We absolutely loved seeing Phantom of the opera here! It is easy to find. The parking is easy. There are a lot of restaurants and shops nearby. City Creek is also close by if you wanted to do some shopping beforehand. Theater itself is very clean. They do have a small concession stand. They also have a restaurant inside that would be fun to try before the play! The production of Phantom of the opera was incredible. We sat on the fourth row. I highly recommend sitting on that row or closer! The cast was outstanding and super talented. I highly recommend! read more

I purchased 3rd row tickets and had an amazing experience. i recommend buying merch before the event. it becomes an extremely long line afterwards. all of the staff were super helpful in finding our seats. they did a great job enforcing a no phones policy during the show, so that we could be fully immersed in the music. read more

I must say, what a great venue! Right when you walk in the doors you feel fancy. The lighting, decor, art, setup makes for an excellent experience. I enjoy that there is a place to eat with a patio. The food is quick food, because they know the show starts and they are pumping out the plates. It sounds like this food is only available before the show so be prepared and come early. Bathrooms are clean and plenty (women, still expect the line). Seats are old (and gorgeous) but more comfortable than most theater seating. Not sure there is a bad spot in the house although there are sweet spot rows that align with the stairs which means your view is unobstructed. But I can't remember the rows (I know, not helpful). AND the stars on the theater ceiling so so classy and beautiful and fit the energy. This is a true gem in the heart of SLC. read more

They sold our tickets out from under us . We are from Different states. We have waited years to for Michael McIntyre, to come to the US and booked months in advance. I had confirmation emails and then the tickets never showed. I called and they said they were not available and although they refunded my money. They did not care that we had traveled from out of town. They just let us know they were no longer avaliable. This was only a few hours before the show. I live in Begas. This has never happened . I have attended plays and show my whole life. Please be cautious booking with them and make sure they send your tickets promptly . We had a blast at the Eccles. We came in off of State St to Regents for garage parking. Very fast service, it was only $5, no cash. This is seriously such a gorgeous, immaculate venue. Multiple security measures in place. Checking purses, and also metal detectors. Clean facility. Beautiful stage and ceiling looks like a night sky full of stars. Been here once to see Jo Koy. This was the perfect sized venue for a comedy show. All seats get a good view and the seating spacing is standard. There are no cup holders in the seats, so that's a bummer. Pricing on concessions was reasonable, and there were plenty of bathrooms so that the line went quickly. Parking was available right around the corner for a reasonable rate. And eating options are plenty within walking distance to grab a bite before the show. I'd see a comedy show here again. read more

I went to the Bob Dylan concert yesterday. The concert wasn't great, but the venue is. The pictures I did upload, were from seeing Buddy Guy. That concert was great. I've sat in the box seats, front 4 row section, central main floor seating, but not the balconies in the back. It's nice to be at a place where the music sounds good. The seats are comfortable, and they even have cup holders. I've been to events where you just show a ticket and go in, but also where you have to go through a gauntlet to get your phone and electronics sealed before entering, and having to show proof of vaccination. Even in those situations, they have things running smoothly. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. This is just an excellent event venue. read more

Beetle juice performance by Justin Collette was crude, sadistic, lurid and gross. I saw this on Broadway and fell in love and this traveling show of talented actors is flushed down the toiled by the lead actor. Isabella Lester (Lydia)on the other hand is absolutely amazing. Let alone that this is her broadway debut. Her voice and diction are some of the very best I've ever heard. The Eccles theatre I think has some problems with audio. The orchestra was overwhelmingly loud whereas the speaking parts were loud but the audio smashed the consonance making it very difficult to understand. Not impressed with the audio in that venue. read more

I echo the sentiments of many other reviewers here and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Just saw Mama Mia and Styx recently and was pleasantly surprised that even on the third tier the sound and view were amazing. I have always noted that the sound quality is exceptional which is sometimes lacking at other theaters. I love the lights on the ceiling like stars. My only gripe is the stairways can get congested after shows and it takes a bit to exit. read more

One star loss is that they keep the theater freezing so your glad to get out of their no matter how good the show is! I understand it's for the staging and actors but man. Brrrr. Get the coffee. I don't go to theaters often, so I don't have much to compare Eccles Theater to, but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a show here. From the moment you walk in and see the giant screen showing clips of Utah, the dangling streamers, and hanging lights, you'll be awestruck at how clean and beautiful the lobby is. The inside of the theater is the same--every seat seems to have a good view of the stage (I was sitting on the balcony towards the back and saw everything just fine), and staff members provided extra cushions to kids to help them sit up higher for a view. And while I'm sure certain shows are more entertaining than others, I loved seeing Champions of Magic here and hope to return to see another show in the future! read more

