This is a very small museum. It had a few glass cases of signed memorabilia, mostly jerseys. It's not very expensive so if you have 10 minutes, it's a quick walk through. It does have a few interactive things for kids. The computer game was definitely broken. It is very clean inside. No one was taking tickets at the gate. read more

The museum was good but the restaurant wasn't good at all. This bartender is the rudest person and very unpleasant. No professionalism whatsoever . No name tag and wouldn't provide her name either . I didn't know this was here until I searched around online, looking for things to do in Chicago. I'm not a diehard Chicago sports fan but I thought this museum was fun and interactive. It's located on level 7 of the Water Tower and admission is $10 for an adult. You don't need a guided tour or anything. Since it's kind of hidden and not too many people know about this, it wasn't even busy when I went. You also have the whole place to yourself. Be sure to look on the website because if there's a private event going on, then the museum will be closed. I went on a weekday so there wasn't an issue. read more

I'm a die hard Houston everything sports fan, but there is no denying Chicago had a rich history in the sports world. This cool museum is located in the Water Tower Place shopping center which is a short walk from the Magnificent Mile. It is connected to Harry Caray's restaurant. If you dine there, you get free admission into the museum, or you just pay a small entrance fee. We decided to check it out on a whim. It's not that big, but its filled with cool memorabilia and actual items from some of Chicago's biggest sports moments. They also have a few cool interactive features as well. Overall it was a cool place to check out and since the price was low, I felt it was a good value for what you get. Would I come back? Doubt it. It's cool to see atleast once. read more

Well this is the last celebration because it was a late belated birthday of an aunt in law but other than that it was much better than where I came from yesterday. Despite that they didn't have Ada parking at least they had the heated garage downstairs and I only have to pay $13 and I was getting tired of Chinese food or any Asian food that we finally had American food of roast beef salmon Italian American pasta I would possibly recommend if you have the means or funds to having a celebration here like a banquet hall especially for kids other than that last of the after Thanksgiving parties until next time and it's held here at the water tower next to Harry Carey's restaurant which I did not know they had one here besides the one in Michigan avenue which is more of a formal steakhouse from Harry caray the announcer for the Chicago Cubs game read more

The last big party I threw before the pandemic was for my company right here at the Chicago Sports Museum. It was an incredibly fun and easy venue with tasty food and lots of entertainment. When I took my kids back to the museum last weekend for some covid friendly fun I found myself wishing we could throw those types of parties again....and hopefully soon! My kids think Water Tower is the best place on earth so we walked all the way there from JoJo's Shake Bar last weekend, which also happens to have a kiosk right in Water Tower (good to know for next time). After a little bit of shopping at Water Tower I felt like we needed an activity so headed up to the Chicago Sports Museum. The best deal is to eat at Haray Caray's for free admission to the museum, but we had stuffed ourselves at JoJo's so paid the museum entrance: $10/adult, $6/kid. My kids aren't into sports, but still had fun comparing the size of their feet and hands to Chicago sports players and playing the sports simulator games. We were easily able to kill 45ish minutes there. And best of all there weren't many others there, which made it a pandemic safe activity....and there was lots of hand sanitizer placed throughout the museum. I imagine Chicago sports lovers would be happy here for even longer and always thought it was the perfect venue for a sports loving bar-mitzvah. If you happen to be the area it's a great quick activity to kill some time and here's to hoping they'll be booked with lots of parties in the near future! read more

The Chicago Sports Museum is located in Water Tower Place on the 7th floor at 835 N. Michigan Avenue. It is adjacent to Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch restaurant. The museum itself is highly interactive and great foyer kids. If you pay the $10 admission price and then eat in the restaurant on the same day before 6 pm, they will give you a credit of $10 for each ticket that was purchased. Take your time to walk around and soak in all of the Chicago memorabilia that is on display here. You should reserve anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to really be able to enjoy the Chicago Sports Museum. There is a gift shop where you can purchase your own souvenirs to take home with you, but I was disappointed to find that most of the items were made in China. As the prices are on the higher side, I recommend that you go to Walgreens or any of the local stores nearby as I have similar items for less money. Also, take time to check out the items on both sides of the walls in the hallway between the museum and the restaurant, you can take a picture with the bronze bust of Harry Caray & make yourself into a football player with the standee that is at the end of the hallway. read more

