Condescending woman answering the phone who is not helpful to the extent that she must not like people or her job. Either way, it was very difficult to stifle a rude retort back when she acted like helping to arrange a driver for me, on the phone was the last thing she wanted to do. She did sound a little older but the idea of needing a hand-written sig before we could solidify a reservation (tho may not be her fault) but get with the times and either allow a digital signature or get the signature when I get there. Extremely common not to need handwritten signatures in advance if the card holder will be present. I could not possibly book with this company until they update their system and make reservations easier by not requiring I have a printer by my side before I can schedule. This is going to be long but please read it and help me out. As if dealing with COVID-19 isn't enough. Please help me spread the word on what I'm about to share to make sure that this situation becomes corrected and made right. As many of you know and were probably looking to participate in I had a fundraiser for my softball team coming up on April 4th. This trip was planned and being organized before any threat of the corona was thought of spreading to the U.S. However once the virus had started to impact people here in the states business and places of social gatherings started closing. This cause a delay in our trip. We stayed optimistic and rescheduled for the 14th of April. Now that our president had declared that social distancing remain in effect until the 30th of April this will once again affect our trip as well as possibly our softball season. I have reached out to Childers Transportation on more than one occasion about this. The first time was to say that the trip had been canceled by the casino. Now keep in mind this was 100% out of our hands. They said they would not issue a refund and had nothing more to say. After talking with the guys we decided well guess we will reschedule. So I called back to reschedule our date. We did so and then I was told once again by Childers that we can only reschedule so many times before we lose our reservation. Again this is out of our hands. By now the president has declared a national emergency and the virus is spreading. So I said fine let's hold off and I will let you know. By this point I have asked to speak with the manager everytime I call because the gentleman who answers the phone never has any real answers for me. Keep in mind that while all this is happening we have been working with another Transportation company that has been more than willing to work with us and understands completely. They unfortunately could not give us 2 busses so we had to get our second from Childers Transportation. Now let's move forward to today. The president has said self distancing until the 30th of april a while month from now. That's past both our dates for the trip and the beginning of our season which is still unclear if it's going to happen. I called this morning. Asking again what can we do this virus is shutting everything down it is absolutely out of our hands and we dont think this is going to happen. I was told the information would be passed along to the manager and I would hear from him. This was at 1015 this morning. I called them back at 130 because surprise no call back and I'm told. We can not issue you a refund and we are willing to give you a different reservation date up to a year of the original date. Well guess what this isn't going to work. We have 110 people that we would have to reschedule this date with. There are a lot of people not working and would probably like their money back. So now I have to deal with constant back and forth with Childers Transportation, not speaking to a manager, and how I am going to get a $1000 back from a company that doesn't understand that there is a national pandemic going on and people aren't working. Instead they would rather keep the money. Instead of giving back to those who possibly need the money now more than ever because they aren't working. What a great company. Charged me for a ride I didn't use. I never received a confirmation and unfortunately didn't remember until after they closed. There answering machine provided an "emergency" number that I texted and left a voice mail asking to confirm my pick up to the airport the next morning. I never received a response back. Because I needed to leave at 6AM and didn't want to take a chance that my ride wouldn't arrive my husband got up to take me. 3 days later I noticed they charged my card and won't refund it because I didn't cancel the trip. read more

Used their service in November 2017, they were over an hour late for pick up at Detroit Airport, they text that they were 20 minutes away three different times. I hate being lied to. The next day called the office was told I had to speak only to owner in regards to a credit of some sort. No call back , called 3 times in the next 10 days the woman who answered had a laundry list of excuses ....owner out of town , owner sick with flu etc... Our very Unprofessional wedding vendor: Childers Transportation, on Angola Road. 419-535-7019 Here are the problems we encountered: 1. Before the bride or groom ever came out of the church from pictures, the driver of the party bus, Larry, started telling the people in the wedding party and guests, which included 23 people to be exact, that he had NOT been paid yet and the party bus would not be moving until he was paid. Not only is this unprofessional and unethical to discuss payment with anyone other than who the contract was with, he was accusing Brittany and Joe of having not paid their bill which was calling their character and integrity into question. Ps: THIS is against the law!! It's called slander!! Once Joe and Brittany came out from the church, Larry stepped out in front of Joe once Brittany was on the bus and refused to let Joe onto the bus. He informed joe that "he hadn't paid for the bus" and the bus was not moving until he was paid. Joe pulled out his phone and pulled up the email confirmations which acknowledged joes payments and final payment. He held their bus hostage for