My family and I relocated to Wayne County. My son was enrolled in the elementary school. I was told…read morethat it would be 10 days for him to get a bus. It has now been 35 days. He was given the bus number but have not been out on the physical bus. This is inconvenient to a lot of parents that trying to make a living and work full time. I also applied to be a substitute teacher in the Wayne county district. I done all the onboarding and paid the $25 for urine test. When my background came back, I was called and told that a misdemeanor that I had 19 years ago needed to be explained. I went back into the application to explain it only to be denied employment because of a past charge. By the way I'm already employed Subbing in another county and loved by all my students with zero issues. This school system needs re evaluation and better guidelines. They are definitely losing great workers. Hopefully this review reach the news.

I went to surprise the three…read moreof them at lunch today at school and have always loved the whole experience of HB Suggs Elementary because upon arriving, you must buzz the door to allow someone to let you inside after IDing yourself. Then you check into the office on the computer and print a name tag with your photo on it and must check out when you leave. I love the security I feel while here! The staff is always friendly and willing to help show you where to go. The halls are quiet and clean. The classes are clean, organized and they also separate the K-2 and 3-5 grades by halls and also buildings which is nice due to the difference in each child's size. The cafeteria is always clean, orderly and if someone doesn't like the choice they had, or still hungry, they allow them to switch or get another serving so no one is hungry. I love I get to sit at a round table when I go because it's more personal to talk with my kids. The positive reinforcement and motivation each teach demonstrates is why I never hear my children ask to not go to school! They love it! So do I! They have a mobile app too which updates me if something happens.

This is a FREE-Public school and alternative choice. My only regret is not sending my son to this…read moreschool sooner. My son is going into 11th grade and will be first graduating class they have done more for him then any other school in our area. He will be taking duel credit with Pamlico Community College and ACS high school. They go above and beyond for these children providing a small learning enviroment. They have many events and try to get community involment. The only down fall is the school doesn't offer many sports, however they are growing.
