A young, innocent male child busted his head open in one of Children's Discovery Center classrooms - received 7 staples. Neglect on the teachers in the room for sure. Not one of the owners (Ann, her adult son & adult daughter) called, texted or emailed the parent to to see how he was doing, nor did they ever ask how he was doing when he returned. They lack empathy. Don't trust family run daycares. This place doesn't have cameras either. read more

The owners are really nice and run a great daycare. The staff is wonderful with children. They have a great security system for checking the kids in and out. The playgrounds are very nice and give the kids a lot of room to play outside. They offer childcare from 6 weeks to 12 years old. They offer before and after school care for school age children and summer camp. As a bonus, they have coffee for sale in the morning and usually have baked treats as they own a catering business, too. read more

CDC is a great center! The owners are always readily available. Justin, especially, communicates promptly through email which is a huge plus for me. He's also very friendly towards the kids and I swear he knows the name of every child in the center. My kids started there when they were 4, so they were in two different classrooms their total time there. ALL of the teachers were fantastic. Although we didn't get to experience the younger classes I can tell the kids are all happy there. Even the infants laugh and smile with glee on their buggy rides. The curriculum keeps kids fully engaged at all times and they definitely aren't just babysitting the children (I've unfortunately had to experience this at another center). Security at the center is top notch and you can feel safe knowing your child is in good hands. read more

Children's Discovery Center is a wonderful place; my grandson has been attending their summer camp each summer for the past eight years when he is visiting from New York. He started in this daycare when he was just four years old and is now twelve. The story behind us picking this daycare would break your heart and is a long one, but I will just say not all daycares provide safe environments for the children they care for. My grandson recovered and flourished at the Children's Discovery Center. I will always remember how well they treated him.This​ will be his last year at the camp and it will be sad to say goodbye to a wonderful group of professional and caring people. I would recommend this daycare to ANYONE looking for a place that makes your children feel like they're at home.​ read more

Children's Discovery Center is the best day care around! Please do not let the negative reviews by others deter you from checking it out! This is a wonderful faciility. My son is two and he totally loves it. The teachers are amazing and most have been there for years and years! The owner and her sons (who both work there) are super friendly and greet my child by name each morning. They actually switch classrooms every 4 months or so the children get to experience different classroom settings and enviroments more often. I really can't say enough wonderful things about this center! They send home daily report cards with how his day way, how much lunch he ate and always a fun comment about their day! They go outside twice a day and have wonderful playgrounds. They bring home awesome art projects and just yesterday he brought home a huge bean plant that they grew in class!! I highly recommend CDC. We have three children, all of which have attended CDC. From the baby rooms through Kindergarten, it's been wonderful. My oldest son attended their private Kindergarten (due to the WCPSS birthday cutoff) and I can't tell you how well Ms. Holly and Ms. Vern prepared him for attending Kindergarten once he was eligible. He's one of the only readers in his class, math is a breeze, and he's so confident. It was, hands-down, the best choice we could have made for our son. I would usually never write a review on Yelp but in this matter I feel I have no choice but to express my feelings. This daycare had nothing but negative comments to make about my child. My child is going through what we call "terrible twos." Every child goes through them. My child has been in two classes here and in the first class all they had to tell me after I asked them how the day was they responded "the same." No parent would want to hear only negative things about their child. So as a parent I said is there anything positive you had to say about my child. They responded with a "well your child sat for circle time." I shouldn't have to ask for a positive comment it should have been given. Next they moved my child into the older 2's. The teacher recommended that I seek an evaluation for my child who was hitting. Now I understand hitting is a NO NO and I was trying everything to turn the hitting into gentle hands. Not to mention we had a meeting with the teacher and the directors who told me they will try a sticker chart which I might add they never tried but I did and it worked for me and my child. So, I had brought my child for an evaluation why I don't know because he speaks full sentences, expresses his emotions and feelings and does what every 2.5 year old would do. But I did it anyway, after the evaluation they told me my child was NOT eligible for their program (which I already knew) but they recommended I switch daycares because it wasn't a good fit. My child has been in daycare before (I recently moved) and would always come home to tell me about his day. Here he never once expressed how his day went or who his friends were. I was worried about the fact my child may not have liked the school and my intuition was right. My child didn't obviously like it there. My child's last day of school I was asked how the evaluation went, I told them my child scored 90s and 100s in all the tests and their response was "oh okay." Like they were looking for a problem with my child. After that I knew it was time to look else where. If you want a daycare where a child needs to be prim and proper this is the school for you. I will not recommend this daycare to my friends and or family. I didn't appreciate the lack of personality and or teaching abilities in the school. I have worked with children and even I know if a child is a lot to handle you always find a positive. read more

When our nanny was ready to start law school, I looked at a total of 9 day care centers. Children's Discovery Center can not be beat. Like most moms, I want only the best for my children when I have to be away from them and this center is wonderful. The teachers are loving and the staff is great. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well decorated for the kids. Many other 5 star centers that I visited (did I mention that I toured A LOT) could not even come close to comparing to CDC. The arts and crafts that my 3 year old brings home are wonderful and my 5 year old really enjoys his classroom. I work 3 days a week and CDC is very accommodating to my schedule. Even though my kids have only been there less than a year and only come part time, everyone knows their names and greets them as they walk by. I really can't say enough great things about this center and it earns an A+ from our family. read more
