This was a very horrible experience going to this store to purchase a dress for my mom to wear to my wedding. The owner is the most awful person to deal with and very condescending. It took over 4 months from the time the dress was bought to the time it was altered which was still unfinished. He is an outright liar. You cannot have incompetent people on the floor offering alterations when they are not the ones doing alterations. Then the seamstress is blaming the sales girl for not being clear vice versa. The alterations looked like they were done by a 2 year old. Horrible, horrible. Overall the owner made the experience daunting because he spoke out his *@#. I had a very good shopping experience at Chic's Place. I had to buy a dress for my daughters wedding. I went on a busy Saturday afternoon and was greeted with a big hello from the owner. I had spoken to him the day before and told him was I was looking for, he had a wonderful sales consultant help me and I found the perfect dress. I tried on about a dozen dresses and was treated with kindness and respect. The dress was also in my price range and I was not forced to look at dresses I could not afford. I wud give 0 stars to this place. The store owner is a very greedy man and also a cheater. I dont even want to talk about his attitude. I purchased two dresses last week from this store ($650 & $1095). I like both the dresses except tht one wud be under dressed and the other wud be over dressed for my occasion. So I was searching for dresses online on some websites like newyorkdress.com etc tht wud perfectly suit the ocassion. Then I have learnt tht the dress I bought for $650 is juz $370 and the one that I bought for $1095 is juz $650 everywhere online. So dont but from him. Be cautious shopping with Store Owner David at Chic's Place. I can't believe I had a terrible experience and it is unacceptable. David is MONEY HUNGRY and has a lost mindset, he doesn't care about making a customer happy (to ever shop at his store again). This knuckle head tried to sell me ball room pagent dresses not suitable to wear as a wedding gown since delivery was never received on order. David is RUDE, DEMANDING and GREEDY. He is old and unwise business sense because he doesn't care about a women's special day of being beautiful. His staff was respectable toward me. In November of 2015 I did find a suitable wedding dress to my liking that I was excited about and made more than half of a down payment in November 2015. Made final payment in February 2016. Why would he ask when I needed the wedding dress once paid for when he had no intention on getting delivery it to begin with (even though I did state March). He never called to follow-up with me. I had to follow-up with him weekly. All David stated every time I called was "What dress was it and what is my phone number". I asked him do you need my ticket number. He never bothered to call me, I had to call him weekly, had the same conversation piece, "What dress did you ordered, it didn't come in, what is your number", I will call you. He tried to cover up the conversation with stating "I'm more upset than you, this has never happen to him before. One excuse was that the dress is coming form Europe and another excuse was all the dresses are made in China. I even ask for Tracking # to get information on dress myself. David was stunned when I ask that. At March end I had enough and became furious. On Monday, April 4th, I went to the store, was as nice as I could be, but put my foot down, and was stern with him. After reading the reviews on this store I made a final decision to finally let him know that I wanted a refund. He had the audacity to recommend other dresses from his store. From the looks of things, the nearly 500 to 1000 dresses seem to still be hanging in his store unsold. After refunding me my money, he did try to convince me into taking another dress from a catalog, and I politely said I don't know. Then I decided to give him another chance and order another dress from a catalog which he also didn't delivery on because he wanted me to pay for the dress again. I am just indicating to please just be cautious!!!!!! I spoke to an young lady that stated David is a cheap business owner always looking to taken from others and not deliver requested merchandise. If he is tried, he needed to sell his store and retire. He is lucky he did not hesitate to refund me fully because he would of been in court over this. read more

