I'm not sure if you've seen the instagram worthy treats that Chick Boss Cake has been churning out but I fangirled a little bit when I found out they were opening a spot in London. I ordered one of their custom cakes from their St. Thomas location and it was perfect. From the taste to how beautifully decorated it was. I dont think there's another place like this in the area. Their treats are creative, colourful and very adorable. We recently took a break and visited the new location on Wellington Street. I loved the space, very welcoming and the Disney music over the PA was a soundtrack any millennial can get into. This place has instagram written all over it! From the decor to the signs on the walls, get those gifs and hashtags ready because Chick Boss Cake has just what you need for that perfect post. We ordered a few cupcakes, macarons and butter tarts. I got the milk and cookies cupcake and I really enjoyed it! It came with a little baster filled with a creamy icing which gave it an interactive spin. The cookie on top was nice and soft. The macaron however, was not the best. I bit into it and *BOOM*. It exploded! The top and bottom were very hard, almost like a candy shell. It broke into a bunch of pieces and was full of air on the inside. It didn't taste like much other than sugar, and definitely nothing like the mini eggs it was supposed to taste like. Considering the price, if I decide to visit again I would probably stick to the cupcakes. I'd love to try the donuts but they seemed to only sell them in packs of 6. I would consider ordering their cakes or cupcakes for a special occasion. The service was really good and the people behind the counter were super sweet but I think they missed the mark a little bit as they focused a little too much on fashion over function. If anything goes wrong with your order, then... Well, you just better hope nothing does. Otherwise you're SOL. Bland, dry cakes. If you're not satisfied with it, the owner turns it around and makes it appear it's your fault. While now looking up this business online I see others have also had issues with their cakes and have even gone as far as throwing most of it out because no one is willing to eat the decorated saw dust, but the owner will say it was fine, and perhaps just offer you a coupon (not eligible on cakes!). Oh, AND if you've paid for an order and try cancelling nearly a month in advance - you're still SOL. Seemingly there's no refunds, even with lots of notice. $85-100 on a cake? "Sorry about that, but thanks for the money!" Best just to steer clear and find a real bakery, one who actually cares about the customers they're servicing and aren't JUST in it for the money. read more

I'd like to start my post by saying they have lovely customer service. We saw their promo on Instagram on a free pack of donuts with the purchase of a dozen "items" (cupcakes, macaroons, etc) Long story short, one of the employees was not aware it was for ALL items. I later spoke with someone else and, although the morning promo was over, still gave us the free donuts. Amy was very kind and helpful. :) Thank you! About Chick Cake Box: This is definitely a beautiful "social media post worthy" place to visit. We bought the macaroons and donuts and would have the say the macaroons were delish! The donuts were a bit cake-y but so beautiful. Would need to pre order donuts as there weren't any in store... same with cakes. :) I would come again to try the cupcakes or crazy fab shakes. Today was the 3rd time I attended an event where the host had a Chick Boss Cake, and it was 3 for 3 dry, tasteless, and underwhelming. In this instance it was a child's birthday party and the cake was the dino style but with generic superhero decorations swapped in. While nice, not anything you can't get literally anywhere else, including a high end grocery store, and then at least it won't taste like it was baked several weeks ago. Of 10 children and 4 adults not one piece of cake was fully eaten, unless you count the frosting. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

Ordered 2 cakes. The delivery and everything was excellent, the girl delivering was super nice. The look of the cakes was great, really professional (except for the pen writing but that's ok). But oh my, the taste of the cake was so terrible. At first I thought maybe we had back luck, with the first cake, but when the second one arrived it was even worse. The oreo cookies decorating it were completely mushy and soft, and so was the cone, and the cake was dry and extremely sweet to the point that it was inedible. None of the children in the birthday party liked it, and I don't blame them. I wanted to like them, they were beautiful, I wanted to leave a good review, but the taste...never again :( read more

Purchased a 6 pack of cupcakes. It was hard to tell what flavor the buttercream was when the sweetness was just so overpowering. The cupcake itself was solid and dense. The cookies/wafers on the cupcake have gotten very soft, not great for the price to be honest. read more

Stopped in for the first, and last time. It was around 2 in the afternoon, and only one customer at the counter. No greeting was issued or an ' I'll be right with you ' The radio was blasting music rather loudly also. I heard another person working in the back, but no effort was made to call them out to help another customer. After waiting for about 5 minutes, I simply walked out and know that I will never come back nor recommend this place for a treat, There are too many other places in town. read more

