Our tour guide James was amazing! We went on my birthday and the tour was fabulous! I am not a fan of deep dish but left there loving the slice from Bartoli's in the Industrial district! It had a nice crust and hearty flavor! Favorite tavern style pizza hands down was at Flo and Santos! Love their Polish pizza and vodka! I recommend not eating before this tour because you will miss out on all the deliciousness of this experience! The history and experience of this was a lasting impression on us and made my birthday a memorable experience! Thank you to our tour guide for the memories we will be back again!

pizza selection was fabulous, but tour guide James was worth the price of admission. I would have gone on a three hour bus ride with no pizza, just to listen to him. the Pizza was an added benefit.

The Chicago pizza tour is one of the funnest things to do here AND you learn so much Chicago history, while stuffing your face! This is great for visitors or those who have newly moved to the area, of course, but it's even more enjoyable for those who live here because it really shows you how much there is to discover. They rotate through 26 different pizza establishments, so there is a variety offered. You get to stop at four different restaurants and try different pizzas from each one. By the time you get to the fourth and final stop, you are STUFFED! The four places that we tried were: @pizanospizzachi @floandsantos @coalfirechicago @bartolispizza I had only been to one of the places that we went to, so it was a real treat to get to try the three other spots; they were ALL GOOD! The tour is engaging, fun and you get to meet people from all over the US and world. These tickets are worth every penny, especially because you get to take home pizza that you may not have finished! Grab a ticket and go!

Fun and informative way to learn and taste the pizzas of Chicago. The guides are entertaining and make it fun time enjoy the taste of all kinds of pizza. I love that they support locally run places.

Viewing the hottest pizza oven in Chicago after having great New Haven style pizza.

Great pizza and great Chicago pizza history. They do an amazing job of curating a mix of local pizza joints and different pizza styles.

    Flo & Santos, great pizza.

What a surprising and new adventure for this trip to Chicago. Our trip started at 11am, a little early, but it's Pizza. This four stop tour was way better than Gilligan's three hour tour, but with just as many stories and antics. Each pizza joint was different in some way, but each offered something unique. The sauerkraut and kielbasa slice from Flo & Santos was amazing. Coupled with a Polish Pilsner, probably my favorite of the day. I didn't know I needed sauerkraut on pizza, but now it's all I will think about. Our guide was full of great stories about Pizza as well as neighborhoods and Chicago history. The lore of the deep dish demystified, but no spoilers here. This trip was well worth the money and time. So add this trip to your Architectural boat tour and learn about a Chicago favorite food and its history. Highly recommend for something just a little different.,

Chicago Pizza Tours was amazing and exceeded our expectations! We had a group of 16 women celebrating meeting 50 years ago when we pledged our sorority. Jon was so easy to work with - always prompt in his responses to my questions and shared great suggestions. We did a walking tour and the pizzerias we visited were all delicious. If you are looking for a fun adventure in Chicago this should be at the top of your list!

I love food tours so much. Especially when you get a good one like this, where you not only get to explore multiple restaurants but also learn the history of food and the city. Also, the tour uses a school bus to drive you between places, meaning you get to see parts of the city you normally wouldn't as a tourist. Our tour guide, James, was fantastic and very knowledgeable about both pizza and Chicago (and he's funny!). They were able to accommodate vegetarian which was great. We stopped at four places, although I don't think it's always the same four places for the tour, as they have relationships with quite a few pizza places. We stopped at Pizano's, Flo and Santos, Coalfire, and Bartoli's. Pizano's had an amazing deep dish pizza because it was basically a "light" version of deep dish. Cheese, sauce, basil, and a perfect crust. Flo and Santo's was adorable and had Polish influence, and I definitely want to come back for the pierogis. Coalfire was my favorite and had fun specialty pizzas (and lots of veggie options!). They're also from MA (like me!). Their funghi pizza was probably my favorite of the whole tour. Bartoli's was a classic deep dish pizza and by the time we got here, I couldn't take more than a bite. Come hungry to this tour! You will get SO much pizza. Like maybe too much pizza, but in a good way. I had about 6 slices and could've had more because there were plenty of leftovers. Be ready to eat!

