I've been to a few adult classes at different studios. For the beginning class here, I wouldnt say it's the best. I believe in the beginning class you should be working on technique and the instructor should be helping you and correcting you more. This is more of a for fun class to get you started in dancing. It's not as serious as the other levels which some people might like. The other level classes after the beginning level are much better. Here they focus on your form and everything else. The instructors are paying attention to your lines more and offer more constructive critism. These classes I think are better if you want to learn more, work on strength and flexibility, and do more dancing.

This class is great for newbies who (watched a few episodes of Breaking Pointe or SYTYCD and) are curious about ballet and want a welcoming environment where they'll feel comfortable dipping their toe in the water. I've studied ballet at an advanced level and I've been able to find a challenge in each of the classes I've attended--from beginning/intermediate to intermediate/advanced. The instructors I've experienced (Hillary, Patricia, and Amy) are top-notch and friendly with their feedback while being constructive. Similar classes at RDT will run you $12 (plus downtown parking is a nightmare). The classes at SLC Ballet are $10 drop-in rate or you can purchase a punch-card that brings the classes down to $8 per 1.5 hour class (and parking is a dream so you don't have to worry if you're running late). I've been able to build up my strength, stamina, and flexibility again, and I'm looking forward to advancing these skills even further with the adult classes at SLC Ballet. I highly recommend it. The building is compact with many other business surrounding the plaza. Once you walk in, the front desk is to your right and compartments for your stuff is to your left. It is very well lit with many poles in a slightly cramped area. The class I went to was pretty packed, there were only 1-2 free poles left in the studio. The teacher was teaching using the middle front pole, as per usual. The class I took was a beginners class (Bombshell I) and was $20 for the class. I came a little late, so I missed most of the stretching and I joined in for the first trick after doing a little of my own personal stretching. As we were learning the tricks, I felt like the class was rushed. I really enjoyed how many different tricks I was learning, but I was not able to really get it down and the teacher only came around to see how we were doing for some tricks and sometimes would not get to everyone before teaching the next trick. The pace and the minimal help that I was receiving made it difficult to really get anything down. Overall, I really enjoyed how many different things I learned in the 1 hour class; this class introduced me to the most pole tricks I've ever been exposed to through one class. However, I felt like the class was impersonal and rushed. I have been into pole fitness for a few months now and I have been searching around Utah for my perfect pole studio. La Bombe was one of the last studios I looked into and out of all of the studios I had gone to, this studio was the worst fit for me.

The woman at the front seemed a bit flustered since she was the only one there. It would help if there's guidance for newbies (pay here/get wristband there, water bottles available, etc.). Once I got in, the first thing I looked for was a place to put my coat. There were a bunch by the entrance but I didn't want mine to get lost in the pile. Thankfully I found a coat hanger in a corner in the second room that worked well. The first room was the biggest and the main room. The DJs there played mostly sensual Bachata (wish they had played some traditional Dominican too). The second room was smaller and at first it was the Kizomba room but then it switched to the Salsa room. I wish the ventilation in this room was better. There was no air-flow whatsoever. Ended up spending most of my time by the only fan available. The Salsa song selection was on point! Lots of great classics and danceable songs. They offer a dance lesson before the social begins but I didn't make it in time. Around midnight, there was a special performance in the main room by a couple of instructors. Everyone gathered around to watch. It was an amazing Bachata show! Right after, they had the birthday dance, which is a tradition in many dance communities. Everyone lined up to dance with the birthday person. There were many great dancers and I had a blast! At one point the woman at the front got mad at me for walking through the curtain to go back to the front. I was looking for water bottles and didn't feel like elbowing everyone along the way since it was very crowded. It just seemed like an easy shortcut. She was very upset, which made me feel bad.