almost 30 minutes at this point while Joe was trying to resolve this issue. Finally he agreed to move on to the next stop which happened to be the grandparents home where they were headed for their first stop for pictures and after pictures we repeated this entire episode of him demanding payment again in the front yard. After noticing the bus wasn't moving and joe, the driver and bestman were on the front lawn, I came outside to see what was happening. The driver looked me straight in the eye and said, quote: "he hasn't paid for this bus and we will not be moving until I am paid". Then pointed at joe. 2. Joe's poor face... he stated he had indeed paid with a credit card and made the final payment two weeks earlier and was trying to show the driver proof of his payments but the driver refused to look at or accept his email confirmations. And was also refusing to let joe use his phone to call the company in hopes of straightening this out. Finally I said Joe could call the company on my phone, then the driver finally agreed to call the company for Joe to speak with them and then he proceeded to tell me, the best man and a groomsman that "THIS is why they get their money up front"". Because of people just like THIS!" I finally asked how much the bill was and the driver stated there were two parts to the problem A. The bill was $52.50. WAIT... WHAT? $52.50. That's the bill? He then stated he hasn't been tipped yet. All this fuss because he hasn't been tipped yet? The groom had fully paid the bill... which stated tax and tip was included and this damn man told everyone the bill wasn't paid, when in reality the tip wasn't paid?? 3. After I offered to pay the $50 to get the bus moving, he informed me the second part was B. he needed an additional $125 for the additional 1/2 hour it would take to drive the empty bus from LaSalle, Mi back to Angola road in Toledo. Which again, joe had email proof that he had already paid. Joe finally thinks he had it resolved with Kelly on the phone, so he hands the driver back his phone and this driver talks to Kelly and then says $52.50 is all that is owed. Just to get the bus moving, because it has now been an additional 30 minutes waisted, we pay it and state we will resolve this with the company later. I forgot to add: once joe got in the bus, the driver insisted joe sit up front by him to give him directions to where he was going!! . Joe refused Monday Brittany and joe call and speak to Kelly (manager) and she promises to call them back within an hour after a very long conversation and lots of yellung and degrading by her toward joe, but agrees to work with Brittany. No call ever comes. I tell the kids I will have this handled before their plane lands at their honeymoon destination. Tuesday morning I call. 10am, Kelly and John were paged so we could try to resolve this. Neither would come to the phone. Justin @childers stated they weren't answering their page. We chatted and I explained what the issue was and that I wanted this resolved before that plane landed so they could start their honeymoon fresh. Justin understood and stated they would receive my message. 1115 am I call again, asking for John or Kelly. I held while he even went to physically look for either of them. Another message was left. 1210 I call again. This time I'm frustrated beyond belief and explain the plane will land in a couple hours. I ask if the business is a physical place I could walk in to so I could come discuss this in person and requested their address. Justin gives the address and apologizes for them not having called me back yet. I explain to him that I felt they were there, receiving my calls but were phone dodging me and I would be there within the hour to wait to speak to one of them. I wrote this company the following email and never received any kind of follow-up from the company. I hate giving negative reviews but I would suggest avoiding at all costs: To whom it may concern: I just wanted to reach out and let you know about my experience with our limo on October 6, 2018. My husband and I rented a party bus for our wedding and we're very excited as we have always heard great things about Childers. The bus was beautiful and came right on time. However, those were the ONLY positive things about our experience. I wish that I could remember our driver's name to report back to you, but I am sure that it is saved within your system. He was very rude. He immediately asked me (the bride) who he needed to talk to about "the money that was owed to him". I believe we owed him about $65 in a tip and had every intention to leave much more than that, however we ended up leaving him just that due to his demeanor. He offered no help locating/operating the sound system provided to the guests, he did not wait for everyone to be seated on the bus before taking off (which caused one of the girls to fly across the bus), he acted annoyed at every stop that we made (even though we had let the company know of our intentions before we ever even got on the bus), he took the long routes to places (which is fine we we're enjoying ourselves) but then told us that if we we're on the bus one minute past 6:30 that we would be charged $240. For a company that prides themselves on providing "worry-free rides" you might want to have a conversation with this particular bus driver. I see that there are other patrons who have left reviews rated some of the drivers negatively as well, and can't help but wonder if they too had the same driver my bus did. I hate to write this email or ever leave negative reviews, but felt it was necessary as this was the happiest day of our lives thus far, but our bus ride caused us an outrageous amount of stress and really took away from our special day. Unbelievably unprofessional! If you have a problem, like we did, your problem is only the beginning of your problems with this company. The manager & owner, Kelly & John, are unbelievably unprofessional and refuse to even acknowledge their own error. Our apology email began with this wording.., "I would like to apologize for your misunderstanding you had on your contract..." WHAT?? They went on to again incorrectly list the same