I went online to speak to a representative and schedule a tour with Coal Mine Kindercare. The representative was wonderful and helpful and promptly scheduled my tour for a Thursday at 5 PM. Shortly after scheduling the tour, I recieved a voicemail from Brooke asking if she could reschedule for an earlier time. I returned her call around 5:30 PM the same day and explained to her the reason why we scheduled the tour for when we did. My husband and I work half an hour in opposite directions and he does not get off work until 4:30 PM, therefore the earliest we could do was 5. Brooke stated she was not able to give tours after 4 PM because she was helping out in classrooms and asked if a lunch time tour would work. I again stated that we worked half an hour away from the center and we would have to take a half day off of work just to come and tour, so no that wouldn't work. She again asked if a lunch time tour was acceptable, and I finally told her we would not be touring at all. Instead of trying to get my business, she simply said she was sorry she couldn't do night tours and hung up the phone. If an establishment is unwilling to work with future parents who have normal work schedules and are unable to take time off for a mid day tour, why would I want to give them my business and trust my infant with them? The Goddard School allows drop in tours at any hour and Primrose was more than accommodating of a night tour. They have my business.

From the very being (about 3 years) Daddy Mom has been going above and beyond for me and my three kids that go there everyday. From helping with CCAP to getting my youngest ready for kindergarten and potty training reminders. These people have a role in raising the kids that go to their facility everyday and over the past 3 years I can say that I trust them implicitly with the most important thing in my life. As a parent you never stop worrying when I kiss them good bye every morning I don't ask as many questions to myself during the day.

My daughter been going to this site since she was 2 &1/2. She graduates this year. They have staff there who aren't properly trained and or have no experience. They have been on probation for their childcare license since November of 2018. My daughter almost died in their care. Yesterday on April 8th 2019, I arrive to get my daughter during nap time , and I see white stuff by her mouth. I assumed it was food. As I'm pulling, it's getting stuck and I sit her up immediately only to pull a wad of tissue out her mouth. (Will post a pic) when I arrived both Jillian and Dalena were on their cell phones. (This is a licensing violation) I asked why there was tissue paper in her mouth while she was sleeping. Not either of them could answer my question as to how it got into her mouth and why it was there or how they didn't catch it was in there. Maybe they didn't catch it because their faces were stuck to their phones. I showed Jillian the tissue she kept saying "I'll get rid of that, hand it to me" I refused to hand it to her. She was eager to get it and dispose of it. Furious to not getting answers I grabbed my daughter and left. When I got home I immediately called the manager Heidi, she was unavailable so I left a message regarding my concerns. She did not call me back. I spoke to some girl named Mary, she contacted me back. Told me she'd contact Jillian and get back to me, which she did. But she was no help, very unprofessional and ignorant to the whole situation. She did not care that my daughter could've choked and died. She told me in her exact words "Jillian didn't know how it got there and was on her phone doing some work related things" I asked "how can we prevent something like this happening from the future to ensure my daughters safety?" She said "we're going to continue doing what we're doing, we not doing anything wrong" I was so appalled and humiliated for her. She obviously doesn't have training. I said "excuse me?" She said "this is just where we're at right now" "if you don't feel like your daughter is safe why send her here" I was in so much shock and disbelief that she said that. I responded "you think this is just going to be swept under the rug like it's no big deal? My daughter could've choked and died in her sleep" she said "it's just where we're at right now" I responded "if I have to take my daughter out for a safety concern that could easily be fixed I'm gonna go above and beyond to make sure you're facility gets closed down" "I will NOT allow you guys to treat me like I'm wrong for wanting a plan in place when it come to my daughter safety" I have requested a meeting with Heidi in person, let's see if she gets back to me. I would NEVER want any parent to go through what I went through and be treated the way I have!! I will NOT STOP UNTIL I GET ANSWERS AND CLOSURE. They need to be held accountable for their staffs action. Oh and the sad part, the director was in the class and still couldn't provide answers. They need to retrain their staff or throw them all away and start over. No innocent child should be in a position where they are not cared for, watched properly or safe. Will keep you guys updated once I meet with Heidi and let you know if I get this situation handled properly. I refuse to pull my daughter out. She deserves to be part of graduation like anyone else!! She absolutely loves it, and has progressed so much due to the care and attention she receives from her teachers. She loves going there every morning, and is always happy when we pick her up. We get good, consistent feedback from the staff there, and they genuinely seem happy to see our daughter each day. Also, the new location at 10th and Fillmore is so nice! The 1 star reviews for this place are not accurate at all in our experience, so please be sure to give these guys a try.

