MUMPS (as it is abbreviated) is something of a secret treasure in Raleigh. I found out about it…read morethrough word-of-mouth and have never known them to do much in the way of advertising, but it is a GREAT program. MUMPS is a half-day program that runs concurrently with the Wake County public school system calendar, though they have their own severe weather policy and do not observe WCPSS teacher workdays. It IS a religious preschool. They do learn about God and Jesus; several times per month they go to Chapel. It's nothing overly pushy or confusing to the children. They also emphasize kindness to others, and visit with the senior citizens in the church program a few times each year to sing them songs or help out. Tuition is very reasonable. It sounded expensive to me at first for a half-day program, but if you break it down hourly, it really isn't (I pay just over $4 per hour). They do offer discounts/reduced tuition to families enrolling multiple children or experiencing financial difficulty. Classes are small; they seem to be typically under-enrolled and accepting new students. My son started this year in a class of only 6 children (with 2 teachers per class), but has grown to about 10 now. They spend each day doing the usual preschool activities- singing, dancing, coloring, cutting, practicing their alphabet and writing skills, reading, playing on the outdoor playground, and going to "discovery" (an amazingly well-stocked science classroom). The teachers are all amazing and many have been working there for over a decade, if not since their own children were preschoolers there! Vivian Brendle is the director of the Preschool and has been involved with it for many years. She does an amazing job of keeping parents in the loop and involved, through field trips, volunteer work (planting bulbs to beautify the church grounds is one of my favorite activities to help the kids with), and best of all- they often e-mail home photos of the childrens' daily activities. I love being able to forward these e-mails to my mom, since she lives out of town and doesn't get to see the kids as often as she'd like! Overall I could not recommend MUMPS any more highly. If you are looking for an easy entry into the world of preschool for your 2-5 year old kids, and are considering a half-day, Christian-centered program, MUMPS is definitely worth checking out.

They clearly have a passion for what they are doing and make it a priority to make each child who walks in the door feel special each and every day! They offer fun, creative programs for the children and fun family events to participate in as well. My son wakes up asking to go to "Millbrook School" and runs to give his teachers big hugs every morning! Overall, we feel really blessed to have found MUMPS.

While I normally appreciate a cautious outlook on health, I can't quite shake the feeling that they knew that I was able to pick my daughter up so we were the first call when for whatever reason they needed children to go home early. I will say I enjoyed my daughter's teachers, they were always pleasant. Because of the teachers we were initially willing to overlook a few bumps in the road by making our position and what we expect clear. However, the business practices of the facility remained untenable. Even up to the point where we gave our notice, they cancelled the last week on us. If you plan on taking your child here, either have a really great PTO policy with your job, or keep another sitter on retainer. You will not be able to reliably take your child there and attend to your job.

When filing a formal complaint with the state AND speaking to the owner, both blew him off. When he asked the kids about it they told him the names of the other kids who have been abused by her. They told him she takes them into a separate room and apparently all you hear is her screaming and she grabs them and shakes them and pushes them around while screaming at them. This is completely unacceptable behavior and I really hope the people responsible are held accoubtable.

This is the third time he has been bit by the SAME, KNOWN, biter. He has bitten multiple children, on multiple occasions, over a lengthy period of time. His own teachers call him "the piranha". But yet, because I was upset, and thought they weren't doing enough to protect the children from him, was told "it's not a good fit". We've been there for over a year, and I would challenge them to produce one teacher in that facility that doesn't enjoy my son. But I have heard all kinds of negative comments about the other one. And because he has a difficult home situation, he gets a pass. I'm so heartbroken that my son is being punished. I have even swallowed every bit of pride and practically begged to stay. But "it's not a good fit" because I'm the squeaky wheel. RE: Jamie L's review There is not anything else to the story. The reason I wanted to stay was because I have an anxiety problem and don't deal well with change. The thought of having to introduce my son to new teachers the week before I had to go out of town for work was overwhelming to me, and I had a moment of weakness thinking that staying at Lionsgate would have been the better choice. I am SOOO glad that I didn't get the opportunity to follow through with that. My son has thrived in his new school, and has not been bitten even one time. We are incredibly happy where we are at, and still maintain a relationship with some of the teachers from Lionsgate so that my son can still have them in his life. I NEVER had a problem with the teachers; my problem was always and only with the lack of action by Heidi McCaskey and Glenda McCombs.

Where to begin with the review??…read more I had the pleasure of bringing my two kids here at an early age. After meeting the assistant director (now director, Heidi McCaskey) I knew I was in the right place. Not only was she super friendly, the teachers seemed great during my walk through! I pulled my kids out of another daycare for issues that they couldn't handle and put them here at lionsgate! Best decision of mine and my kids life. I have never had any issues with the staff and have been there for 5 years. As for the last review, why would you beg to come back if you hate this place?? Seems a little silly you hate the place and yet beg to stay, Just my opinion!! There is obviously more to this situation that is untold. I think it is unfortunate that Heidi is made out to be this terrible person when she has been nothing but awesome to our family. Maybe she cares more about the children and tries to find solutions rather than just kicking them out.