error (bus rented from 3-6pm) as they made on the day of our event. The rental was actually from 330 to 630, plus we had to pay for an add'l half hour of 630 to 7pm for the bus to be driven back empty from Lasalle, MI to their Angola Road address since we were out of their "local area". Before the bride and groom even came out from the church from wedding pictures, the driver, Larry, had already announced to 23 friends, family and guests in the wedding party that the bus hadn't paid been paid for yet and the bus wouldn't be moving until he was paid. He argues with the groom for approx 30 minutes in the heat at the church before agreeing to take them to their next location for pictures. When they tried to board the bus again after pictures at the first stop, he again held them hostage an additional 30 minutes or so and proceeded to announce to me, the mother of the Bride, that the groom hadn't paid for the bus, and the bus wouldn't be moving until he was paid. He told me that THIS is the reason they ask for payment in advance, because of people like HIM. (Pointing to the groom) Finally I asked how much the bill was and told him I had my credit card on me. Even though the groom was adiment he had paid in full and was asking the driver to look at his email confirmations stating he had paid or to please call the company to confirm or allow him to use the drivers phone so he could call for confirmation. The driver refused, until I stated the groom could use my phone to call. While the groom was talking to Kelly, the driver tells me the bill is $52.50. WHAT? $52.50? He has held this bus for an hour over $52? Which he then clarified was his tip! He was demanding the tip in advance!! Good grief. The bill had indeed actually been paid just as the groom had stated, two weeks prior to the event as agreed per the contract. So he slandered my daughter and son in law to 24 people saying they hadn't paid for the bus, when he meant he hadn't been tipped yet!!! The wording was xxx total due (includes tax & tip) and after reading further it states "Tip due in cash ON the day of the event." *It does not state tip is due at the start of the event. It says ON the day of the event. Most tips are rendered after service is received, not in advance. Regardless, I agreed to pay the $53, he then went on to explain that was only part A of the problem, part B is we also owed an add'l $125 for the 1/2 hour drive to get the bus back to the Angola address. IN CASH. Which had also already been paid, but their paperwork was incorrect, leading to another issue that had to be resolved before he would let the groom on the bus (in over 90* heat in a three piece suit.) and drive them to their next stop, even though my son in law had email confirmation of the correct times and receipt of the add'l time already being paid for. Once they got all that resolved and the groom was allowed on the bus the driver instructed the groom to sit up front by him to give directions to their next stop, instead of sitting with his wedding party and new bride. Obviously the groom declined. And it also bears noting, the air conditioning was not working properly and the bride and groom only had a Choice of one place to sit at the side of the bus, so the vent could be on them. It just gets worse from here once we tried to straighten it out with Kelly and John, the owner and manager. They refused to speak to me, even though they had verbally and in writing been advised I would be handling this since the bride & groom were leaving out of the country for their honeymoon & Kelly hadn't returned the phone call to my daughter & son in law as promised on monday. It's now Thurs. July 19th and the wedding was July 14th. They issued a partial credit, on Tuesday 7/17, but not even for 1/3 of the total cost and again continued to put the blame on the bride and groom misunderstanding their contract instead of accepting responsibility for the mistakes their company had made. I have made 4 phones myself to try to resolve this in a reasonable & fair manner, but they refuse to come to the phone although Justin and Junill in their office acknowledge where the mistake was made (on Childers part) and the communication stopped when John requested Junill inform me they are done dealing with this and we take them to court. Kelly then sent an email stating I threatened them and they will not tolerate harassment. I did not at any time threaten or harass anyone. Our driver was an hour late to transport our bridal party, he was rude and extremely unprofessional. He claimed he had been waiting at the same hotel we were at for 2 hours but we never received one phone call from him telling us he was there. He then continued to complain about how he was waiting for us while taking us to our photo locations. Didn't open the doors for us and we were a bridal party with big dresses and heels. Then once we got to our last location he refused to drive us to the next location without $80 CASH which thank god one of the bridal party had on hand. We had Childers take us to and from Detroit Metro Airport and they were fantastic. Early pick up (4:30 am!) and that driver was a professional as the one who picked us up a week later. Both drivers very friendly and dressed nicely. Would not hesitate to hire them again. read more

Childer's provided my friends and I awesome service on New Year's Eve. James was our driver, and he showed up on time and was always available when we wanted to move on to the next place. He was polite, helpful, and got us everywhere we needed to go and never asked us how to get there. I would recommend this limousine company to anyone. I had a great experience with Childers Limousine. I rented a Sedan from a company to take me to the Detroit airport and broke down on the side of the road. The company I rented through said that it would take them at least two hours to get a car to me. I called Childers Limousine and they were able to get a car to me in 30 minutes and get me to Detroit airport with ample time for me to get to the plane. The driver Justin was great. He didn't speed or put me in any danger what so ever. I now use Childers for all my transportation needs!! read more
