Our very friendly dog got her lepto shot from a tech while Dr. Derstine looked on. No problem. Then another "tech" (long, dark, straight hair) came in for the blood draw and repeatedly stuck our petrified dog while she complained about "fur" until our dog understandably started wriggling and shrieked. Then Dr. Derstine and the 1st tech held down our dog until the incompetent tech got it write. We hate ourselves for allowing this to occur but we have never seen anything like in many years of dog ownership. Our dog ran out of the office and didn't look back. Neither will we. Dr. Derstine, it is not accepted vet practice to train techs in your office!!!

Original vets I saw are no longer there and its unclear who really are the office vets. Prices for service are very high and I was charged for meds that I'm not sure I even needed for totally inside cats. Everyone I interacted with was positive, but service was a bit slow compared to my other previous interactions. This is just not the place I originally was so happy with.

Our sweet tabby had the procedure 3.5 days ago, and since he has come home, he has been hiding in the basement and refusing to eat, drink, or use the litter box. His pupils are extremely dilated, and he can't walk normally. They saw him again today and gave him subcutaneous fluids and an appetite stimulant, but even that has failed to work. They have told us repeatedly that this is "normal" and might continue for several more days. I wish we had never trusted them. Avoid this place like the plague.

In other words, they take in needy dogs and volunteers provide foster homes for them until the agency is able to find a "fur-ever" permanent adoptive home. And this is how the amazing, adorable Siberian Husky named Frosty came into my life. The adoption process was amazingly simple (paper application, interview, provide three references). The last step is a home visit on the day of your adoption--they brought three dogs I had seen on the website to my home so I could meet each of them. And...an hour later, I was a new dog owner. Post-adoption, there's an e-mail group to share questions, a blog with updates of adopted dogs, and the agency does a great job of following up to see if you need any help. I've found that if I e-mail them with questions, I would get prompt, thorough replies, which was much appreciated. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a furball to be a part of your life (and as if it were even a question, adoption is definitely the way to go). Note: They only adopt to people living in eastern PA, southern NJ, and parts of MD and DE.
