If you want your child's first dental experience to be a positive one, this is the place to go to. They really specialize in working with kids, so you know you're in good hands. Having a good first experience is vital to set the pace for subsequent visits you will have with your kid.
What I love is that they have a waiting area where young kids can play with a teeter totter, a play house, some books and toys. At the on-set, kids already feel comfortable about their visit. We met with Dr. Marie who was able to explain everything we need to know prior to seeing my 2-year-old. We did what was called a bear hug - this involves the parent in the experience. The baby sits on the mommy's lap and the dentist sits right in front of you so the kid can lay his/her head down on the dentist's lap. While my child really felt frightened at first, this position made her feel like I was always there with her and that she didn't need to be so scared. For the first meeting, we only did the cleaning and fluoride application.
We also had a very long talk with the dentist after so she can go through the dental plan with us including the steps we need to take to ensure continued good dental health and how frequent the visits should be. You could always ask the dentists or the reception area about the costs of the different procedures. read more