This place is the worst. My mother and i were to attend a masquerade ball and we went there to purchase our dresses. Long story short, she ordered a Jovani dress which the asshole man in the store took her measurements for. When the dress arrived it was to tight. He wanted my mother to pay to have the dress altered. Which was his mistake for measuring her wrong. First off let me start by stating that this is my first time going into this store. I live around the corner and I have always admired the dresses in the window. My sister, who lives out in Long Island has also had some very nice things to say about the dresses when she comes to visit. Needless to say my nieces 8th grade formal is coming up and my sister asked if I could go in there for her. Just to see what kind of styles they had and to get back to her if I thought it would be worth her coming out here to get my nieces dress. Fast forward. I walked in here this morning with my daughter. The older man behind the counter to my right greets me with a "hello" and I greeted him with the same. As I proceed to walk further into the store he goes "how can I help you?". So I proceed to tell him why I'm in there. He gives me this blank stare, stays quiet and very rudely asks me where my niece is. Like I said this is my first time going in here so I didn't know she had to be there or if these dresses are custom made. I just didn't know. The correct thing to do, or the polite thing he could have done was advise me, because I am a potential customer(well my sister was) of what is recommended and how things are done in the store. Not look at me like I'm crazy or like I should already know. That is NOT how you treat customers. I proceed to tell him that I didn't know she was supposed to be there and like I said I am just looking. He then goes "well strollers aren't allowed beyond this point" (the entrance) at this point I am livid! If I wasn't with my daughter I would have cursed him out. Terrible terrible customer service!!! Not quite sure why there's so many reviews under this business that express such hate and anger. I've been a customer for over ten years. I've witness the owner get uptight and upset with customers because almost 95% of the customers who shop at this store think it's marshals or a thrift store. Wrong! Go a block down if you want to spend less than 100.00 that's where marshals is located. Hello, you are walking into a HIGH-END local business. Stop haggling with the owner over and over again. How would you feel? I can feel his frustration every time I shop here! The dress is 600.00, and your mad because he won't drop the price to 100.00? That's your problem not his. I will be 100 percent honest with you this store has so many beautiful couture dresses and gowns which many options you can possibly imagine! Rosie and David always find the perfect black tie dress for me and all my friends for any event we have coming up and always gives such great prices! This is a one stop type of place where you can find your perfect match accessories to your perfect dress. I feel bad for the owner a lot of his clientele are extremely aggressive- I guess it's the location. I payed $100 for hemming and i was told my dress would be ready monday luckily i called before going he said itll be ready tomorrow. Wish I read the reviews prior to purchasing my daughter 's sweet sixteen dress! We found a nice dress very pricey but they did not have it in her size the owner said that we have to wait 3-4 weeks for the correct size to arrive in the store. We were okay with this however when we went to pick the dress up what does he do? He gives us the dress that is a try out with the size label changed and hemmed in to fit as the correct size. I was livid expressed my displeasure, he would not exchange or give us our money back. He just brushed us off . Now my daughter has to wear a dress that has been used and abused in the store. This place is horrible!!! The owner is rude and pushy. The women in the store flock to you like seagulls running for food when you walk in. They will tell you anything looks good and force you to purchase something. Well I got hooked into their scheme and made a purchase and totally regret it. I had hopes of receiving a new dress but I was totally wrong. The dress came and sat in their store for two weeks no one called to inform me to pick it up. I called and they said was in so I went to pick up and find that the bottom of the dress looked like it was dipped in snow slush. Too bad I cannot return the dress. I just recently got my prom dress from here the lady who greeted and attended to us was nice and helped me find my dress in the first try HOWEVER when we left the store after purchasing it i found the dress online for $480 while he was selling it for $769 before "tax" and alterations which cost us up to $941 the only downfall was the dress was discontinued by Sherri hill but if it wasn't i would of most definitely gotten it online then the owner was also a bit rude while we were finalizing the purchase of the dress but when we went to pick it up on the day he supposedly said to go it wasn't even ready mind you we brought the dress on a Saturday and he told us pick it up Tuesday he was changing his time to pick up the dress while my mom was telling him that we couldn't go the day after then he said in an hour the next he called after we left and he said come back it will be done in 10 minutes its sad because this place could do so much better and it has nice dresses if they accommodated the prices for what they are i would get like $20 to $120 more but a $300 difference is ridiculous he offered to bring the dress to our house when they did the dress was fixed but still had the few lose beads PLEASE STAY AWAY read more

OMG WOW! The owner is so rude and unprofessional! Most of the employees as well they curse, talk behind clients' backs and give you attitude. I went there to get a dress for my daughters wedding. The reason I walked in was because I saw this beautiful dress which was on a display. I waited a while before someone asked me whether I needed help, finally someone came to help me. I tried that dress and decided to purchase it. Was told it would take a couple of weeks for my size to arrive. I had to call in to see whether it was ready, and it turns out the dress has arrived but no one called me. I came to the store to try it and it was a little big so they told me they would do alterations. When I came later to try it the alterations were horrific. The under skirt was longer than the lace! The prices of the dresses there are expensive and I thought that they would do a good job. Not only the job was so poor but the owner had the nerve to tell me that it is supposed to look like that and probably don't buy a lot of dresses so I don't know that it is supposed to look like that. I guess uneven cut with under skirt showing is the way to go. He was so rude. When I finally came to pick it up the dress was missing a hook for the tail. They fixed it on the spot. He did not give me a bag for the dress and told me to come back in a couple of weeks because they are all out. I told him he must be kidding, the dress is close to 1k, and he can't give me a bag for the dress!!!??? Yep he can't. This man is disgusting. Zero stars! This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered. One would think after purchasing a sweet 16 gown they would understand the importance of this gown. They lost the ticket receipt directly after purchase, had to create a new receipt. It took two months to receive the dress. When we would show to pick up the dress it "had not been delivered" and when we would phone in advance the manager would ask for us to "call back in 5 minutes to check" and when we would call back it was "let me check" and then we'd get the " call tomorrow or it's on its way"...the tiara that also comes with all purchases for sweet 16's was never given to us because he " forgot" and when he re-ordered it, and of course we showed to pick it up on the date it was to arrive it was still "in route"...waited a week to try to pick up and nothing! If you want to avoid the stress that comes with this place Stay Away, you've been warned, plain awful! read more