I recently experienced the Chicago Pizza Tour through work and it was a great time! We had a group of about 15 people and everyone seemed to really enjoy our three hours with our great tour guide John! Half of the group was visiting from out of town and they really enjoyed trying the different styles of pizza that were available during the tour, as did the locals. We made three stops throughout, the first one was Labriola for burrata and basil deep dish, and I have to say that one was probably my favorite of the night. It was so delicious! Then we made our way to Flo and Santo's which was some amazing tavern style pizza. And lastly we ended the night at Pizano's for both deep dish and tavern style slices. And to top it off we had a cookie skillet with ice cream for dessert -- yum! Each stop also included a drink of our choice. John was so friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job of providing interesting information throughout the tour. He filled us in on some of the history behind these pizza spots and general pizza facts in Chicago, which was really fun to hear. Overall, everyone had a great time and we left feeling quite full. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a fun activity with a large group. Whether or not you're die hard pizza lovers, this is a great time!

What a fun way to spend an afternoon! We did the walking tour and boy am I glad we did because I was definitely full at the end and I can't imagine not being able to walk in between. We visited 4 different spots for 4 different types of pizza. I loved the variety of spots and pizzas! Robert's - thin crust pepperoni Labriola - deep dish Eately - Neapolitan Bar cargo - Roman The best part was Jon, our tour guide and the owner. He was so knowledgeable about pizza! I've never met someone with such passion and knowledge about pizza and toppings. Definitely not to be missed in Chicago.

We had a great time on the Saturday tour! We visited Pizano's, Flo & Santos, Coalfire and Bartoli's. Our tour guide, James, was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating -- there were several vegetarians on his tour, and he made sure there were cheese or veggie options for us at each stop. No one went hungry -- at most stops, we had multiple slices of pizza. At Flo & Santos, James also ordered pierogies for us, as well as a s'mores pizza for dessert. It was overall a really fun tour and a great way to try several pizzerias that I otherwise would not have encountered.

Let me just start by saying that Jonathan is obsessed with pizza in the best way possible. So if you love and enjoy eating pizza while learning about the history of each restaurant and the city of Chicago, this tour is a must do. Don't expect to eat 4 slices of deep dish pizza. The Chicago pizza scene is so much more diverse than that. Thank you to our amazing tour guide and owner of this business, Jonathan. I highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone visiting the windy city.

Bartoli's cozy deep dish pizza place with a southern style cornmeal crust addition. Slightly sweet and deeply delicious!

Great experience. We learned so much about the history of pizza in Chicago and ate some of the best examples out there. From Malnadi relatives to the competitors, learned the difference between deep dish and stuffed, how tavern style got started, and where to get great drinks and other tidbits. All from the humorous James, super-knowledgeable and affable host who kept us entertained and well-fed. Quite the tour that we would recommend, hands down.

My wife did this tour a couple years ago and highly recommended it, but I wasn't especially interested because I had also gone to school here and figured I knew enough about Hyde Park already. However, she insisted that it would be worth our while and so I agreed to climb on the bus. And it was the absolutely right decision, because the tour was excellent. In fact, it wasn't just a tour of Hyde Park. It included the surrounding neighborhoods of Washington Park, Kenwood, Jackson Park, and Woodlawn. Since this was a UChicago sponsored event much of the information related to the University's investment and involvement in the area. Our tour guide and founder of Chicago Detours, Amanda, is herself a graduate of UChicago and thus she had some additional insight into the relationship with the community. Though the 75-minute tour felt a little slow-going at times, there was much to learn about the vibrant but sometimes troubled history of the area. Amanda has tremendous knowledge and the excursion was both fascinating and entertaining. I can imagine that Chicago Detours would have equally interesting tours of other neighborhoods in this diverse city.
