I called at 8:20pm on a Saturday, to the business line listed everywhere for Chico's. Did I expect them to be open? No. I was expecting, like one does with a business line, a recorded message offering information or asking for the caller to leave their name and number so someone can call back at their convenience. Um. No. Instead a VERY angry man answered "Hello!" "Hi, I'm trying to reach Chico's driving?" "Yeah - it's 8:20 on a Saturday and I'm with my *expletive* family! What do you need....." I interrupted him here to say "So sorry. I thought this was a business line..." "It is a business line! What could you need..." And I hung up. Good Afternoon! I am the parent of a student from Chicos driving school in Goffstown/ Manchester nh. My daughter took his course during the winter. It is to my understanding that despite his unsavory business practices and reputation both online and from former students ( with multiple complaints including mine of legitimate business practice concern and student verbal harassment) That he is well liked by the cohort of the local and state dmv.(which he jokes about with his students) This man not only is verbally inappropriate with his students but also blatantly lies to acquire his clientele as well as over charging for services rendered ( specifically asking for payment in cash as to not be traced). When asked for itemized billing with specific dates and reasons thereof he cannot correctly or in a timely manner produce one. On his website he states both (If a student misses a driving time without a 24 hour notification, then the student will be required to pay a missed driving lesson fee of $75.00 You won't be charged if you call your instructor.) and (If school is canceled, then driver education class and driving lessons are cancelled for the day unless you hear from the instructor.) Both are false advertisements. This man also promised in person to pick up students from school or home within reason for driving lessons. We live 0.6 mi from his institution. Also a false pretense! My daughter on multiple occasions had to uber to meet him at the Goffstown Highschool 3.6 miles away so she could get her on road driving time (also to note some of these were during cancelled school days) . In regards to the bold and underlined above again on multiple occasions this was a lie. He will definitely charge you ( and in cash only!)! However he will not abide by his own stated rules. He "has office hours and does not check his phone or get back to you in a timely manner". He also sets driving times after the 24 hour window of cancellation via text to the student directly. leaving no time to cancel within the window given. We called Chico to cancel 2 appointments with no answer. We texted with no response. one of which was a family emergency, one of which was a school cancellation. You can get ahold of him by email typically a day late and a dollar added to his pocket. This man causes students to have panic attacks, he teaches specifically to only what he knows will pass at manchester/concord dmv (He never taught 3 point turn amongst other various basics and barely did parallels, I had to administer these separately with my daughter), he talks about how he is untouchable due to the lack of local business competition despite many attempts of former students... With his students, he speaks ill of current and former students/ parents as a teaching tool, he barrades the student while they are driving privately and after in class. He doesn't adhere to his own rubric of education/ business. He is both abrasive and highly diminutive in mannerisms with his students/customers. To note my daughter passed his class and has her license. He will teach them to a minimally passable standard. However his business practices and mannerisms need to be investigated or at the very least updated on his businesses website to ring true. Also to note I met with this man prior to sending my daughter to his institution because of the complaints. He comes off very nice in person upfront, a little rough around the edges but courteous... even likeable. I felt we understood each other upfront and he denied past instances of warning as miscommunications and unwarranted concern as he is still in business and well liked in the community. Once he has your money and his student is enrolled... he is a different Chico. You will be highly disappointed as he over promises, under delivers and will be diminutive words your child. do yourself a favor and look elsewhere if feasible. read more

Cannot say enough great things about Chico and his teachings. He was able to connect with child, make him feel comfortable and he's accelerated in his class. With teachings being done via zoom these days, it's much tougher on many not having that in person teaching but he made it work. Highly recommend ! read more

As a student many years ago who attended this program, in my experience, Chico was an unreasonably bad teacher. I remember Chico being cutting and sarcastic in my opinion, which did not lead to a positive impression in my experience as a student. I recommend going to another drivers education school because even 10+ years later, Chico rubs me the wrong way because it was that negative of an impression to me. read more

BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS DRIVING SCHOOL FOR YOUR TEEN. This school is absolutely the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced. Here is why: 1 - Three months before my daughter started, I sent an email to Chico requesting that she have her driving session immediately following the classroom session because she had SAT prep class the same day. NO RESPONSE. I called and emailed a few more times until finally Chico emailed me that he couldn't do that but it "won't be problem - we will make it work if she's a little late" so I let it go. My daughter had to come 15 minutes late to every driving lesson. This meant the other 2 students had to sit in a car and wait for her to arrive - so unfair to them. When my daughter got to the lesson, she was berated for being late. She told the driving instructor, Paco that her mom had arranged this w/Chico in advance. His response was "I don't care." I sent the email from Chico in with my daughter the following lesson and he, yet again, humiliated her in front of the other students. She was so upset and embarrassed. 2 - At the end of the session, after having passed both the written and driving tests at Chico's, all the student are supposed to receive their "green form" which they bring to the DMV as proof they took and passed the driving school requirement. Kids in my daughter's class came from as far as the seacoast and Waterville Valley. Parents had been driving their kids over 2 hours each way for a month to this class. At the end of the class, Chico informed the students they would NOT be receiving their "green form" and that he'd stick it in the mail to them. Parents & students alike were FURIOUS and rightly so...imagine the disappointment after spending a month of their summer going back and forth three days a week in anticipation of having their drivers license for back to school. How would your teen feel? Chico's attitude the entire time was - I have your money - you're at my mercy. He showed NO compassion. He just said "I'll get it to you - the LAW says I have 2 days to mail it." Well what about CUSTOMER SERVICE Chico? So many parents and students complained that Chico called the students and told them to get to the school at 8AM Sunday of Labor Day weekend to pick up the forms. (Reminder - the Waterville Valley and Seacoast parents too...) - but because this business is so shady, all the parents took the safe route and made sure they got to the school at 8am, Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Again I ask you - how would YOU feel if YOU had to do this? And pay for it. 3 - The driving instructor uses humiliation and screaming to teach your child how to drive (with 2 other students in the car). That is in addition to your teen having to listen to his personal problems and sitting for HOURS in a filthy, disgusting automobile. He is inappropriate in his attitude and his language and he is completely out of line. But they have your money and your teen needs to take a class by LAW so what do you do? Start all over? Take the financial loss? Read some of these reviews... 4 - I encourage you to read the K.P. and Rose D. reviews - they are SPOT ON and I so wish I had read these BEFORE I sent in my money to this half-baked, disorganized, disrespectful driving school. This Chico guy is very unprofessional, rude , and a scammer , I have tried calling numerous times and we'll before the 14 days before the start date of the first class , I needed to cancel and get my refund but they never pick up the phone , then I had went on the 1st day of class with my daughter to tell him in person since he never picks up his phone , tells me to go ahead and mail in a letter so I can get a refund , I do that , a month passes still nothing my daughter finally heard from him he called was nice and asked "is this the student or parent " once my daughter tells him it's her , he changed his tone and was very rude and told her no refund , this Chico guy is a scammer doesn't know how to run his business, if he would answer his calls he would of known we were trying to cancel before the 14 days grace period , I even went in person to speak with him and he was very rude and condescending and likes to talk down on others , people Just stay away from this Chico guy!!!!! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KID HERE. As a previous student, it will not be a good experience for your kid. More than once Chico made me cry whilst in the drivers seat of the car, which is very dangerous cause it clouds your vision. My mistakes were not met with guidance but instead insulting words about me and my family. He would tell me how awful it was that I didn't know things when it was his job to teach me how to drive, and would yell at me for not doing things he never told me to do. I parked with him maybe twice (a maximum of like 5 minutes), and I went on the same routes almost every class. The drivers Ed car is falling apart and it's messy in the back. During remote classes due to Covid he would single me out in front of all the other kids and pick on me, he told the rest of the kids that it was unlikely I would pass his class or the exam. Any time I would do something right he would tell me it was luck. He absolutely tore me down and it took me over 2 months after his class to finally take the DMV test cause he made me hate driving. He called my family liars, and made fun of my brothers ADHD and called him stupid. When I told him I got a job in conversation he told me he felt bad for my employers. Multiple times he would tell us we were raised wrong. I was nothing but polite and kind to him. He is a bitter old man who enjoys picking on children. Even if everywhere else is booked, I promise you it will benefit you to just wait until you can learn anywhere else. read more

We are still waiting for a refund from Chico's Driving Center. He has a refund policy clearly stated on his website, but so far has refused to respond to both email and written communication from us, except for 1 letter, that was just a photocopy of our original application. BEWARE !!! We had a very bad experience with this Chico's Driving school. We had put down the deposit in April this year for my son driving classes . We had called him so many times to sign up for his driving class in November 2018. Every time we called him he always said that either he was not in the office or out of the country with his wife. Every time me or my husband called and he kept asking us to call him back around 7:00PM so I called him at 7:00PM and he said he was having dinner with his family and he asked us to call him back the next morning at 8:00AM. Next day I called him exactly at 8:00 AM this time he told me that" Oh , I'm driving and don't have any paperwork with me why don't you call me around 4:00PM today " again I called him at 4:00PM and this time he said give me your son's name and I'll call you tomorrow, so I gave him my son's name and he never called us back, I texted him next couple days and still didn't get response. I tried to be patient because one of my son's friend went there and mentioned about this place. This Chico guy was so rude and bad. I would not recommended this place to any teen. read more