I have oft lambasted Utah for their lack of decent event venues. At this point, I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one concert or show at all of the major spots, and they are all pitiful or nearly so, save Eccles. Eccles Theater is lovely! First, there is plentiful parking available. I usually just park in the Regent Street Garage. It is located right at the back entrance and super convenient. This last time, I didn't even have to pay! The lobby of the theater is gorgeous: open, with high, high, high ceilings, recessed lighting all across them, glass staircases, and really, glass everywhere! It is quite modern, which is not usually my style, but I really like it here. The actual concert hall, Delta, is beautiful too, with teeny tiny lights sprinkled in the ether, so it appears to be covered in stars. Upholstery is velvety and warm, and the look is sort of old fashioned understated elegance. They sell limited snacks and drinks, but it is nice to have the option. For the concert I attended most recently (one of my most favorite musical artists, Glen Hansard), I had a presale code, but kept getting an error when I attempted to check out online. Slightly freaking out, I called the box office directly, and the woman I spoke to was the sweetest! My cart had held onto two sets of tickets, and she helped me figure out which were the superior seats. She was absolutely correct, as, at the show, there was a time during the performance where I actually had to lean back to see Glen because I was so close! We also had an issue where another couple was sitting in our seats, and the Eccles employees figured it out lickety split! After this concert, my husband, who plays instruments himself, is a total music snob, and doesn't particularly care for the musicians I like, declared Eccles has, by far, the best sound of any venue we've visited in Utah. I don't get all crazy about acoustics or anything, but from what I can tell, that certainly seems to be the case. We've only sat in the orchestra section, so I can't speak for the rest of the hall, but judging from other reviews, it seems there are no bad seats. read more

My mom recommended that we go see the Mannheim Steamroller concert and silly me only heard of one Christmas song from them for many years. They put on a great show, so many melodious songs. Lights and energy were just my style. After the show had to get their greatest hits on my smart phone. Here for the Illusionists show. All are great magicians. Favorite is the manipulator, our asian sensation, amazing with cards. it was like watching anime lol. Good seating all around. We were in aisle and it was a great spot. Ushers were helpful and friendly. PARKING With 8pm showings, paid meters expire at 8pm on Fridays so parking is free. Just get there a minute after 8pm. We got lucky in getting a great parking spot in front of the theater. read more

This theater caused me to walk out half way through my favorite musical and book, Les Miserables. They took the fowl and disgusting movie portrayal and upped it by a factor of 10. I lost count to the number of times, in several scenes, someone pretended to be holding out a phallic object of some type. To make matters worse, the amazing singers/performers could not save the terrible direction and "acting". Every one of them was Cassie from A Chorus Line BEFORE Zack gave her a reality check. Almost every singer stood in center downstage looking at the audience to sing their song. There wasn't an ounce of acting and understanding of the person they were portraying. In the group numbers, the supporting cast were so dramatic that they pulled focus from the leads. Fantine was the worst performance I have ever witnessed. Over acting from beginning until 10 seconds before her death. I can't blame the actress, because everyone was obviously directed the same way, she just took it to the point of ludicrous. In the one place we're she SHOULD have over acted, her death, she didn't. Marius was terrible too, but mostly because he didn't understand how to be a masculine character. Javert and Jean Valjean would have been phenomenal if they had proper direction and support. I looked forward to seeing Les Mis for over 2 years, and we had to walk out on the worst performance of the show it brought me to tears. Go to Hale Center Theater, they are beating Eccles on all of their shows. We will not be renewing our season passes, we're tired of the progressive liberal agenda masquerading as a theater. Fortunately they'll go bankrupt if they continue down this path. read more

A great theater to have in SLC. Nice, new building in a great part of SLC with good restaurants near by. We saw Wicked and all really enjoyed it. Getting in can be a little slow with people doing the metal detector wands. The staircase I went up and down could have been a little more wide as well. The sound was great, the seats were comfortable for theater seats, the bathrooms sparkly clean, it's a great venue. Tickets are pretty expensive, but I noticed that at least for Wicked they did a $25 raffle for something like 10 people per show (with the option to buy an extra ticket if you got in). Might be worth checking out if you live nearby and have some time. read more

Beautiful. Brand New. GRAND. What more can I say about this theater?! Multi-levels with the ability to overlook the lobby and floor to ceiling windows to see outside. I have been here a couple times for a play and then an NPR show. Both times were amazing. Sat in upper level and didn't feel like I was too far away from the stage. They have a concessions stand with drinks such as coffee and beer and snacks such as chocolate and nuts. Bathrooms are very easy to locate and get to. Elevators for those who need it and stairs for those who can handle it. Don't pass up on visiting this theater! read more

