The brisket was very good, excellent dry rub with smoky flavor and that smoke ring people like. Tender and moist even though it was a lean cut. The Smoky smells a meat walking across the parking lot where enough to draw us in. You decided to settle on a barbecue feast that fed 2 to 4 people for only $41. Great value for our family of 5. We got to sample the ribs, pulled pork, and BBQ chicken with sides of beans, coleslaw, corn, cornbread, and French fries. Everything was great. The sauce assortment was spot on and offered enough variety for all the different food items. My family especially loved the cornbread and the ribs but everything was very good. I had mixed reviews for this place from people but I needed to try it for myself. They have parking outside and lots of indoor and outdoor seating! It is right next to the micro hotel which is a little sketch. We went during the week around the time it was opening. Was not crowded like it usually is when we drive by. Our waiter was so nice. The whole staff was super nice. There is so much to look at in here, cool signs and cool old school stuff. They have a full bar and have weekly specials. I ordered the Angry Beaver which was a weekly special of $5. It was tasty. Just I can't drink a lot of that kind of stuff. The waiter kept bringing sodas out for my boyfriend. Also I over heard him remember someone else's order that seemed to be a regular. He was so friendly. I ordered the brisket platter, it said it was piled high on Texas toast. I'm not crazy about Texas toast and I didn't think it was piled high. It was not the best brisket but it was good. But the sauces they have here are so bomb. The gold sauce is my absolutely favorite. The spicy and sweet were too good as well! I loved the baked beans and the potato wedges. My boyfriend ordered the brisket Mac burger. He really loved it. It looked tasty! My daughter and I were in the area and love bbq so it was a no brainer that we'd stop by. The vibe is rustic and we liked it. They offer daily specials and had a diverse menu with lots to choose from. We went with sharing a platter and getting a kids meal for the toddler my daughter was caring for. On our platter we chose bbq chicken, brisket, corn, bbq beans and green beans. It also came with a corn muffin. The kids meal was pulled pork and mac n cheese. The food was good, but not quite to my taste preferences. I prefer more seasoning on dishes. The bbq beans had a tomato kinda taste where I would prefer more of a bbq taste... I did enjoy the brisket and WOW the corn muffin! My daughter thought it was good. We did get drinks as well and I can vouch that their sweet tea is homemade and delicious! The kids meal was a nice size and came with a drink. I liked that they had sauces on the table - my fave was the spicy. I also liked the paper towels on the tables because these dishes were messy! They have a salad bar that maybe has a daily entree offering... I was a bit confused about it, but saw other people using it and would like to try it next time I'm there. They offer typical BBQ fare, the pulled pork is a family favorite as well as the cornbread muffins and our tails (curly fries with cheese and meat). My husband loves the Smokehouse Burger, which includes pulled pork on top. There is a good variety of beer and cocktails to choose from. The space has old farm / farmhouse decor, which makes sense, but many of the tables and chairs are uncomfortable and beaten up. Whether you get hot food is always questionable and we find the service to be hit and miss. We ordered the Friday night special trio meat platter, we got brisket, pulled pork and bbq chicken, green beans, and potato wedges. It took close to 25 mins after we ordered to get our food. The food was cold and had a lack luster taste. It all looked appealing to the eye. But after tasting it we decided it was unnecessary to pay that much. Our total ticket was $69. Overall this was just an okay meal and nothing that would make me want to return or recommend it to others. Visiting Quincy from out of town, we sought out places with outdoor dining. Riverside definitely gets that right, but was average at best for food and service. Our waiter was friendly enough and made some great sounding meal recommendations, but it was very difficult to get refills or additional drinks. When our food arrived, a different server brought it to us and when we asked for water refills & another round of drinks she said that she would send someone out with a pitcher & let the waiter know. That didn't happen & our waiter finally checked in about half way through the meal to see how the food was. We skipped the second round of drinks and just shot for a water refill. The BBQ sauce & smoked flavor was good, but nothing unique. The ribs were tough and did not 'fall off the bone.' The comments were made that you had better be prepared to rip the meat off with your teeth. The brisket was good, but a little overdone. So one undercooked and one overcooked on the combo platter. The cornbread was done properly and reminded me of the Jiffy mix. The Pork Tenderloin sandwich was huge! Sadly, they left it in the fryer much too long. My guest was much too nice and opted not to send it back, but rather try to eat the center portion. She was really looking forward to it as the waiter highly recommended it and the menu said that it was award winning... For dessert we tried the blackberry cobbler. It is the kind you make on a cookie sheet and use two pieces of store bought cake mix for the base and the top. They 'spice it up' by preparing it in a cast iron skillet & serve it a la mode. After the average meal, I said that the dessert could bump them up a star. It didn't. We did have a free Onion Straws appetizer, which you can get by visiting their website. Luckily, we reviewed the ticket rather than just paying it as we were charged for the complimentary item... Convenient location, with a nice outdoor dining area & so-so food - 2.5 stars, but they don't allow for that. So, add in the cobbler (SKIP IT!) and they drop down to 2 stars. read more

I needed to reserve a private room for a large group of coworkers and the staff at Riverside were very helpful and friendly, to coordinate the room and the large group of employees. Food service was excellent and food was served quickly and hot. The waitress was very helpful and served all our needs. This place is a dump. The waitress alternated disappearing extended periods of time to avoiding our table. I got the brisket plate it was cold greasy and gave me diarrhea. Our party of seven ordered brisket salad, hamburger, a couple of smoked pork sandwiches, a smoked pork platter, quarter rack of ribs and the ribeye special. The only thing that wasn't that great was the ribeye which was thin and overcooked. The BBQ was good. They offer a selection of sweet, spicy and bold BBQ sauces and roasted peanuts on the table. Riverside Smoke House truly surprised me. It earned it's 5 star review for quantity, value and quality. For $18 I had a platter with 3 meats, 2 chosen sides plus corn on the cob, toast and a corn bread muffin. The brisket was chunked, more similar to burnt ends than sliced brisket that I was prepared for, it was smoked well and slightly brushed with sauce. The sausage was excellent - grilled, smoky and spicy but not so much that it did not stay with me all day as some sausages do. Ribs were damn near perfect. The meat adhered to the bone, yet easily came clean when eating. Smoked, glazed and grilled. They could teach about 50% of the KC BBQ restaurants how to do ribs right. The beans were full of meat and sausage but could have used a bit more molasses - above average. Same for the slaw, corn and cornbread - no issues, but not best in class. Great place for BBQ in Quincy. We had the pigtails which were delicious and fun. We topped them with brisket. Their sauces are simple yet very tasty. Even the mustard/vinegar blend which I rarely care for was great. We shared the trio platter for dinner. Wow. This is a lot of food. Pork, three ribs and 1/4 chicken. Extra was corn muffin, corn on the cob with baked beans and cole slaw. The thing with any BBQ place is can the BBQ stand on its own without sauce. In this case, the pulled pork was super delicious, I found myself not even needing the sauce. Ribs were good, just not fall off the bone like I might expect.