I finished my driving improvement class I cant be any more happier for how the instructor conducted himself as a regular person. From a students perspective, i had the greatest experience at Chico's driving school. They made their students their number one priority. At one point on of the instructors had been injured and in the hospital for a few days, however they made it possible and tried with everything in their power, to get every students driving/observation hours before the course ended. I really admired the effort they put forth so that we could all end on time. Another thing that I admire about this school, is how the teachers try to make it a great experiemce. They build such incredible connections with every single student. I definitely hope to keep in touch with them. They are so helpful and only want you to succeed. They teach so well, and word all of their lessons so that it is easily understood. They believe that you can do anything you want to, and will assist you in reaching your goals. I am not the best at taking quizzes and tests and they knew that so they worked with me a d helped to calm down my test anxiety to the point where i actually had none while taking the course final. I passes the final which brought both a smile to my face, and also theirs. The day after the last class, i went to the DMV more nervous than i have ever been, but calmed myself down by remembering what they would say to me. I walked into the testing room and the minute i started to answer the questions it was like a breath of fresh air. I felt so well prepared for the questions and was getting them all correct and passed on the first try. Immediately following the written test, i took the driving test, and also felt very well trained and prepared, and once again passed on the first try. Again, chicos was an amazing experience, and they care so much for their students. I had a very bad experience with Chico's Driving Center. As a parent and consumer I felt obligated to share it. If you decide to go with this driving school I urge you to put everything on print before you pay. Because once you pay they would not be accommodating you in any way. This is my story. I singed up my son for the 5 week driving class program. The class time was 6-8pm Monday-Wednesday for 5 weeks. I was expecting that we would be contacted at a later time to schedule the driving times. Tuesday, was the first day of the program and it happened to be my son's first day of school year as well. The owner contacted my son by text Monday the day before school starts and asked him what time school ends. My son told him that he does not have the schedule but the first day it should be 3pm. He was told he would be picked up from school at 3pm. As promised my son was picked up at 3pm, for one hour driving lesson. Then he was left at their driving school's classroom to do his "homework", till 6pm.( That is not an appropriate environment for homework). Finally he attended his 6-8pm class as scheduled. It seems that "family time" is important when it comes to Chico.( He made that very clear on one of his email. But I guess that is not the case when it comes to his students time). The very next day I contacted Chico wanting to go over my son's driving lessons schedule. We still had not had any discussion on the subject nor did we agree to any days or times. Keeping the first week's driving schedule, would cause a conflict with my son's school activities. We would need to make an adjustment on one day a week for 3 out of the 5 week program. I contacted Chico by phone trying to resolve the scheduling issue. This is the schedule Chico assigned for us, without any discussion or our consensus. On the phone he showed no interest in resolving anything and unwillingness in accommodating us, on the 3 driving hours. I offer a few suggestions but he rejected them all without any offering his own alternative. It was clear, he did not attempt to find a solution because he did not feel he had to. His whole attitude was I have your cash and this is your problem to solve. Personally I prefer to lose the money than sacrifice my son's education for his driving lessons. I attended a drivers improvement class here. He was kind enough to get me into to a class so I would have my certificate in time for my court date. Instructor was great, extremely knowledgeable he had the class room involved in discussion while reviewing the videos that were being played. I went to this driving school two years ago when I was sixteen. I hated the experience so much I downloaded yelp only so I could give a negative review of this place. My review was deleted by yelp because I was under eighteen. Now my younger sister is learning to drive (thankfully at the local high school, not at this place) and it made me remember this horrible experience. The entire business is run by two people: Chico and Paco. Chico alone taught my class, and I went driving with either Chico or Paco depending on the day. At the time, I had very little driving experience, but didn't think it would matter. It's a driving class, right? Wrong. They berated and yelled at me in the car and in the class. Chico accused me of being a druggie numerous times in the class in front of people who were going to my high school. He ramped it up during the drugs/alcohol unit in the class. I honestly didn't know how to respond to an authority figure attacking my character in the class, and it deeply upset me. It got worse though. They began to tell the class that I kept "a list" of people who went to my school. This was an outright lie. They were telling people who went to my high school, when school shootings dominated the news waves, that I kept a list of classmates. They made continued reference to this list throughout the entire time I went there. It was a horrifying experience. Finally, I had completed the entire class time and all but one hour of driving, when they took me aside and told me they weren't going to give me another hour for a whole month. They accused me of lying to them about practicing driving out of class (I wasn't lying, I was practicing outside of class) and said I "acted mentally disabled." I don't know where an eighty year old man gets off saying such disturbing things to sixteen year old kids, but it is disgusting and inexcusable. I wouldn't recommend this school to my worst enemy, it is pure torture. read more