We've been to quite a few shows at the Eccles. It's a great venue and hardly a bad seat in the house. Everyone we've ever interacted with there, from security to ushers to box office staff have been friendly and helpful. Seats are comfortable, the shows tend to start on time, and everything looks well maintained. Tickets tend to be spendy, but that's a reflection of the performers and not the venue itself, and they're actually cheaper than performances we've seen in other cities. There's tons of parking nearby, curbside drop-off if you're taking an Über, and the Metro passes right by so getting there is no problem. There are tons of places to eat within just a few minutes' walking distance so you can eat before you catch your show. read more

Eccles is beautiful, the whole theater makes me feel fancy when I'm inside. When Eccles first opened I was ecstatic! I couldn't wait for Broadway shows to finally come and perform in a beautiful theater in Utah. I saw Book of Mormon on Broadway and wished I could experience that more often and in my home state. Eccles provides that experience. The sound in incredible no matter where you are seated. Even from tier 3 you can hear and see everything. Pricing is fair for performing arts and depending on where you sit. I'd love to sit front row but I don't think that'll happen unless I win free tickets. Lol. Tier 3 works for me for now! I have seen Lion King, Book of Mormon and Rent at Eccles. All have been fantastic! Seeing these always makes me wish I was born a performing. In another life I'll come back as one. The facility is beautiful inside, they have drinks alcoholic and not, as well as snacks to be purchased. It gets a little backed up after the show, there are two elevators and two staircases and hundreds of people exiting. Parking is $5 and right on site. I look forward to the shows that will continue to come to Eccles and Utah! read more

The Eccles Theater is the epitome of classy and artistic. I am always in awe of the architecture and beauty every time I visit to see a show. However, if you purchase a seat in the upper balconies, be prepared for a slow exit at the end of the show. There are a few staircases and elevators, but they get crowded and claustrophobic very quickly. Once you make it to the main level (in clement weather), the north wall is lifted exposing the outside. But it takes awhile to get there if you are unfortunate enough to be seated upstairs. The theater itself is comfortable-although those higher seats do come with a diminished view. I'd recommend forking over a few extra bucks and getting seats on the main level-not only for the show, but for the exit as well. I always love the performances here-they are well done and a little edgy. I appreciate the artistry and diversity. read more

Came here to watch the lion king musical and I was blown away by everything. Honestly I do not think there is any bad seats in the house. Before I go into the theater itself, let's talk about the lobby. The lobby area is very huge and spacious. When I went it was filled with people, but we still had plenty of room to look around and move without getting too crowded. When I went there they set up a photo booth where they take a photo of you and your group. I notice on their website that they have done this photo booth for plenty of other musical and theater performances. There are restrooms located on every floor, and a concession area as well. You would not need to trek down to the first floor lobby to just buy a snack. If you are bringing a younger person or just shorter and would a bit of a boost, but don't want those uncomfortable booster chairs...well you can rent booster cushions for $1. Now the theater itself. It was magnificent. The vocals of the actors and actresses echoed within the room. The musical instruments of the orchestra flowing beautifully in the theater. The roof of the theater glimmering with lights like a stars was shining outside. Everything was just a wonderful experience. The prices for a drink/snack here is a total rip off though. I paid around $20 for two cups of beer. It wasn't big cups, it was the size of a medium coffee cup. The only thing is that I think you are paying for the cup as well. The cup is made with a nice hard plastic and it comes with a very strong plastic lid as well. Great theater, great show, horrible theater price for snacks...it is a definitely pass for me. read more

Absolutely stunning! This brand new building (September 2016) is gorgeous and an incredible addition to Salt Lake City. Named for George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles -- the late namesakes of the George S and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation -- whole legacy of contribution and support of the arts in Utah lives on in new ways in this building. It was a collaboration of private and pubic funding. This clean but elegant space houses a small café that's open to the pubilc each day (listed separately on Yelp), a 200 person black box theater, and of course the 2500-seat main Delta Performance Hall. When the initial lineup was announced it included a diverse range of Broadway shows, classical symphony, modern pop artists, and traveling lecturers. This is life. This is what makes a city a home, and a true magnet to not only bring in world-class talent, but a loudspeaker to broadcast Salt Lake City to the world. That might sound grandiose, but I'm a big fan of the arts and believe in their power to connect us all together. Whether you see a show, or hang out on the terrace up top, or just pop in to peep the six-story lobby, this place is bound to make an impression. I'm a little hazy about which parts are rentable (I'm not exactly sure I'm in the market for a 2500-seat event... that may be a bit out of my price range) but I'm told there are bits and pieces, rooms, and levels (?) available if you're interested. Salt Lake City is rad. It's been incredible to see the new life around the heart of downtown. Grab a meal at a nearby restaurant (or one of the new ones coming soon to Regent Street), or do their $18 dinner available at the theater, see a world-class production, and walk the wide and beautiful streets of SLC. read more