So massive that I didn't make it to every part of this venue/restaurant, but what a fantastic location for a party! Since it's New Year's Eve, I figured I'd leave this review for the end of the year to keep up with the party theme. Our company's holiday event took place at this location in Water Tower...right around the corner from Candyality (love that business). I'm not very sports-minded, so I've always passed by this stop on my regular mall shopping trip. But, what a fun place...one that you'll want to bring your visiting family or kiddos back to. The place is ginormous and has several rooms. In fact, I was searching for a co-worker all night, and we randomly bumped into each other on my way out and didn't realize that we were in these other whole party areas. We finally figured out why we never found one another - LOL! From ping pong to pinball, you'll also discover more fun photo opportunities than you can imagine. For example, put your head on the football player body, hockey player, etc. They also have some pretty cool virtual experiences, like getting the opportunity to shoot a basketball on a pro court (be like a real Bull)! There are cases and photos filled with sports memorabilia. Even someone like me really appreciated having a look down sports memorabilia lane. I only had the chance to try the burger bites, because I was so overwhelmed with trying to see everything, but they were delicious! Yes, there was a Harry Caray look alike, and he was hilarious. Also, the look alike Mike Ditka was actually personally chosen by Mike Ditka to be his representative (fun fact). We were also visited by mascots, sports players on stilts, referee jugglers, and so many other characters. Take note, the coat check is a bit of a nightmare. It's outside of the party space in a separate area, and it took a super long time to get everyone through. They did their darndest to get people in and out, but I didn't have a coat and thought it was the line to get into the party and stood behind everyone forever. I couldn't see the entrance to the party area, because the Santa photo booth area was blocking my view. Top Tip: If you're there for a large party and need to use the washroom, I recommend using the family washroom--no lines and super clean. What a fun night! read more

Did not expect much, but was pleasantly surprised and had fun for about an hour. You can get in free if you eat at Harry Carey's. Or you can ask nicely, and they will give you some free passes. There is lots of memorabilia, specifically about Chicago teams. There are also several interactive displays, and games for you to try. The place is so spread out that you feel like you have the pace to yourself, and the main part of the museum is in a conference room type area. You first learn about the fundamentals of various pitches, and then get to try to see what your own vertical leap is. You can also try the home run challenge, three point shot competition, football challenge, and hockey challenge. All games are similar technology and simple to use. Plan for about an hour depending on if you like to read everything or play all of the games. Location is on the 7th floor of the Water Tower building. read more

Since it's owned by Harry Caray's restaurant, the term 'museum' should be used loosely when referring to this place. That in mind there are good points and things to consider. On the plus side it's $6/person to get in and free if you dine at Harry Caray's. You can't park for a New York minute out on the street for $6 so it's a good deal. The museum itself has a decent number of displays with a good number of them being interactive games that don't function consistently. The exhibits are okay but they could have sectioned off the separate sports teams and given them a great deal more of historical perspective. Or..they could take the term 'museum' off and call this what it really is..an interactive collection. I wasn't exactly disappointed with the place as I figured this was what it would include. I'd just like to see the day when a real Chicago Sports museum is built with a holistic perspective of each team. Cheers. read more

