If I could rate 0 I would. We had a wonderful pediatric office and my son did not mind going every 6 months. After moving, used Google reviews to find a new dentist and he walked out in tears after the first visit in tears and scared to go back.. I was called back to review the 2k in dental work that they said he needed. With no previous issues, I phoned our previous dentist for advice, sent the x-rays and they suggested a 2nd opinion. I am SO happy we did. There was a small cavity on a baby tooth that would fall out within the year which would not be a cause for novocaine, drilling, etc. The other spots were non-existent and we have found a new, trustworthy practice that helped my kiddo feel safe and happy at the dentist again. The waiting room was very crowded and after speaking to other parents in the neighborhood, this is common practicing and can't imagine how much they get away with. read more

Jackie is a wonderful hygienist! My son is severely disabled nonverbal autistic and she is so kind and patient with him. But also she does such a great job cleaning his teeth and is very thorough. The people over the phone were very nice and helpful. She answered all my questions and seemed to actually care about having good customer service. We scheduled an appointment and everything was good. The day of the appointment the receptionist was very nice. But when it was time to see the doctor i was very dissatisfied. He recommended that my 5 year old get $1,100 worth of work done with laughing gas in more than 3 visits. I went in for 1 cavity. I immediately left and went to another dentist and they fixed the cavity. All the other work he said my child needed wasn't necessary. Two different orthodontists said my son had 1 cavity. Great office, very child oriented. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I brought my daughter here about a week after she turned 2. She screamed and acted a fool, of course. I credit this place with my kids not being scared to go to the dentist. They used to even be excited to come! The toys, video game consoles, and movie in the waiting room are definitely a huge part of the appeal for the kids. That said, it's really starting to feel run-down and unloved. The video game consoles are always broken or offline, the movies are too quiet to hear, and those toys have dwindled. The reception desk staff seems harried and doesn't have time to make sure the kids are excited to be there. The radio in the lobby is much louder than the movie, and the seating in the waiting room is downright gross to sit on- it's filthy. Where it used to feel clean and cared for and welcoming, now it feels shabby and broken, and that almost subliminal feeling of it not being cared for starts to translate into it feeling like a place that is uncomfortable. I do know that my kids still don't mind going to the dentist and they get good, solid care from a dentist who is well-regarded by the profession in this region. That is hugely important. But we also carefully seek out pediatric dentists that make our feel children comfortable and safe, so they don't take a fear of going to the dentist into adulthood with them. I hope that they give their physical space and waiting room some TLC so it can continue to welcome kids and help them have healthy attitudes toward their dental health. read more

5 STARS!!!! So relieved to find Dr. Chris and this office. He is the first pediatric dentist that we have been to that was able to work with my 4 year old fearful daughter. He is kind and always explains everything to both myself and my daughter. The staff is awesome and so friendly. The office is decorated very kid friendly with video games and TV's all over the office. The fish tank is really cool too. I recommend Chicago Kidds to all of my friends and family with children. I have never felt the need to provide a poor review. I have been with Chicago Kidds since Dr. Savide was in care of my older son (over 10 years ago) and was very happy with the care and service provided by him. Unfortunately, I can not say the same for Dr. Neal. I find he does not interact well for a "pediatric" dentist with kids. My younger son suffers from dental anxiety due to the experiences he has had at this office With Dr. Neal. To summarize the last appointment: I asked to go into the room for a filling that was to be completed. I was told I could not go to the room and explained why (with his previous anxiety obtained from this office) and they again asked me to remain in waiting room. I at this time stated if you need me please call me. Within 5 min they called me back, having already pulled my son out of the room. Dr. Neal stated in front of my son "we don't strap kids down here"! I replied, at no time did anyone ask you to strap my son down. I then asked Dr. Neal did you explain what you were doing to my son and he said "yes but he was clenching his mouth shut". I then turned to my son who was in tears at this point and asked him how it was explained, my son replied "he said he was taking a syringe and "shooting" the medicine in my tooth". Dr. Neal at this point walked away. I then took 5 min to show my son step by step what actually was happening (explained a needle would be utilized to numb his mouth) and he then understood and was willing. I went to the counter and stated he was ready. The response I was given is that they already took someone into the room and he would have to return another day and stated it "has to be during the morning hours". At this time they charged me $157 for the nitrous initiated Prior to things running through insurance. To add we made and took my son to Dr. Kurt Halum's office the next day, whom listened to Jacob, explained the procedure prior and eased my son's anxiety from previous experiences. To top it off my son left Dr. Halum's office with a huge smile And filling completed with no difficulty. To summarize, there is an approach to take and I do not feel Dr.Neal holds this quality. 10 STARS!!! Chicago Kidds and the dentists here are all great. Well worth the extra cost. They are so good with kids here. My son needed a lot of work and it was expensive. We decided to go to the "family" dentist to get the work done because it was cheap. That did not go well at all. The general dentist couldnt even get him to sit in the chair. My son was traumatized, so we came back and Dr. Chris was able to work with him. My son loves this office, and myself and my wife do too. Dr. Sandra saw him for a couple of visits too and she was fantastic. They are worth every penny and it truly shows that going to a specialist is worth it. I cant say enough positive about these guys they are truly wonderful with children. They care about the kids and their families and it shows. Highly Recommend read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My 5 yr old was referred here because she has a cavity that she wouldn't sit still for. My wife takes her here and they say they don't use "sling" to do fillings. Then they take X-rays. She needed work done on 13 teeth! We set up for her to be put under for the procedure. We were not told that she was going to have 3 white caps and 9 yes NINE silver crowns put into her mouth! They "couldn't discuss options during the surgery" according to the dentist. She also had 4 teeth pulled on the bottom front. Her innocent child look was stolen from her in just a couple of hours. My wife cried and we were both so upset. We had to explain for years that her dentist thought this was the best and only option while in the surgery room. We paid $3000 and they said that they accepted our insurance. I have bad insurance but this was a huge financial burden. We go back for a two week check up and they state that I owe them $1200 more for the "extra work" they ended up doing. They were SO kind enough to only charge me $1000 and allow me to pay them $200 a month. Don't you think it should have been discussed that $4000 worth of work and an insurance payment to make it over $5000 is worth a long discussion ???? Check your options! Don't go here! They can shove their "free" toy up theirs! read more

