Pitiful! Textbook…read morewhen arrogance meets incompetence. My vehicle was towed from the Maxwell Street parking lot in Calumet Park Illinois. The Crooked Mexicans who work there are in cahoots with rapid recovery Inc tow in Markham Illinois. At 1:00pm After I purchased food my car wouldn't start so I had to walk home and the Mexicans apparently watched me and had rapid recovery inc tow my car. When I came back at 3:30 p.m. the vehicle was gone and I had to figure out that it was towed. After paying the $240 to get the vehicle out I observed money missing because they broke into the vehicle and there was damage to my vehicle. After I got the car from the tow company Markham police told me that I had to make the police report in Calumet Park. I went to Calumet Park police station and sat for 45 minutes only for them to tell me that I had to go to Markham police to make the report. In typical foolish nonchalant above reproach fashion Calumet Park police were wrong for sending me to Markham. The most worthless part about all of this is that after making the police report at the Markham police department it took 2 months for them to finally contact me. They told me that they did not do any investigation because it should have been made in Calumet Park. So apparently the Crooked Mexicans at the Maxwell Street restaurant can be in cahoots with the Crooked Mexicans at the rapid recovery tow in Markham. This is evident because both police departments couldn't care less to even contact these thieves. Maybe I should have said a darker skin black man was involved and they probably would have come running with guns blazing or at least followed through on the investigation. -On a side note when I first got back to try and jump my vehicle in the Maxwell Street parking lot and realized it was gone. the Mexicans I had just bought food from began to act like they didn't speak English. Thinking they stole my car I called Calumet Park police which were literally three blocks away and they never showed up.

So after knowing they sent it to a random address I had to wait another 2 to 3 weeks. Again couple months later I had another priority package and same thing not delivered to my location it's Saturday I have to wait until Monday just to get the run around about how they misplaced my package. How are they not getting internally investigated? They are absolutely terrible incompetent people! My god how can a federal business be so bad? And their is no repercussions so they just can keep doing the same thing over and over again makes me sick!

I stopped at the Pullman branch in order to drop off ballots for the city elections. It's a small…read morebranch but it was hopping today with people there to vote, and election workers trying to talk up their candidates. Voting and ballot drop-off took place in the community room just inside the entrance to the building. This branch has a small parking lot in the back with about twenty spaces, as well as street parking because Green Street is a cul-de-sac here. It's a small branch and a single story, but it's also a newer one having been built in 2005. It's in really good condition I was surprised to find it's been around that long. The architecture is in the prairie style that they've been employing in the newer branches, or at least the ones built around that time. Like many of the newer branches it's LEED certified as well. There's a children's section, and the main room of the library has a large number of computers for the neighborhood's use. When I was there, only one was in use but the dude seemed to be winning his game! They don't seem to have a huge collection of books, actually, though libraries are so much more than that these days; luckily the CPL system is huge and you can get pretty much anything transferred between branches if the local one doesn't have it. Given the location of the branch it's not a surprise that they feature information related to the Pullman company. Specifically, they highlight A. Philip Randolph, an important figure in labor, Pullman company, railroad, and Civil Rights history. He spearheaded the movement to unionize the Pullman Porters, and for his efforts the Pullman Porter museum is named in his honor. They also have some nice artwork; in the main room there are some panels depicting various scenes. In the entrance hall, there are portrayals of both A Philip Randolph and Barack Obama. Almost forgot to mention what I saw I was leaving. There was a little box just inside the door with two boxes of naloxone, aka Narcan, to use in suspected cases of opioid overdose. Since Illinois is a state where anyone is allowed to carry this to provide aid if necessary I've been wanting to pick some up for myself to carry, but I haven't seen it in public spaces to prove assistance. I was pretty glad to see it.

Incredible yet frustrating…read more Amazing yet terribly upsetting Doesn't make sense does it ? It will. As the south side of Chicago gets gobs of money poured into a library the Pullman area which is a staple and a part of chicagos glorious history gets cleaned up and remodeled one small brick at a time. The streets around the neighborhood with broken cement and sidewalks where the possibility of rolling an ankle is very real should be upsetting to all that live in this neighborhood and those that come to visit it's rich history. Out visit to this history rich wonderful part of Chicago history was utterly amazing and upsetting because as millions and millions of dollars gets poured into a monstrosity the people who are trying to keep their heads above water to revive Pullman fight the good fight every day. I grew up on the north side of Chicago. And when I visited Pullman a sense of pride overtook me for all that came before me to bring Pullman to life. We need to bring it back , so visit the visitors center and the learn about this amazing part of Chicago. Now does the beginning of ing of my review make sense ? It sure does to me. God Bless Pullman and all that work hard everyday to bring it back to life.