No idea why the reviews are so low! I came here with my sister and we had so much fun! It costs about $6 per person, however if you eat at Harry Caray's restaurant you can get the tickets for free, it's about one ticket per meal. Our meal costed about $22, and we got two free tickets. It was definitely worth it. There is a lot of information of the history of the Chicago Sports teams, a lot of games to play, and just overall a lot of fun! I mean I was there for about 45 minutes, but I easily could have been in there for a good 1.5 hours just reading everything and playing all the games. When we went, there was absolutely no one in there. So we got the entire museum to ourselves. Well, the pros are it is either free if you eat at Harry Caray's Seventh Inning Stretch or $6 and you really only have to go there once and never again. So, the $6 is worth it. It's fun for kids because it has a lot of interactive items. Things are getting run down and there is always at least a couple of interactive items that are not working. We had free tickets from dining at Harry Caray's a while ago (which was the worst experience we have ever had at a HC restaurant) and then to top it off the museum was closed for a private event. So, this time we didn't have to eat there and went in for free. Unless you have younger children, you will be in and out in about 30 minutes to an hour. It's good for Chicago sports fans and lots of photo opportunities, but this is not the kind of place you go repeatedly. I do recommend going at least once. read more

This is one of those times I could just write a review without a score, because, honestly, it's a cool diversion that comes with your meal at Harry Carry's (or $6 at the gift shop). The problem is you'll have seen and done everything in one trip and will never have to visit again. If you're ok with that, then go for it. It's particularly appealing if you have kids and they've got some energy to burn, as there's a number of interactive demos that will entertain and educate. I am writing this review specifically of the Chicago Sports Museum as a event or wedding venue! We had our wedding here in June and it was AMAZING. The museum and staff are extremely flexible, and can remove a ton of the exhibits that are in the center of the space so you have all the room you need. We had about 150 people and it felt like plenty of space. The staff was unreal. Absolutely no one waited for a drink - we had several guests comment about how refreshing it was to attend a wedding where it actually seemed like there were enough staff members to provide exceptional service. The food options are basically endless. You can opt for plated dinners, a buffet package, or some a combination of several "stations". We opted for the latter and it was perfect for us. We had plenty of food, and people had almost endless options. The exhibits and memorabilia made for an awesome experience for our guests. We are both huge sports nuts, but even our guests who aren't loved the games and having something interactive to do (especially while waiting for the wedding party to arrive). They worked flawlessly with all of our vendors - even with Insomnia Cookies (an outside food vendor not associated with Harry Caray's), which we had delivered to serve instead of cake. We served these with the venue's butler-passed mini milkshakes, which was a HUGE hit. You also can't forget to mention the awesome view - our wedding was on Saturday, and so we were treated to a fireworks show at Navy Pier, which we could see perfectly out the windows. I could never write this review and not mention the man behind the curtain - Samson, our event coordinator. He was AMAZING. He truly went above and beyond to make sure we had all of our questions answered and felt prepared and stress-free the day of the event. He met with us as many times as we wanted and answered all of my emails same-day (which can be tough to come by in the wedding industry). If you even KIND OF like sports, this is a truly awesome venue! read more

