The behavior described below is ongoing, inappropriate, and inconsistent with USPS standards of conduct and federal regulations governing mail handling. Summary of Misconduct: The carrier frequently appears impaired while on duty, including smelling strongly of marijuana and exhibiting physical signs consistent with recent use. The Letter Carrier has PITCH BLACK MARIJUANA LIPS!! The carrier has read my personal mail, including postcards related to a personal home matter, and then shared my private financial situation with another individual on my block as the two of them walked while (LAWSON) engaged in conversation. The carrier has torn open legal documents addressed to me and discussed their contents with neighbors. The carrier has repeatedly harassed me verbally, using derogatory and offensive language directed at me. The carrier regularly walks the block with a neighbor while gossiping about my personal information, which he obtained by reading my mail. As I onlooked.... This conduct is not only unprofessional -- it is a violation of federal mail privacy laws, USPS employee conduct rules, and basic standards of respect and integrity. It has caused me distress, embarrassment, and concern for the security of my mail and personal information. Mrs. Johnson answered the phone on a day that I was dealing with a package that needed to be STOPPED from delivery. She stay in touch with me on 3-4 separate occasions to intercept this delivery from being delivered to a family who had lost their Mother. Mrs. Johnson was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeabl. She immediately understood the delicate situation our family was in, and she went Above and Beyond to right the situation. I never do reviews but at this point it's crazy. This is the worst post office in America I have had just 2 important priority packages in the last 4 months the first time I waited days for my package after it said delivered and the supervisor told me they sent it to the wrong address I asked how could they make that mistake the lady says" well I didn't do it!" So after knowing they sent it to a random address I had to wait another 2 to 3 weeks. Again couple months later I had another priority package and same thing not delivered to my location it's Saturday I have to wait until Monday just to get the run around about how they misplaced my package. How are they not getting internally investigated? They are absolutely terrible incompetent people! My god how can a federal business be so bad? And their is no repercussions so they just can keep doing the same thing over and over again makes me sick! read more

This location is SUSPECT! Why you say? I suspect that they stole my Tiffany necklace and bracelet that I physically gave to a clerk there on 7/14/23 to send to Tiffany's repair facility in East Elmhust, NY for a repair estimate. So I digress. Anyways .... During this visit, there were 2 women clerks there and one guy behind the counter who looked as if he was a maintenance man. Anyhoo .... I had the package sent USPS priority mail w/insurance. I checked the tracking info on 7/17/23 which noted that it was delivered and signed by an "individual" on this day. I called Tiffany on Friday, 7/28/23 to get a repair estimate thinking that my jewelry was of course already in their possession. Much to my surprise, a lady at Tiffany's customer service dept goes on to tell me that their log book does say it was received but without any contents in the package. So I contacted the Morgan park post office only to be told that it's highly unlikely that a postman stole my jewelry and that I couldn't file a claim because the package was delivered and I'd have to prove that its a postal worker who stole its contents because the post office did their job. Really??? R u kidding me?? Anyhoo, I contacted the postal inspector division at the post office who informed me that this person gave me incorrect information. That I could and definitely should file a insurance claim to get reimbursed for my loss. I'm so upset that my jewelry was stolen not so much due to the value, but because it held a sentimental value for me. Although I can't prove someone at the Morgan park facility took it, I know in my heart of hearts that they did. Reasons being is because the clerk was completely apathetic to my situation and made no effort whatsoever to try to help me figure out what happened to my jewelry. Also, there were quite a few people in the lobby and working behind the counter who clearly heard me say that I was shipping jewelry to Tiffany and that I needed to insure the package and lastly, this branch has very bad reviews on yelp. read more

I am a very disgusted Customer in a community I have lived in this neighborhood 36 years and I have had nothing but problems with these people from my parents mail a child or an adult now I have problems with these people with my Mail. They have had held mail in the back lost it don't do their job because I came in one day to pick up some mail that they said they did not have one day I made the people go in the back and look again why had an important merchant on the line with me that they could not deny me of looking for it they sat there and one in the back found my mail with rubber bands around with cobwebs on top what does that let you know about this establishment I went in there today I did a change of address in November my mail had I told Gus that my mail was missing and he claims that my mail wasn't missing that I need to do to change your address I bought a PO Box I put that I only wanted me and my husbands name on the PO Box Gus told us that we had to do entire family I told him no he kept going back-and-forth with us saying that he knew what he knew and he's an old man so guess what the loser sat there and messed up Our mail now we're inconvenienced due to the fact that he Couldn't get his shit right I went in there today and I went to look for pieces of mail that Were scanned and informed delivery and they claim that it's at a male plant and that it won't come in till Tuesday so guess what I'm got a lawyer boo-boo and I'm gonna sue You boo-boo personally I'm suing the workers personally personally and Mrs. Price do to emotional distress and tampering with my mail they believe that because they can't lose their job they can do whatever they want to do my mother works for the city of Chicago boo-boo we're going to see about this situation boo-boo read more

