Was my second time ever going there. The first was a good experience so why not return. This time I was there at 4pm and was 1 of only 3 people in the whole place. After sitting and waiting 30 minutes for just a cheese burger and fries, I went to the waitress who was standing there playing on her phone. Told her to cancel that order I'm leaving. She replied are you sure, it's just about ready? Told her no thanks, I'm not waiting 35 minutes for a cheese burger in an empty restaurant... I won't be back. There's a dozen other places closer to the house to get a burger that won't take so long. read more

Fist impressions not good. When you walk in the door the place smells amazing it's clean and well lit and has good games on the tv. Once you are seated however the wait staff can be a bit inattentive. Throughout the meal my wife and I saw our server a total of three times and could hear the kitchen staff yelling that food was up and needed to be brought out in her area. I had the lips wrap dipped in mango habanero sauce which was amazing and my wife had the lips pizza which was equally good. Only comment for the kitchen is bake your pizza longer a thin crust should be crispy. As for how warm the food was we will be back because I have a feeling it was slightly cooled due to the wait time in the window. $30 for two people is a bit much for Luke warm chicken. read more

My wife and I frequent the Macomb, IL location since this is where we live. We decided to give the newer Quincy location a try since we were in town that day. When we arrived they appeared busy, it was around 1:00 pm on a nice day. My wife and I requested an outdoor table. Once we were seated we reviewed the menu which is identical to the Macomb location which made it easy. We ordered our drinks and food. I ordered a larger potato soup while my wife ordered the chicken tortilla soup. For our meals we ordered a Chick's Cheeseburger and 3 Chicken Lips and a large order of fries to share. Here is where the problems began. After ordering we never saw our waitress until she decided to bring everything all at once. We got our soups and food at the same time. This was a problem because being outdoors we had a decent breeze coming from the River. Well by the time we finished our soups (which tasted great), our food was lukewarm. When we brought this up to the waitress, all we received was countless apologies. At no time did she offer to replace the main order. Now I want to point out that overall the food was good, which is why we gave a 3 star rating. I deducted 2 stars due to the poor service. Once again my wife and I frequent the Macomb, IL location due to the good food and normally good service we receive. My guess is that over time the Quincy location will iron out the new restaurant "jitters". read more

Living in Quincy, my family has a great variety to chose from when we go out to eat. Last Saturday night, April 25, 2015, my son and I chose to go to Chicks and as usual, they never fail to disappoint. Being a Saturday evening as well as QHS prom night, they were busy but we got seated right away. Kiersten, who was our waitress, was extremely friendly, courteous and engaging. She quickly got our drinks and kept them full. We placed our order right away and it didn't take long before we had our meal, piping hot. I normally get their homemade ranch for my chicken but I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried their homemade Bleu cheese and was NOT disappointed; absolutely wonderful and I detest Bleu cheese. Throughout the meal, Kiersten would come by and check on us to make sure everything was fine and to see if we needed anything, all the while keeping up with her other tables, playing hostesses (taking names and seating), ringing people out, etc. If you want a great place to eat with great service, I highly recommend Chicks On The River and if you are lucky, maybe you will get Kiersten as your waitress! *we have ate here before and usually have great service but Kiersten is hands down the best. read more

I went to the Chick's for the first time. The place was empty at 6 PM on a Wednesday, but the abundant staff seemed frenzied and ready for a "tour bus." I think it is a hangout for Millennials, but they weren't there either. The chicken breast and baked potato was quality. I like river front initiatives so I will have to compromise. They seemed ready for something but it was not great service. I think the staff was enjoying each other's company first and the customer experience second. this is not a place i would go to eat ever again. The food comes out cold. The people they have running it this last week September 9,2019 suck. The waitress are slow , never give refills , had to wait like 20 minutes for them to take an order. After this week i would not suggest anyone eat here. We visited on 01/7 in around 4 for a late lunch. We were the only guests in the restaurant and were immediately greeted at the door when we walked in. We were sat right away and had our drink orders taken. They have an amazing menu of martinis! I had the passion fruit martini, and our waitress gave us $2 off the drink. We then ordered an appetizer, the bruschetta. It came out within about 5 minutes, super hot and fresh! The cheese melted in your mouth and the tomatoes were diced perfectly & were juicy. I ordered the 4 piece lips in Caribbean sauce, and my boyfriend had the grilled cheese. Both were super hot and fresh when they came out. The lips had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, and the grilled cheese was to die for! The cheese melted & the bacon was crispy. The bread was toasted, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Truly an amazing meal! Our waitress was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We will definitely be making this our new go-to place for lunch in Quincy! read more

