and be enjoyable? I mean normally these things have you wondering which is more tolerable, recertification or a bikini wax? Yeah, it can be that bad, but not here. This is what these folks do, and they do it with a sense of humor, while catering the class to the knowledge level of the participants. Our instructor was a firefighter and paramedic. He glossed over things that t was obvious we knew as a group and focused more on things we might not know, helpful tips from the trenches, and extra instruction where necessary. Staying busy and engaged, as well as feeling like you were getting useful material, not just forced to "do your time" made it a pleasure. I was happy enough, that I may take a couple of the other classes since this one wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Yeah, I could save your life now. Good job CPR Now. read more

I have previously completed two CPR/First Aid certification classes through the Red Cross, one on site and another at a Red Cross office. This one is much better. My instructor was Amanda, and she was great. She got us started on time, which I always appreciate. No reason the punctual people should have to wait on the late ones, right? The AHA videos they showed were pretty entertaining, and Amanda did parts of it herself to save time, which is also appreciated. We crammed a lot of information into the 5 hours. Registration was easy, and everything was set up and ready to go when I arrived. The only thing that was at all lacking was the facility itself. It's pretty industrial-looking and not very cozy. However, everything else was soooo much better than the Red Cross class (cheaper, shorter, better organized, even the certification card itself), so I don't care about the aesthetics of their office. I will definitely get re-certified through them every two years. read more