My daughter just turned 4 years old, so she was overdue for her first dentist visit. When seeking referrals, I found out 3 of my good friends take their children here, so I was definitely taken by their raving reviews and I took my daughter on Thursday (11/29/2018). From I moment I made the appointment over the phone, I was impressed! The receptionist was polite and informative. The reminder of appointment texts was helpful as well. The day we went, my daughter's name met us at door on the "Welcome New Patient" Chalkboard. She was so excited to see her name! There were plenty of toys and a Christmas movie in the waiting room (excellent for keeping kids of all ages entertained). The office was clean, holiday friendly and the wait was not long! My favorite part (aside from it being my daughter's first dentist appointment) was in the back they have EVERY fish from "Finding Nemo" in their fish tank! It was a nice/unexpected surprise. Fast forward, they were EXCELLENT reassuring my 4 year old daughter that everything would be okay. They explained everything in ways she could understand and gave examples of each tool and it's purpose. My daughter got to pick her own teeth cleaning paste (from at least 8 different flavors); she smiled and wanted to talk most of the cleaning process. My daughter left with a cute baggie full of dental goodies, stickers, rings, a balloon and she got to pick a Disney character tooth the brush. Last, she received certificate with her picture (to congratulate her on completing her first dentist visit). As a parent, it's an amazing feeling when your child is made to feel "special"/important. Brought my 4yo son here cause of all the "wonderful reviews" they have. What a waste of time. They wanted to extract numerous teeth, give him crowns, spacers, also do this at a nearby hospital so they could sedate him. They found something wrong $$ with every single tooth $$ A page and a half of procedures totaling almost $6000. Yes almost SIX GRAND !! JESUS CHRIST they are freaking baby teeth. They will fall off soon enough just like my other kids ffs. *BTW Funny how most of the positive REVIEWS are from people that LIVE IN FAR AWAY STATES !! NO LOCALS !! HAWAII REALLY ?? My daughter lost her tooth when she was 14 months old, she fell down and chipped it, I was so emotional and depressed but Dr. Neal was there for the rescue, not only for the patient but the family, he called us on a weekend just to check how she s doing after the extraction while he was catching a flight at the airport!!!!! It doesn't stop there, each time we go for a visit or we call the office for a concern, they always have a solution, especially the office manager Jocelyn, she is just amazing, helpful and very professional. I used to drive 20mns to get to their office but now I moved farther but still prefer driving 40mns rather than a dentist down the street. I have 2 young boys (5 and 9) and the boys previous dentist was not the best. I was on vacation in Chicago when my oldest son started having pain in front tooth. He would not stop complaining :-/ I yelped and made a few calls. I choose Dr. Neal's office. Dr. Neal's whole office was amazing, even the woman who I spoke with on the phone was polite and informative and was able to accommodate my schedule. My boys each needed a cleaning and a checkup. The office was able to see both of my kids. My oldest needed 2 fillings and my youngest needed no work. This was all a month ago. My oldest has had no pain and tells me his teeth feel great. My youngest was told his mouth was great and he needed to brush more...and he is! 7/5 stars, everyone was amazing, skills of dentist super, my boys loved them. Really I appreciate the fact my boys now have no fear of the dentist. Great office, I recommend them to everyone. read more