I ordered takeout of lips, waffle fries, coleslaw and spuds, and was surprised at how much food there was. They don't tell you how big these lips are, and I'll have to say that they're just simply big pieces of "tenders" around, except that they're not tenders. They're juicy, moist on in the inside, and thickly battered and crunchy on the inside. How do they do that?! Their sauces are superb as well, and believe me, I'm NOT a fan of blue cheese and would never touch it, but their blue cheese sauce is not pungent, and surprisingly very tasty. I ate it by mistake, and kept going, even after I found out what it was, and that's saying a lot. The coleslaw is interesting with its hint of mango, and I'll admit that it's an acquired taste, but not necessarily unpleasant at all. The spuds are ginormous and hits the spot, tasty enough for me to eat without seasoning except butter. This is part of a small chain of restaurants, but by no means puts out chain-type of mediocre food. This is a good chicken place, and I know I'll return again, this time to attack the burgers and pizzas. The staff, by the way, is friendly, jovial, helpful and fun. read more

We have dined at Chick's several times. Each visit tells a different story. While the establishment is brightly lit and clean, the food is either fabulous or awful. Wait staff is typically MIA. Pray you don't need a refill nor is your order lacking as you won't find a resolution unless you choose to help yourself. On our visit yesterday we ordered 2 of the $5 menu specials advertised on Facebook: lip mac & cheese and loaded potato skins. While the mac and cheese was a generous portion, it was extremely dry. The Facebook photo shown displays 8 potato skins. We received 2. Yes. You read that right...2. They were delicious but 2?! We continue to dine at Chick's in hopes of receiving both a stellar dining and service experience. There is phenomenal potential here but the employees must work together. read more

If you go try the lips. Our server couldn't tell us why huge chicken strips are called lips but it's their signature menu item so I suggest trying at least one. It's kinda a hole in the wall, but MAN!!! If you want amazing fried chicken tenders- they call them chicken lips ‍ - you've gotta go here. Great beer selection too. Our daughter goes to Quincy University and while visiting her, she wanted us to all go out to eat here. We arrived about 4 pm on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon in October to eat. I immediately loved the atmosphere and the actual building. It was cozy and comfortable. We sat inside near a window where we could look out and see the Mississippi River. Our server was prompt and courteous as well as conscientious about keeping our drinks filled. The food was good and we had a great time! I can tell this is a college hang out with the bar and I can see where it would be a cool place to go to meet up with friends and drink - if you drink. I don't drink and the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because several of the other customers were obviously young college kids who were drinking (remember I said it was a Saturday afternoon) and they were using foul language that I didn't like hearing. I'm not judging (hopefully doesn't sound like I am). To each their own. But I didn't necessarily enjoy hearing that. It wasn't directed at me so I ignored it and enjoyed my meal. (It really was good!) I'm only mentioning it in case someone reading my review doesn't like that sort of thing. This way people can make up their own minds and make informed decisions. I was quite surprised by how good this was. The chicken is loosely defined as strips, which didn't impress me much. But my, oh my, these ain't your children's chicken strips! I'm a hot wimp but loved their special sauce. It had warmth, but it also had flavor and I found it quite good. Let me just say one more thing, Pizzadilla. read more