Looking for an event space that is creative? Tired of having your fundraisers at a boring old banquet hall? The Chicago Sports Museum is for you! We had the annual C2ST gala here and it was such a wonderful event. The space was the perfect size for our guests and the food was fantastic. Everyone loved the sliders and the vegetable plate was scrumptious. The cocktails were also divine. Our guests had a wonderful time interacting with the various exhibits. I'm a little bummed this place only has two stars. It costs $6 (that's a third of the price you just paid to stand in line for an hour to go up 94 floors for 15 minutes). Plus if you go to the sports bar next door you get free admission! There are jerseys from all the Chicago sports but the focus of this place I'd say is on the interactive stuff. Compare your high jump to Michael Jordan. Compare your hand to Scotty Pippin. Run a CT scan of Sammy Sosa's corked bat. Test your goalie abilities. Plus you can record a video of yourself doing a Harry Carey impression (unless you're by yourself and there are people around and you don't want to look TOO ridiculous...) There's an entire room dedicated to the superstitions and curses behind the cubs plus another room of x-box type games where you can home run, free throw, and throw passes to your hearts content. I had a lot of fun here...and I was by myself! I think kids would have a BLAST here. You could bring them for an entire afternoon and they'll play the games and run around. It's great. 2 part review: WATCH OUT FOR FALSE ADVERTISING THAT IS PLASTERED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING ON MICHIGAN AVENUE. Admission is only free if you dine there. From the street one can only see the "Free Admission" advertisement, but if you back up 2 blocks away, you can see the inclusion that it reads: FREE ADMISSION For Restaurant Guests. And the manager, Matt, was completely unreasonable when I tried to explain that my son wanted to go in and the sign says "FREE ADMISSION." If was only after he rudely told me for diners only, that I went down to the street level and 2 blacks away so I could see the caveat. 09/13/21 Well.....the issue with this place continues, however it extends to the Joanna, the Vice President of the Harry Caray Restaurant Group. I spoke with her on August 4 and explained the situation. I also told her that I wrote a negative review and requested a refund of the $10 entrance fee. She also asked for a screen shot of my review which I texted to her and she confirmed receiving it. I requested the refund out of principle, as the advertisement for "free admission" is misleading. Joanna agreed to send me a check for the $10 IF I removed the negative google review. I agreed to do so- actually, I would have amended my review to put a positive spin on it by explaining that in the end, the right thing was done and an attention customer service was displayed. HOWEVER, I have never received the refund and have texted and left countless voicemails for Joanna, both on her cell phone and her office line. She is literally dodging my calls and will not call me back. This is beyond unprofessional and I am floored by how this entire ordeal has been handled. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised to be treated like this by a company that misleads their customers. Is the $10 refund itself going to make a big difference? No, not the financial aspect of it. But it's all about doing the right thing, being professional, holding up her end of a deal. I agreed to remove the negative review after receiving the refund, but Joanna has reneged on the agreement. "Reneg" is a perfect word to describe what has happened....Reneging refers to a situation where one party goes back on a promise or breaks an agreement or contract that they had previously accepted. Every day, individuals and businesses enter into verbal or written contracts that they are expected to abide by the terms of. This is what I expect of Joanna, especially in her role as the Vice President of the company. It is so disappointing when someone doesn't hold up their end of the deal. Not to mention downright unprofessional. But, if someone is going to mislead the public on "Free admission," why am I surprised that there are other aspects of dishonesty in place? read more

We we're in Chicago for three reasons. Our honeymoon, the Blackhawks and the Cubs. Being huge sports fans, we had high hopes when we saw ads for the new Chicago Sports Museum at the Water Tower Place. This is now a museum / Harry Caray's restaurant. The museum being the attraction to us. It's $6 per adult to get in. Being in a mall like the Water Tower Place, we knew it wouldn't be huge but thought it would have quality artifacts and exhibits as the website states. Looking more into the experience online I got excited when I read about interactive exhibits. (Stop a shot by Patrick Kane, hit a homerun with Frank Thomas or shoot hoops with Scottie Pippen) to name a few. I felt let down by the faults of these experiences, they go off of the kinect technology made popular by Microsoft. I'm not sure if it's a problem of where the "eye" is that it wouldn't catch my movements or what but none of them worked. Kids seemed to get them to work at times but even they were getting frustrated. There was a one-on-one sports trivia game which I thought might make up for a faulty game but even that didn't work. Aside from some game worn equipment and Sammy Sosa's corked bat, there isn't much to see. There's even one "exhibit" to see where you can recreate the exploding baseball that was supposed to help destroy the curse of the Cubs but by pressing down on the "detonator", all that happens is lights flash and it makes noise. The best part of the museum was comparing your vertical leap to Michael Jordan's, that's something that actually has buttons and can't be screwed up by a virtual gaming system. I feel like this place could have a lot more things like the former ESPN zone used to, to make this a quality and enjoyable experience for fans of all ages. I'll never go back. read more