Was in the area visiting family and needed to take my niece to the dentist. Dr. Neal and team were super accommodating, making sure we made it to our next appointment on time and getting us in quickly. Dr. Neal's bedside manner was awesome - you could tell he's very patient and great with kids. They were able to get all the plaque build up off her teeth! Daughter loved picking the surprise toy at the end of her visit. Lucky our friends referred us to this office! ( I posted this review on Facebook and they blocked me lol so nobody can see this) A bit disappointed I had seen all the wonderful reviews and was very excited to bring my son in. When I made his appointment I specifically mentioned that this was his first visit and he does not do well with doctors. They said that they would use something to relax him and let him be cooperative. (That's why I decided to look for pediatric. I should of just used my insurance and saved my money)That was not even an option once we got there unless he needed a major procedure. I told my son they where just going to count his teeth and look inside but the nurse was fast to tell him that no they where going to clean his teeth and that made him freak out even more. I also did not appreciate that they kept repeating that for his next visit he should come back on his own. I'm sorry but my son is only 5 years old I don't feel comfortable for him to be on his own. And for paying the $104 office visit it would of been nice to have received his little goody bag since the doctor mentioned he would be putting a couple other items for him. We had a very negative experience with this office. We brought our 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter for a checkup. The dentist and hygienists were extremely judgmental when I mentioned we do not use fluoride on their teeth. I was with my daughter while my husband was with my son, and they told husband it was difficult to floss between my son's molars so he should have x-rays. First, I floss his teeth every day and it is NOT difficult to floss between his molars. Second, they took 6 unnecessary images of my 3 year old's teeth (ie radiation for nothing) and even became visibly annoyed when he struggled to sit still for them (he's THREE). I don't even think the dentist looked at the images, to be honest. Based on his judgmental tone about us not using fluoride, I was SURE he would tell me our son had cavities, and sure enough, he told me he had two cavities with two teeth on watch and he said he would be giving him laughing gas to fill them. (PS - nitrous oxide is not safe for those with MTHFR gene mutations, which is a large chunk of the population.) Our son eats very little added sugar, no juice and we have excellent oral hygiene. I did not trust his assessment. We chose to take him to a different pediatric practice and did not tell the new dentist what was "found". He took a look at his teeth and said, "see you in 6 months!". Unfortunately, I have heard from other parents with similar stories. Lower on the list of annoyances with this practice is they have very large check in screens at the front desk. When we were new patients, I had to enter all of my kids information on the screen with a line of people behind me and everything I typed was clearly visible. I brought this to the attention of the staff but it was still set up this way the next time we came in. It felt like a violation of privacy. I actually wanted to review them on their Facebook page months ago, but noticed I couldn't. We had expressed that we did not want our son getting laughing gas and that we would be seeking another opinion. They realized we were unhappy with their practice and that we were about to find out they lied to us so they banned both my husband and I from their page to prevent a bad review. So if you visit their Facebook page and notice all glowing reviews, just realize they are preventing anyone who is not happy with them from leaving a review. read more

The office staff is super nice and friendly and the dental hygienists are amazing all extremely patient with the kids. My son had a couple cavities and a root canal filled by the female dentists who are fantastic, and so patient. I just don't know how to read the male dentist whose always there. He seems pissed off all the time and like he hates his job. I recommend the practice itself as a whole but maybe request only the women dentist. read more

They are very misleading! It was a great office for kids and staff was very nice but when I asked on the phone if they took my insurance they said yes so I went and then I get a bill for $325 a couple weeks later! They didn't take my insurance! I know I could have made sure which was my fault but when I called and asked why they didn't check to see if they took my insurance she simply said we take anyone who wants to make an appointment. So basically they just want your money! And when I went to make a payment plan they said if your balance is over $300 they charge you a fee of $10 every time you make a payment so I paid it down to $299 to avoid the fee! I have been taking my kids to Chicago Kidds Pediatric for the past few years! We have yet to have anything less than an outstanding experience! We recently moved and I am still making the 1.5 hour drive to keep my kids at this practice. My young son went into the office today for a filling. Everyone went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and relaxed. The minute you enter the office you are welcomed by friendly professional staff. The entire process always goes very smooth (which is ideal when you have kids). Dr. Neil takes his time explaining and discussing everything that is taking place during the visit. I am so happy that we found this office. From the minute we walked in, the staff was so calm and comforting towards my 4 year old son who was extremely anxious. We have had bad experiences at other offices. They took the time to explain everything to him from the cleaning to his "pictures" xrays. Then Dr. Neal came, and he was so nice and made my son actually enjoy the dentist. This is by far the greatest experience that we have ever had! I recommend this office to anyone with children! I was in Chicago and offered to take my 4 year old nephew to his dentist appointment because my sister had a scheduling conflict. My nephew had been to this office before and the staff greeted him as if he was part of their family. I would have never expected a child to be excited to go to the dentist so I had to write this review to give the staff credit. The office was clean, kid friendly, and most importantly, the staff was really put my nephew at ease. We were in and out of the office quickly and without drama. The lead dentist is way too progressive with his approach to taking care of a child's mouth. He looks at the mouth and not the child. He is NEVER afraid to immediately jump to the most extreme level of treatment before analyzing anything less invasive first. I disagreed with his suggestion on treatment on my 2 year old child and I was open about wanting to receive a 2nd opinion. He didn't handle that with professionalism. At all. I went for a 2nd opinion and a 3rd as well. Both other dentist offices were completely against his initial plan of treatment and shocked at what he wanted to do. Needless to say, we switched offices, had her tooth treated way differently than originally suggested and it worked out great. And we paid A LOT less than our quote from here. read more

We were recently in the Chicago area visiting family when my 5 yr old son chipped a tooth while playing with his cousins. My sister-in-law called Chicago Kidds (her kid's dentist) to see if they could see my son on short notice.