This is the third time I've had a package delivered to this location and it comes up missing. Twice it was found after days of coming back over and over again. One package was never found. This place is horrible. In 23 years of living in this neighborhood, nothing has gone right at this facility. I'm hesitant to make Amazon and other e-commerce purchases because we always have issues with these folks. Last year, postal delivery person would not ring my clearly labeled office bell when making several deliveries. This week, I apparently missed a delivery and my package was returned to this house of incompetency. I spoke with a supervisor who told me to pick it up the next day. I returned the next day and the following day to be told both times that it was lost in thus particular post office building. When I spoke to a different supervisor today, I was told she knew nothing about it. No resolution after 30 minutes - just "can't find it." read more

Very poor customer service. I was in post office being serviced and explained I had 8 boxes to bring in for shipping. Although it was close to closing I was told I could ship items with priority and insurance. Of course I get 4 boxes in after providing shipping info and while I'm leaving to get the other boxes the employee tells me she locked the door. She states I will not be able to go back out to get the other 4 boxes I needed to ship. Therefore I cancelled shipping any of the boxes. This post office needs a training course in customer service. I would not recommend and will take my business to another location. read more

The lines can be long, but what really gets me about this place is that the workers are ridiculously lazy and seem annoyed by the customers. They seem to want to make your experience miserable. If your business is at all complicated--that is, something that might require the Postal employee to take an extra step--they will passive aggressively try to confuse you into giving up. It's a marvelous strategy to avoid having to think. They also have the nuclear option, the famous "I checked and your package is not here." I once had a package to pick up there, and it was moderately heavy (25 pounds), and the first time I went there, they claimed they didn't have it. I got Amazon.com involved and I do not know what transpired between Amazon.com and the USPS, but I received a call from the USPS stating they "found" it. I went in to retrieve the package but the workers (none of whom weighed under 250 pounds) said they could not carry it to the front--it was far too heavy--and I wasn't allowed in the backroom. So I can't have my package, I asked? "I don't know what you want me to do," the Postal worker said. I stared at her, knowing that the public would be providing her pension some day. Why do we reward the incompetent? Fortunately, a manager of some sort (I heard bits of his conversation with another employee, and it seemed that he was running some sort of product check) happened to be in the back room and overheard the conversation. "Sir, hang on a minute--I'll bring it out to you," he said. And he did. He tried not to let on that he was disgusted by the person who refused to help me, but I can't imagine he wasn't. This is our go to post office. The lines are not long and the staff is great. There is a parking lot adjacent to the building so you don't have to park on the street. We have been to this location a few times and we never had a problem. They have plenty of shipping materials in stock for people who are mailing packages. They also take appointments for people who are applying for a passport, and will even make copies free of charge of the documents you need. They also stay open later compared to other locations, which is very convenient. read more

First off I will say, the women who I had spoken to over the phone was extremely friendly and informative dealing with my situation. However the an older bald head black man (in the store), was extremely rude and unreasonable with my husband. Not only was he rude, he never explained why my husband could not Pick up my package. I asked my husband to pick my package up because I pulled a ligament in my lower back, so therefore I can't move around to much. So I had to call their store and cuss them out because of how much their Customer service is terrible and how rude this man is. I will never again deal with this GHETTO ass postal service. read more

Unfortunately this is my neighborhood post office. The atmosphere is always glum when I choose to go there. The employees are definitely not the friendliest. My situation needed the assistance of a manager. She took which seemed like forever to come and assist me, she wasn't the most pleasant initially, but then became better as we conversed. They still were unable to rectify the situation on that day, I had to wait another 3 days until everything was resolved. Customer service in any industry can be difficult & some people just don't possess the necessary skills to handle the public. The disposition of the personnel is poor at best, their body language suggests they don't want to be bothered and their tone is unenthusiastic. I've read several reviews on this post office and they all appear to carry the same message. This post office is poorly ran and seems as though no one really cares about the customers. With all this being said, my husband and I choose not to patronize this particular location. Instead, we will travel out of our way to have a pleasant experience. read more

I had two missing packages and Ms. Price was the specialist handling my claim. she called and insured me she would get to the bottom of things. The issue was resolved two days later. Her customer service was awesome. She even called for a follow up after the packages were delivered. I have had several bad encounters with the customer service reps at the front desk, so I was hesitant about even making a clam. Ms Price handled things quickly and efficiently and I'm very grateful. read more