My daughter went here for preschool during my ex wife's parenting time. I visited my daughter…read moremaybe 2 or 3 times total and for two of those times I brought donuts for the entire staff. I had a custody case in which one of their teachers was interviewed. This teacher, Zanaya Garrett Piazza made the following statements about me to the Child Family Investigator Amy Peterson (who was also very biased against me: "[Father] was totally opposite -- standoffish and brash, our rule is if you come in, introduce yourself to the children (they're trying to teach stranger danger). He did not let anyone know he was coming and then it was a little wierd for [daughter] . She would be active, super happy, and playful, then her dad would come in and bring doughnuts for Inaya to pick from but not anyone else". First off I brought donuts for the entire staff- NOT the kids. If you are teaching stranger danger to kids, the first rule is not taking candy from strangers. "Then he started sitting outside the gate, parking nearby, walking up to the school and staring. It gave some people anxiety because if someone didn't know he was a student's dad, they would have been concerned. Shortly after that she hired a para and she knew his native tongue, and he flirted with her in front of the students. She had asked that he only go to La Petite on days that he would pick up or drop off [daughter]. He became rude and did not care." NONE of this happened. The basic proof here is that I never dropped my daughter to this pre-school or picked her from there because she was not enrolled on my parenting time! She was enrolled at Crescent View Academy-- a much better school. "He would ask [daughter] "oh you're going with mommy's friend? Who is mommy's friend? She has worked with children a while and you can tell by the child's body language -- they shift away when a parent asks them about another parent. She would look at her like ' can you help me Ms. Z.? Ms. Z would try to engage her to come along but she was on his lap and he put pressure on her lap so she couldn't get up" I mean what telenovela is this? Was I having all these convos with a 3.5 year old child in front of the teacher? "At first she wass really excited to be at school and hang out with her peers, and then when she started going back and forth she filt like the confusion kicked in. And I know in their culture you're supposed to take a water cup to the bathroom. But at La Petite Academy they support them going to the bathroom whenver they need to. Father wanted to make sure [daughter] did that--but she had 30 other kids. And [daughter] was too young to know about their cultural beliefs and to know that she needed to bring a water bottle to the bathroom when it caused problems with the other kids." This is the real reason this bigot lied. she is a racist. And she has helped my rights to my own child get stolen from me based on these disgusting lies. Avoid this business at all costs, especially if you are a minority and a Muslim. Ms. Z herself is black, I do not understand where this bigotry comes from. This place should be out of business. The blatant lies told about me can be told about YOU and it can destroy your life. Especially if you are in the large Muslim community here, please avoid this place they are very Islamophobic.

She truly gets young children, in a way I have not seen before in a day care center. I have seen Kathy and her staff respond to toy stealing, tantrums, hitting, and other normal behaviors of young children with immense patience and gentleness. Kathy and her staff truly seek to understand and come alongside children, not boss them around or control them. The kids spend a large portion of the day outside, in this beautiful fenced-in property in a safe and vibrant neighborhood. It is tranquil and calm both inside and outside Sunflower Hill. My son enjoys daily circle time, songs and books, and crafts (they even bake bread and plant flowers with the kids). "Squirrel Nutkin" comes alive from the book they read, and munches on sunflower seeds outside the center. We have attended a few of Sunflower Hill's festivals, which are a great opportunity to meet parents and watch your kids thrive together. The lantern festival was a time to pause and reflect on the darkening of the seasons, and how the light is inside each of us. The kids each made a lantern and we walked around outside singing songs. It truly is as magical as it sounds. Kathy and her staff have a holistic approach to childcare, which isn't what all families are looking for. The "curriculum" is not structured or rigid, like many schools are. Each family should choose what works best for their child, and Waldorf isn't a good fit for everyone. Kathy provides flexibility in choosing days of the week, and the opportunity to re-arrange your days if needed. We looked at several child care centers in Denver, and Sunflower Hill has very reasonable pricing. They are open long hours, and it is a very convenient pick for working parents. Also, the center is housed on a sleepy neighborhood street without traffic, so you don't have to fight to find a parking spot. Pickup and dropoff are always easy. When we started at Sunflower Hill, Kathy would send us photos of our son and encouraging notes about how he was acclimating to the group. Kathy always texts me if our son is hurt (a self-inflicted scratch while playing with sticks, and a toy sharing incident that turned into hitting), and sends us photos of him with an update. I am so impressed by this attention to my child's safety, and trust Kathy immensely. Kathy has asked for feedback from parents in several of her weekly emails, and shows genuine humility and a desire to continue changing and adapting as needed. Though I don't pretend to know half as much about raising young children as Kathy, I wouldn't hesitate to speak to her if I had any concerns. The staff are fantastic, our son especially loves Warren who sings cowboy songs to him and is so attentive to his language development. We are overjoyed that our son is blossoming here. He comes home from school each day chatting about his friends, and has started pretend play at just over 2 years old, which speaks to how healthy and supportive this center is for his imagination.