Before I start this review, I want to mention that this is about the new Woodstock location as I am not able to speak on their other locations, but this is the only place to write a review. I ordered a custom cake 3 weeks in advance (nothing crazy that a home baker couldn't do) and I left a note asking them to call me if they have any questions about my order. I went in 7 days later to pick up another order I placed with them and I asked to the lady behind the counter make a note on the cake order. She informed me she couldn't do that and told me to email instead, which I did immediately. A few days go by and I get an automated email about my recent pickup from them. This was irritating as we're getting closer to the date I have to pick up the cake and I would just like a response about it. I emailed again asking if someone was going to get back to me. An hour after my second email I got a phone call that they can't do at all what I'm asking for and instead are making suggestions that are no where near close to what I wanted. I then said if you can't do what I'm asking for I would like a refund. At this point this is when I was told they don't offer refunds. How can you call me over a week after I placed my order (only because I emailed twice) to tell me you can't do what I ordered, won't compromise or give me my money back? What a joke of a bakery. The best part about this is they couldn't answer my question as to why they didn't contact me as soon as they got to the order that they couldn't fulfill my order? Instead I had to email twice and wait over a week to find out I have to now find another place to order a custom cake with only a week to go. This has been a terrible experience and I will never support this place again. I don't understand how they can charge $80+ for a custom cake and then turn around and decline the order while telling the customer they won't give them their money back. read more

We ordered the assorted donut box off of Uber eats as well as two Watermelon Lemonades. The Lemonade looked beautiful, one of the nicest presentations I have seen, but it was disgusting. It did not taste like Lemonade at all. It was very fizzy, reminded me more of Italian soda? I know it sounds obvious to say, because it is watermelon flavored, but the artificial taste was overwhelming. My fiance and I had one sip and threw it out, I would say maybe it was more of a little kids drink, but it was so fizzy that I am not sure they would want it. The donuts and cupcakes, once again beautiful. However, they were very stale, the flavour was subpar and the pastry tasted very basic. I actually prefer the taste of the cupcakes and the freshness from superstore, which in itself is a low end cupcake. I dont know if they were a couple days old, or just not stored properly throughout the day? But they were incredibly dry. For the price and the hype I was very disappointed, I would not bother trying Chick Boss Cake again. I feel like there was such a focus on looks that the taste felt extremely short. read more

Underwhelmed with the pricey wedding cake we received. Absolutely no decorations on it even though the bride was quite clear when she ordered it what she wanted and was told no problem. When she saw the cake with only icing she called the shop and was then told they don't decorate the cakes? That's what you get? My florist friend saved the day with some fresh flowers to make it wedding appropriate. I'm sorry but I honestly cannot recommend this business for an important event like a wedding. read more

This is not a good company to use. I can't speak to their products as I did not end up actually receiving anything but their customer service is awful. I needed to cancel an order well in advance of the date I needed the item so none of the items required for it would have been purchased. It was just a cake, there was nothing special about it. They refused to give me a refund, the male manager I spoke to was shockingly rude and I have to go through the fraud department of my credit card company. This whole thing has taken months to resolve. read more

The cake was very cute,,tasted ok,,,didn't think it was a 70.00 cake but my daughter ordered one last month for her daughters birthday so she was doing it for everyones,,we were supposed to have the cake delivered yesterday,,when it didn't arrive in the scheduled time .. my daughter called and they said it was pickup,,it was definitely supposed to be delivered ,,so we had to run out today to pick it up ,, as far as customer service goes whether they thought they were right or not ,,they should have delivered it either later yesterday or today,,we are to say the least not happy,,we have another birthday in july and 3 in august etc and almost every month thereafter,,in which case I guess we will shop for another bakery ,,hope it was worth it to give poor customer service,,my daughter was told maybe she could call the manager another day when shes around,,instead may I suggest that since my daughter expressed her unhappiness,,that they offer to have the manager call her instead ..we will not chase the manager around ,,we will shop elsewhere ..thank you read more

Expensive but nice cakes. However I would not return or recommend to others because of the terrible customer service. The owner is extremely rude and if they ever make a mistake on your order good luck trying to sort it out. read more
