I did't have my receipt and thought I only owed $350 on my daughter's dress I actually owed $300 and instead of them being honest and telling me that, they took the $350 asking for $50 in cash so he could put $300 on my card, after I got home and looked at my receipt that was on the refrigerator my bill said I was already charged $75 for alterations. I call in two days before going , to make sure they have a specific dress in stock , he proceeds to tell me they don't have my size in the color I want but they have my size in the same dress but a different color so I can try it on and they can order it if it's fits . I must've asked three times if they had the same exact dress not something similar for fit . He says yes miss we have several of that one in your size just not the color . Okay cool he even asked me where I was coming from . It's about an hour drive! I arrive at the store they have the dress in about 10 sizes too big! If I could give less stars I would. I came in April to find a dress for my mother to wear at my wedding. We ordered a dress and specifically said we wanted a new dress not the sample off the floor. Fast forward to August 18, the day they said the dress would be ready. No one called us so my mom called to ask if her dress was ready. They claimed they didn't have it and didn't understand what she was saying. I called and then they said that the dress was there. We went in today and the owner claimed he couldn't understand my mother's accent. This coming from someone who has an accent 100x stronger ( I had trouble understanding him). The dress they gave us was clearly the sample dress as the tag was exactly the same worn out one. The alterations looked rushed and shitty. I wish I had read these reviews and done my research! I bought my prom dress from here and they had to order it in my size and whenever I went to see if the dress had arrived, the owner a rude man would tell me to go back the next day and when it wasn't there that day either I just went back a week later and finally it arrived and when I got home with my dress already, their was a hole on the inside and 2 red stains on the front and when I called to tell them about it so I can return it and get my money back they said store credit only no cash back I don't understand why I can't just return something when it is clearly not new and was not ordered, so I do not recommend this store at all to anyone !!! This place has a large variety of clothes to choose from. The accessories are unique. I like the look of their bright statement hats and colorful floor length gowns. The big purses are also nice and the clothes here have vibrant prints. I believe this a great place to shop if you need something at the last minute. My size is always available. SCAM ALERT The owner (always the "cashier") does not tell you if your purchase is final. The store does not have any SIGN that indicates that your garment is on SPECIAL, DISCOUNT or FINAL SALE. at the time of paying the owner will write it on the receipt with an illegible handwriting and then you are STUCK WITH YOUR PURCHASE. Currently I will take him to court. and filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Another thing I have found interesting is that I am having a hard time finding the corporation or store name registered with the NYC Consumers Affairs. Sharon found a bunch of options for me to try on and I fell in love with one. Sharon is great! David, the owner was able to order my size and have it ready for pick up in 3 days. My mom and my sister went there to buy her prom dress. The staff was so helpful and sweet to her, they let her try on the dress and some heels as well. A specific lady that spoke Spanish helped her with her dress, asked if she needed it fixed a bit and help find heels even though they didn't have her size, they gave her advice of what heels to buy at a different store as well. The owner was easy to work with however, he was a bit rude/demanding to his staff which my mother and sister weren't too fond of but he was not disrespectful towards them. The store can be a bit pricey but my sister walked away with an amazing dress that she fell in love with the second she layer her eyes on it. read more