We enjoy their delicious chicken in ever option.. - Lip Spud is a great deal $6, and fills my husband up - out of all the pizza places in town, my FAVORITE option is at Chicks, a non pizza restaurant, the buffalo bbq chicken pizza!! - waffle fries with chicken, tasty - chicken wrap I've had friends order a burger before and it's a bummer fries aren't included!! Our family asked to be seated here and they told us that it would be a 35 minute wait to be seated while there were open tables. When we inquired about the open tables and asked if we could just sit down and order a beer we were told the kitchen was backed up and we couldn't be seated until the kitchen was no long backed up. This place is hands down the best place in Quincy. If you are looking for incredible food in a casual atmosphere that's great for friends or family, this is your place. The fact that this place is only 3.5 is criminal/insane. I don't review places often, but when I saw that Chicks was at 3.5 stars, I felt personally responsible to try and boost the score as I go here at least once a week. The Hummus is great but the chips for the hummus is what makes the dish. I go back and forth between the BBQ Lip Pizza and the Lip Fries. Do yourself a favor and go here. read more

We (party of 5) went to Chicks for appetizers and dinner on Monday July 14th, we elected to sit outside at one of the picnic style tables and we're greeted promptly...we ordered appetizers while studying the menus and were very satisfied with the flavor & portion, we then had dinner salads and pizza. ..All good, HOWEVER, our server had to be asked for refills on beverages twice before she got the message and when we asked for extra napkins and got 2 for a party of 5...well now you get our issue! Fresh squeezed juice for your drinks... it's hard to find that anymore, DELICIOUS!! Their menu style is very different from most restaurants in quincy, but it's very worth it to try. If you're not a fan of fried, you won't find much on their menu for you. Which I don't like fried foods but everything I have tried that isn't fried is super delicious! I think it's called a chicquito roll? I'm not sure but that is about right. It is delicious roasted chicken with cheese rolled up in a tortilla, sprinkled with hot sauce and sour cream in the middle. It isn't spicy, the hot sauce just adds some extra flavor. Their buffalo chicken dip is one of my favorites as well. You should definitely try it out read more

Ate here 11/16/17 and had a wonderful meal, the first time we had been here. I had the Santa Fe Fajita wrap and it was very good. My wife had the Roasted Chicken wrap which she liked. Others at our table had the chicken lips which were large and delicious. They tried various sauces on the lips and liked them all. Appetizers were awesome, especially the Hot Poppers. Just spicey enough to be good without grabbing a drink after each bite. The staff is friendly, the place and restrooms are clean and prices are reasonable. Too bad we don't live in Quincy or we would eat there often. read more

This place is awful. Have been several times & have not found one thing I like. Today was the last time. I had the Monterey Chicken sandwich. Chicken is supposed to be their specialty, right? Can't go wrong? First I had to send it back because they forgot half the ingredients listed on the menu. Then I ate two bites & was done. The chicken was dry & chewy and the bacon was raw & rubbery. Yuck! When the waitress came to remove my plate, and all but two bites were still on the plate, I thought she would have inquired as to whether everything was okay. But she didn't. Going from Chicks on the Square to Chicks on the River I was unpleasantly surprised at how different they were. To start of we went in with a group of 7 adults 3 kids (big group yes). There was ALREADY a table there, just needed wiped off. We waited 15 minutes to be seated, in which time one of the waitresses dropped half a plate of food on the floor and still took it out to the customer. 5 minutes later when it was STILL on the floor and all the waitresses kept passing it I told one of them it was there. She replied "oh" and went and stood by the kitchen texting on her phone. When we FINALLY got to our table, the waitress we got was ok. When we got our food it was cold, the fries were hard enough they scraped my sisters mouth raw, it was bland and my brother was ledt wondering about his fries that weren't on his plate. Didn't see the waitress once until she swooped by and dropped off the checks. I took the checks up and a gentleman cashed us out, I told him what a horrible meal we had and he said "Sorry, we've been pretty busy today and were just a little off." Mind you, it hadnt been busy at all the whole time we were there. I'll stick to the Macomb Chicks, I've never been disappointed there. read more

Finally got to try out Chicks. There were festivities all around with the lighting of the bridge. I could not believe the service or the food!!! We were seated as soon as we entered. Service was some of the best we have ever had anywhere (and we have been to a LOT of places). The waitress kept checking on us making sure everything was great. She was friendly and very cheerful. The food was fast and it was FANTASTIC!!!! The best Bacon and Blue Burger I have ever had. Wife had the Lips and she was very pleased. I even got to sample her order and I too was impressed.