In my many years of dealing with the US Postal Service I have never encountered an employee with such vitriol toward a customer as I experienced today (11:38 am) at the Morgan Park Branch located at 1805 West Monterey in Chicago, IL. When the agent told me the anticipated delivery date on a Priority Mail envelope, I inquired about the difference in service between priority and an envelope sent by first class mail, I replied that it should be sent by Priority Mail as I planned. I placed the money for the service on the counter she said that it had to be placed in her hand. Although, I complied with her request I asked the reason she was displaying such a negative attitude. Her response was, "I don't have a negative attitude and everything should be placed in my hand" followed by additional comments. Hopefully, her lack of professionalism is not symptomatic of other employees at this location. read more

This post office is the worse! This was my second stop this month at this location. The 1st stop I called to see if they take passport photos there, the response was "yes". I get there with my 13 year old daughter, my husband ready to apply for my daughter's passport. After waiting in a long ridiculous line I finally make it to a clerk, I was greeted with a I don't want to say hi, but I have to type of attitude. I told her that we were there to have my daughter take her photo and mail off her passport application, she states "We don't do that here", I said "What?" She said "pictures you have to come back with the pictures, but by the time you get back today I will be done with passport applications". I tried explaining to her that I called before we came and she said "Well I don't know who told you that, but I don't take pictures for passports". I left highly upset because I know I am on a deadline to get this submitted. I then come back today Saturday, husband, daughter, pictures in tow. Same clerk, she said it is after 1 and she doesn't do passports after 1pm. Now I'm livid, I pull up the website and ask the speak with a manager. The manager comes out the back and says "Yeah we do stop at 1, but I'm not sure why they haven't changed it on the website." After pretty much begging and pleading with her, she walks over to the passport clerk and talks to her for about 5 mins, trying to convince her to do it. She finally comes back and had the nerve to tell me that the clerk has been working hard all morning and that they normally don't do this but since it's only 1:15 they are going to go ahead and do it, but next time they have to stick with 1pm. I walk back over to the clerk and started to give her everything and she looks at the photos and said with an attitude "Um well these are kinda blurry and some of her head is cut off, I'll send it but they gonna send these back." Now just furious I told her to give me back everything because I cannot deal with her attitude for another minute. I wanted to go on and on but I didn't because my daughter was with me but I am just so upset!!! read more

Some of the staff is extremely nice and helpful, but one individual there is rude, condescending and needs to consider retirement. They've lost my certified mail and this person is trying to send me off to another post office like I'm stupid. Just not willing to help like I was interrupting her day. Thankfully someone else is investigating. If you don't like your job, please find a new one. In the meantime, I'm still waiting/looking for my lost check. read more

Had anyone ever had a positive experience at the post office? If the post office would open a couple more windows once a large line formed, I think it would run more smoothly...anyways, aside from the usual line, I'd say they moved very efficiently and I wasn't there long. I wish I caught his name, but according to my receipt, "clerk 15" was VERY helpful and didn't make me feel terrible when I messed up my package. He was patient and even saved me few bucks by suggesting a flat rate box. It was by far the best experience I'd ever had at the post office. That is all. read more

I have yet to experience long lines but that's due in part to me getting there around closing time I gather. What I have experienced is similar to another person's review; the "I'll speak to you because technically I have to greet you but I really don't want to because ugh" kind of attitude. Also, if I ask you something, as a professional, which these people should be and act, your answer should never be "nope." Try, "I'm sorry but we can't/aren't allowed to do that" or "That's not something we offer." Nope? Are you 15? In this day in age, in any day and age, you should be blessed to be employed. There are a lot of people who are struggling to find work. I'm blessed to be employed. If you are not a people person, don't take a job where you have to deal with the public in any fashion. Your job isn't the hardest job on the planet but that doesn't mean it's without its struggles. That just means that the person you dealt with before I approached that counter, has nothing to do with me and vice versa. Lack of information. Snarky. Unprofessional with regards to communication. I'm giving them two stars because I've dealt with two ladies and a gentleman and the gentleman was this post office's saving grace. read more

