Very nice space packed with illusions, many classics but some unusual ones. And staff were great, from the front desk to the manager to the lady who helped us fully experience the exhibits with hints on how to see them best, and ideas (plus some had photos nearby with suggestions.) Kind of small, we spent about an hour, but had a lot of fun. We went right when they opened on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded then, but things picked up by the time we left. So come early to have a bit more freedom to roam. read more

Being from out of state, I wasn't sure how long it would take us to navigate from a parking garage to where the museum was. Speaking of, I had already bought a pre-booked discounted parking pass, but the museum does give a deal for the Randolph Wabash Self-Park Garage, so consider that before heading there. I took a chance and "walked in" with my kids, without a reservation. Luckily, spots were available and we jumped right in. The front of the house got a bit crowded so we chose to start all the way in the back and reverse direction from the other groups. That worked well. We had so much fun here. I wasn't sure if it would be worth the money but we ended up spending a decent amount of time on the exhibits, especially the photo ops. Capturing the illusions made us laugh and good memories were made. I appreciated the staff members that hung out and offered to take pics at the best angles and offered suggestions. It's nice to not always be the picture taker but actually be in the photo as well. It's hard to find family activities that a 9, 17 and 44 year old can equally enjoy but this did it. read more

What an absolute waste of time & money. You can literally get though this entire museum in 15 min or less & that's doing absolutely every exhibition. Staff is ready at some places to accommodate picture taking or instruct on how exactly to take advantage of best picture options. I was pissed after leaving here. Kids had a great time. The exhibits were awesome and it was definitely a highlight of our Chicago trip.

I arrived around 11am on Friday morning with my son and sister using using Go City All inclusive pass. We were told it was sold out and to come back at 12:20pm We came back at 12:15pm. It seemed busier than it was the first time. For the popular illusions, we kinda felt rushed due to people waiting and wanting to be considerate. Also, with a lot of people present, they were in the way of some of the photos, even though it wasn't intentional. I've been to a couple of these illusions museums in other cities. For the most part, the illusions were the same. They did have a few that were different. Overall, it was a decent experience. We weren't there very long because there wasn't a lot to it. Staff was available to help take pictures at time. The gift shop was small and the puzzle area was packed. read more

There are things to do in this great city and this is not one of them. It is basic optical illusions with mirrors. You can do it at home. To call this a museum is a misnomer, it is a pathetic money grab at best. Save your money, use your time in Chicago better by going elsewhere. You can do the entire thing in 10 minutes and then wonder why. You will have learned nothing and hardly been entertained. Go to the museum of Industry, it will educate you and your kids all day with fun interactive displays. Really, no need for this business to exist. read more

This is a very unassuming (from the street) "museum" but it exceeded our expectations and is worth a visit (at least once). I brought my daughters (under 10) here and we had a blast! The museum itself has a good number of exhibits with explainations posted next to them. In each "room" there are sure to be a few that will immediately grab attention. In total, I'd say we took 45 mins (?) to cover the museum part. At the end there is, of course, the gift shop. However, they have some really nice wooden toys/puzzles for purchase that seem like some quality items (and not some normal junk you find). Additionally, the other half of the gift shop has a bunch of puzzles you can play with and we probably spent another hour between the two sides. It was great fun! In fact, I'd say it's like a two-part journey: museum and gift shop. To top it all off, the staff is friendly and everything is realatively well taken care of. It's clean and doesn't show too many signs of age. There was only one "out of order" exhibit when we visited. After having gone I immediately recommended it to a friend. She brought her three kids the next day and their feedback was identical to mine. Definitely worth the visit (even if the admission fee is a bit steep...). read more

We bought tickets online on the way there and they were $5 cheaper. Be cognizant of the fact that the entrance is on a different street then the exit. Upon entering, we'd chosen 1:20pm to enter and the attendant checked us in. The entrance and first few exhibits were busy but we waited for people to move around. Getting further into the museum, people that came in behind us began to catch up and sort of interfere with our experience. There were a lot of unattended children causing a ruckus. IDK if they're understaffed but we could've used a third person to take a photo in some places. One did become available towards the end. How did I fall for this one again? It's just like the ice cream museum - overpriced and incredibly short. We were reading the prompts and took a few pictures, even with that it took 30 minutes, tops. None of the exhibits were mind blowing and they were all super common. I've seen them all before. I paid $70 for my nephew and I, and this was unnecessarily expensive. The gift shop is sad and so is the puzzle area. Nothing is intriguing. The staff were nice and they were available to take pictures. Other than that, I would not recommend and I would not come back. I would love to have my money back, or at least half. Especially in this economy. This was supposed to be a treat and I do not understand the five star reviews on here. read more

While the staff here was super helpful and friendly, I would say this place is just not worth the price of admission. It's only one floor and the illusions don't take much time to work through. In comparison, it was cheaper to get tickets to the Art Institute and that took several hours to see everything, this attraction took less than an hour. It's be worth it if you had a discount code and needed to entertain older kids, but you can get better bang for your buck elsewhere. read more

The Museum of Illusions is cool and a good time was had but there's a few things to know before you commit. For three adults and one child under 12 was about $160. That includes all the fees as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They will take pictures of you utilizing the illusions. You can get through the whole museum in about 30 minutes. It took us only about 20 minutes. Most of the illusions were neat and fun to play around with. I appreciate that I went and had a good time but it's not worth the price given the size of the museum. read more

Quite an illusion right from the start. The address is 35 West Washington Street, when you get there, the entrance is around the corner on Wabash avenue! Once inside though, wonderful illusions to enjoy,puzzles to see and try to Solve. The staff is wonderful. They will help you understand any of the illusions, as well as assist with you taking photographs. If you're steady on your feet, and don't get motion sickness, try the tunnel.Public Parking garage is a block and a half away. Public transportation is nearby. read more

From the very beginning to the very end, it was fun, fun and more fun! Every little details of an illusion was so satisfying ... I loved all of it! I decided to go by myself because none of my friends had time for this. And I have to tell you, even if you go by yourself, there is an employee on every single illusion project and every single one of them are willing to help you out with your photo project, so you won't miss out on any fun! This was so much fun if you were looking for something fun to do with family friends yes visiting to Chicago. This place is amazing the angles and how the imagery plays with your brain making you think that you see things that may or may not be there images that are moving some that are not moving. Friendly staff. Very fun family outing. I loved optical illusions as a kid so I was pretty excited to go check this out with my daughter and niece. It wasn't crowded, kind of timed so that people aren't waiting and crowding over each other at each installation. Lots of activities to look at, take photos And there are even puzzles to play around with. We loved: 1) The room with the bridge that you walk across. OMG. A straight eye rollercoaster. 2) The mirror room where it looks like there are about 5 million of you in there but it's just your reflection lol. 3) The huge kaleidoscope 4) Tertiary Lights wall (my favorite) 5) All of the photo ops So fun, kind of a quick visit where you don't need to spend too much time in the museum but fulfilling and fun. read more