The Lady who works in the store is vert nice and helpful. With that said once you have to deal with the man in the store who I am guessing is the owner you will have nothing but a headache. Every time I have called to see if the dress was ready, I would get the same response. "Let me check, I will call you back". I have never gotten a call back after one of these responses. The only time you get a half way straight answer from him is if you go there in person. Do not make the same mistake we made. If you have to order a dress they want you to pay up front, then you are at thier mercy. They could care less about you and the man in particular is very rude after he has your money. They know you are buying dress for a special occasion. As in our case our daughters prom. By the time you get fed up with him your caught between starting the search for another dress somewhere else and the time to find it and have it ready before the occasion. You might have better luck if you are buying something they already have in the shop. I will not bring my other daughters to this shop for prom dresses. That is really to bad because the store does have nice dressses. I really do not know why these people go into jobs where customer service is a big part of it. The men are very very bad at it. I am getting married in less than two weeks and my future Mother-In-law ordered a dress from Chic's place about 6 weeks ago. I was there when she ordered the dress and could not stand the owner David. He was rude and I did not want to order the dress from there but my future Mother-In-Law has been looking all over and couldn't find a dress. He told us he would have the dress before march 1st. She ordered the dress and March 1st came and he did not have the dress. We tried calling and David but he dodged our calls for a day or two but then he finally told us that he will not have the dress. After this he still had a terrible attitude, admitting that he had known for weeks that he was not going to be able to get the dress, Instead of calling us he just waited. Chic's Place and the owner David really has put an extra strain on the last two weeks before our wedding. I would advise for no one to shop in this store!!! read more

Very rude owner. Staff doesn't have a filter. They will tell you you need to lose weight and make you feel horrible about yourself. Would not recommend going here if you need your dress ordered. I tired on a dress, size 10 didn't fit. So we decided to order the dress a size bigger because the guy kept saying 12 will fight. We wanted to get 14 so we can just size is to fit me. Instead of ordering my $400 dress he takes the 10 and makes it a 12. It was a tight fit and would fit better once we opened it a little. He wanted to charge us for the alteration when we told him get a 14. When i went to my own tailer she said it was OPENED already and couldn't be opened anymore. She has to put an extra inch of fabric from the bottom of my dress on the sides. This is a Tony Bowls dress that i paid him $400 for. I could have ordered it myself. He also likes to raise the prices of the dresses from their original price up about $200. Make sure if you go, to have the price of the dress you want on you. Horrible man. The owner of this place is pushy and a prick...i was buying a dress and they would not allow it to take pictures so i can show my husband who was working at that time and could not be there with me...i bought the dress my husband did not like it and i was trying to return it in 2 days and owner said i can not return it and that my husband should have been here...i wanted to punch him...and he said its no refund only store credit...and even though he did not offer me store credit and on top of that he keep saying that its not his job to tell me store policy, then who else job is that...its your store you should tell policy every time somebody makes a purchase and prices are ridiculously high and assistants there are old and so fake...i would never ever recommend this store to anybody they just want to sell you a dress as soon as possible to get your money...worst store ever with workers not knowing store policy. read more

I came in here looking to purchase a dress for an upcoming wedding i am attending. I selected a few dresses and i tried on one that i really liked for $195 but the dress was a bit tight to zip up and it was really long. The sales person suggested they could cut the dress and open out the back for me. She asked the owner and he said it would be $75 additional for alterations. I realized it would be alot of work for a dress i would probably only wear once so i decided not to take it. The owner got snippy and nasty. Called my husband and i over to the cashier counter and started insulting us. Telling us the dress was a designers dress and originally it was 650. I told him i changed my mind and as i proceeded to leave the store he ran after me yelling ok give me 195 and go take it elsewhere to fix. Like seriously who runs after a customer for a sale. This place is so desperate for a sale they stooped so low. Because of his nasty ways i didnt get a dress from there. I ended up going to macys and paying half that price for a beautiful dress that didnt need any alterations. Dont ever settle for a dress that needs much work and is too pricy.