This is by far the worst post office. The box indicates the time they pick up mail, however based on my conversation with a supervisorit is wrong. I dropped somethong on the mail box on Saturday by mistake afterthe last pick up. Showed up early Monday morning and was told that the mail had gotten picked up. I decided to come back and wait for the 10am pick up trunk to see if they would check, waited 15 minutes at the turnstile mailbox by the post office and no one came. The basic situation is that an undeliverable slip was left for a package that the mail person never rang the doorbell to attempt to deliver on 9/3/15. After receiving the notice, my aunt called the post office to tell them that they had been there the whole time and she was told to call back before 8:30am the next morning (9/4/15) to request a redelivery. She called at approximately 7:20 am this morning, spoke to Ms. Bivens and was told that it would be sent back out for delivery today. The mail person showed up after around 2pm without the package, so we went to the post office with the undeliverable slip to retrieve the package. I am appalled at the gross display of customer service, or better yet the lack thereof that we experienced at the Morgan Park post office when we arrived. There were two clerks on duty at approximately 2:45pm on 9/4/15 when my aunt and I entered to pick up a package that had failed to be delivered as indicated. I was initially pleased that it was not crowded and that we were called to the window within a few minutes, but this ended abruptly when were immediately met with an attitude...not a "hello", "how are u"...but an attitude as if we had some nerve to even have entered the building. My aunt asked the clerk (she said her name was Lori) if the person she had spoken to earlier that morning was available (Ms. Bivens). The clerk's response was "Maybe, who's asking?" We kept our composure and didn't respond to her ignorance in kind. My aunt provided her name and the reason for her earlier call, but the clerk cut her off and said she didn't need the details. She left the counter and upon her return stated that Ms. Bivens was at lunch and would be gone for an hour. As we attempted to work with Lori to resolve the package issue she was quite combative as evidenced by her harsh tone,slightly louder than necessary voice, and finger pointing/gesturing. However, I will say that she eventually adjusted her attitude and successfully closed the service loop with us. However, the other clerk (didn't catch her name) engaged in an all out screaming match with the customer she had. A few of her statements to the customer were, "It's not my fault you don't know how to fill out an envelope, we learned that in the 1st grade." "Take your package to UPS or wherever..." Well into the commotion an alleged manager appeared with no sense of urgency and apparently wasn't very helpful seeing as though the foolishness was still going on as we left. The whole ordeal was immature and beyond ridiculous, ignorant, and ghetto. SERIOUS disciplinary action needs to be taken. NOTE TO ALL SERVICE WORKERS: There is NEVER a good reason to engage in a shouting match with a customer. You don't allow anyone to belittle you; nevertheless, you should attempt to de-escalate the situation and if you can't, hand it off to colleague. read more

I try to avoid this post office due to the long lines and bad service, but since it's so close I always end up here. This morning there were 3 workers when I walked in. There were about 3 people in front of me, when one worker left for her break. One of the employees was working hard and getting the line, which had grown a lot since I'd entered, down. The other worker was chatting with a customer for about 10 minutes. Once that customer had finished, she put up a closed sign and proceeded to sit there. When someone asked about the passport services, which a sign says is open from 10-1pm on Saturdays, she said that she was out and that someone could help her at 12:30, despite what the sign says. One of the worst ... These ladies are so amazingly entitled. I grew up in the area and during my childhood, as were many things, a job at the post office came with pride and garnered respect. Maybe that's why these ladies have such a horrible customer service standard? It never fails when I go to this satellite that someone is munching on chips, conducting social convo with a co-worker ... Anything but calling on folks standing in line awaiting service. Happened this morning. Two windows. Two customers. When I walked into the line, the poor senior standing there awkwardly holding her parcel looked on the brink. I asked her if I could help and, seeing the two clerks milling about behind the window, asked how long she had been waiting. At that moment, one of the women gave a half-hearted "Next!" When I was called to the other window, the clerk was so nasty it was as if she had a bit of poo on the tip of her nose. Trust me ... I only go occasionally out of a necessary convenience. If you can avoid this one, do yourself a favor. The clerks are not at all friendly and, worse, act as if customers should be waiting on THEM. read more

On 02/08/2014 a carrier driving vehicle 7224503 from the morgan park usps office located in chicago rang my door bell. I went down to answer and saw that the carrier was about 5 houses away and had left a sorry we missed you slip in my mailbox. I grabbed the slip and went down the street to catch the mailman. When i got to him I showed him the slip and asked for my package. He then said I would have to wait for it as it was in his van which was about a half a block down the street. I asked him how could he leave a undeliverable slip at my door if he didnt even have the package. He then got upset and started cussing me out and talking about the snow and then asked me if I want to go to jail. I said to him how are you getting mad when you are the one thats caught not doing your job. He proceeded to tell me that I was threatening him and that since I questioned him he wasnt even going to give me the package and that I would have to go to the post office to pick it up now.Then he kept saying, "you know what" and then proceeded to make a phone call on his phone. I said fine and that I would speak with his supervisor when I got there. I filed a complaint at my local post office with Mrs Brown a supervisor and she apologized and told me she would wait for the carrier to return and have my package re delivered. When I returned home the police were awaiting at my residence. The carrier filed a false police report stating I threatened him. this is a complete abuse of the federal protection that postal workers have. I am livid that when I asked a question to the postal worker he got mad and started cursing and could be able to file a complaint against me. I plan on taking this matter as high as I can go until it is resolved. I have continued to have misdelivered packages and finally was able to understand why. Because the postal workers are not even attempting to deliver the packages and are lying on the statuses. I will post this review on every review board I can find.