This place is ridiculous. Mind you I've been buying dresses from them for years only because they have a few to choose from.. needless to say this was my first experience attempting alterations from them. 1 bought 2 gowns both VERY EXPENSIVE.. my mother and my sister both bought VERY EXPENSIVE dresses as well.. Alterations were included with the price that he "discounted". Anyhow, David (owner) tells us to come in on a Monday to start alterations. (This was in the beginning of October) We went in and he tells us we should have called first. One of his pawns (salesgirls) pin us and they tell us to come back in 2 weeks. We got back and we all needed more work done.. they tell us to come back in a week..(Wednesday - TODAY -- - event is on SUNDAY) Again we walk in and he goes "HUnny your dresses arent here why didnt you call?" Excuse me? Why would I call if You told me to come today. Apparently his seamstress was sick and couldnt work on any dress.. finally he agreed he should have called to inform us of the mishap.. and then continued to tell us to come in tomorrow or the next day.. SOrry guy.. We dont live around the block we work and we have other appointments to make for the next couple of days for the event -- MY SISTERS WEDDING! Finally he says come in a few hours .. well have seamstress fix now. LIES LIES LIES -- we come back.. my dress wasnt taken in on top at all.. and instead of letting the lining out they took it in.. his pawn was so rude and goes "Hunny do I look like i'm 15 yrs old and would lie about something like this" This fired me up even more.. until I proved my point.. My mothers dress wasnt fixed in any place that was marked .. none of the dresses were steamed and my sisters dress the lining had all ripples.. We were forced just to take the dresses home because we can't get back there before the wedding (not that theyll do a good job anyway) So I told the owner I wanted money back in order for me to take to a real seamstress to fix their screw ups as well as money to alter the other dress I had purchased from them but didnt need altered until next month.. He refused and told me I wasnt charged for it .. its on the RECEIPT.. then the cheapo doesn't even give us separate garment bags. DO NOT TRUST THIS OVERPRICED PLACE -- and if you do purchase.. I pass this store 5 days a week on my way to and from work. Always admiring the clothing on display in the windows. I decided to go in tonight and inquire about the store. As I walked in to look around I was not greeted, but yet looked up and down like I did not belong there. I walked up to an older man and younger women talking amongst themselves to ask about the clothing. They were both extremely rude and snooty, pointing me to the back to a woman on the floor who was already helping someone else. I told them both I lived in the area and wanted to know about the store. After finding out I lived in the area and what building, their demeanor completely changed. My daughter bought her dress from this store back in April for her prom which is tomorrow night. From beginning to end the store showed extreme professionalism from the owner David to Sharon who is one of the sales ladies. She paid such great attention to my daughter's requests as well as the last minute alterations that we needed only 2 days ago. Chic's Place has beautiful dresses but a terrible owner. I went with my grandmother to pick up her dress for my wedding. It was purchased on a Tuesday and was available for pick up on Friday. We picked up the dress on Saturday and it was filthy. My grandmother had it hemmed and it looked like someone wiped the floor with it. My grandmother pointed out the dirt and also said it didn't look like it was hemmed. The women suggested that she try it on to see if the hem was completed. The owner, with his nosey self, waltzed over and demanded she put on the dress. I was so angry, I couldn't compose myself and my bridezilla cameout. (recall the episode of the Staten Island Bridezilla Karen) that was me, but with good reason. How dare someone talk to an elder that way! What happened to the customer is always right? To put it bluntly this place sucks. I walked in with 2 other girls to look for a prom dresses and was greeted by not only a rude and very aggressive owner, but also a lady whom I assume to be his daughter, following my friends and I around the store. The owner then told us we could only pick 2 dresses and would have to come back with a parent to try on more (mind you we all have jobs of our own and would be purchasing these dresses ourselves) I let this comment slide because I know they must get a lot of students trying on dresses. When we were looking at the dresses, the owner (a man in his late 50s to mid 60s) literally picked out the dresses for us to try on in a very creepy way. Don't get me started on actually trying on the dresses, not only was his daughter super rude and on top of us, but she probably would have gone into the fitting room with us if she could. When we went to try on one dress she looked at him with the biggest look of disgust and asked why we were trying that one on (probably because of the price which might I add was not even close to being worth anything close to the price on the tag). They asked what size shoe we were we told them (they didn't bring any shoes) then tried to get mad and say they did bring us shoes meanwhile there were no shoes to be found. This place is a joke, its messy, from what I have seen it seems like the workers (aside from the daughter) is terrified of the owner, and the quality of the dresses were not at all worth the prices they were trying to sucker us into buying. You're better off going to Estelles or camille la vie. Even Macys dresses are better than these. read more

I wish I could give zero stars for this place. I bought a few things the other day and the shoes which they practically pushed on me were a bit too big. I didn't really pay attention to the 'final sale' that the owner was so quick to write down on a Badgley Mishka pair of shoes. That he was quick to give me a 'good price' on (retail: $280, final price $150). Too bad I saw the same thing for $100 at sake off 5th two days ago. I came back today to get a store credit or even get something else. ANYTHING. I can't wear them they don't fit. No soul or understanding or caring for his customer. Then the owner came over and told me the dress was $895!!! (supposedly reduced from $1200) and that the one in the window was the last one. I asked to try it on, but he would not allow me to do so until I agreed to purchase it. REALLY?? Agree to purchase a $900 dress BEFORE trying it on? I thought he was joking, but he was very serious. I had a horrible experience here. I was looking for a dress that needed to be ordered and needed to know the price before placing the order. The owner was apparently the only one who could do this for me. He was eating his lunch at the front desk and asked if I wanted to order or find out the price. Don't waste your time shopping here! Worst customer service experience ever. Lazy, rude, sales people standing around unwilling to assist customers with finding appropriate sized dresses for the occasion they are shopping for. The dressing rooms have no mirrors inside so you are forced to walk out of your room to look at the dress in community mirrors. In addition you are given 1 item at a time to try on. The woman monitoring the fitting room had no knowledge that different vendors are not cut the same so someone may wear a size 4 from one vendor and a 6 in another. She argued that was incorrect and when I asked for a different size in a dress she said they didn't have any and when I asked her to find another similar dress she refused. I will NEVER return to this store or recommend this place to anyone. They also direct everyone to their sale items which appear damaged. They deserve no stars but that isn't an option. read more

I went to this store looking for a red dress. I found one and thought wow. I enjoyed the store except for the nasty owner. The second time I came in I had called several times and needed to return my purse it ripped my pants cause the defect on the bottom. I was told leave my purse. I bought two more purses. a total of $2000 in my two visits. I was told he would get me my purse. Five months later I have no purse a nasty owner.
