Still the same. Prices were high on out-of-shape shoes, and I saw "as is" items for big bucks as well. "As is" should be affordable, no matter how haute couture it is. Or, do prissy moms think that I desire their children's mistakes? I do not, and I do not think that CTP should accept items like that. I also saw McDonald's toys for sale. Just a few, but still... The toy area was hard to maneuver. Toddler rides that once graced sunny lawns and driveways blocked the way to that area. You have to be careful not to trip. Shoes in two different areas contributed to the chaos, with one being awkwardly underneath a rack of spinning clothes. The women seemed sweet enough, although it felt like I had walked into a clique. One woman sorta greeted me as she was walking away. When I talked with her a bit later, she seemed short, but she might have mistook my shy smile as snobbery. Highly over priced! We are in Asheville for the week and needed a few pairs of 2t pajamas and a stroller. I was dumbfounded when I saw that children's place brand pajamas were $11. I can literally go to the outlet right down the road and get them for cheaper. Strollers were $250+... how is this considered a consignment shop? With the snarky review from Amy S and the less than accurate review from Wendy L., I felt the need to write my own review. I have been doing business with Children's Trading Post for approximately 8 years when I found out that within a 90 day period of time I would be bring a bundle of joy into the world. So, I stumbled into the door wherein I was greeted with open arms. Sandra, the owner, and nearly all of the employees have been nothing short of kind, friendly, and helpful. At times, Sandra, and her staff, have gone out of their way to be helpful and understanding to me. Now, the merchandise: I have RARELY, emphasis on RARELY, found any item in the store to be less than of the best quality that slightly used children's clothing, shoes, toys, etc. can be. The owner and staff go over every item with a fine tooth comb. There are items I thought were pristine which I brought to the store for resale only to have them returned to me with a gentle, yet embarrassing, show of the small (sometimes tiny or miniscule) mark, soiled sport, imperfections, etc. I, unlike some of the consignors/mothers mentioned by Amy S., know how to use a washing machine and know just what needs to go into a trash can. I only consign items that I would want to buy myself. If it is too worn, pilled, stretched, faded, etc., neither will I take for consignment nor will Sandra or her staff accept it for consignment. I am sure that there are exceptions and an item or two may slip through the cracks but I am here to tell you that if the Children's Trading Post has it, it has gone through the "mill" (to quote Amy S.) of Sandra and her staff. I shop at several consignment shops in the area. The Children's Trading Post by far has the best quality of consigned items in town. What passes for quality or good enough for resale at other shops will not necessarily be allowed or placed for sale at The Children's Trading Post. In regards to pricing, most people seem to mistake consignment with yard sale. They are not one and the same. Consignment prices for top quality merchandise are not going to be yard sale cheap. The Children's Trading Post seems to attract a great deal of high end and above average brands of children's clothing. Therefore, the price will reflect the quality, brand, style, etc. Also, Children's Trading Post has a constant and running markdown that moves up every 30 days. Items in the store for 30 days go to an automatic 25% off, 50% off at 60 days, 75% at 90 days. Children's Trading Post also offers lay away. I have availed myself of many items at 50% to 75% office and utilized the lay away often. The Children's Trading Post is quite full at times of wonderful items to make life easier and more affordable for busy parents. The toys, furniture, and other bulky items do seem to take up room but there is a great selection and I usually have no problem maneuvering through the store. I often find treasure of some sort for my daughter by walking through the store at the numerous items wanting and wishing for new homes to grace. The majority of shoes are located in one area but sometimes the marked down shoes of 50% to 75% or more are placed with the racks of clothes of the same price range. The staff reviews the shoes with the same careful review as the clothing. I have RARELY, again emphasis on RARELY, noticed any "out-of-shape" shoes. The staff of The Children's Trading Post are experts of the children's clothing, shoe, and equipment world. They sell and price accordingly. So, while Amy S. has a flair for writing and complaining via the written word, her review falls short of describing the real essence of Children's Trading Post . It is a great place to find great clothes and items for children. Many items still retain the original price tag from a retail store. Most items are hardly worn and barely used. The majority of my daughter's wardrobe since before she was born has come from The Children's Trading Post. She always looks well put together and well dressed. You would never know from looking at my child that she wasn't surrounded by the very best. I have also purchased many toy items for my daughter without compliant of anything looking or feeling used or second hand. I hope this TRUE and ACCURATE review is helpful. read more

I love these women and the store! My daughter, who is now 13 years old and 5 foot eight, has been going to the store since she was in preschool. They have watched her grow, considerably, and since she grows so quickly I felt like I was renting the clothes rather than buying them. I would buy the clothes there, she would wear them for little bit, grow out of them quickly, and they would buy them back. I love this concept, and I love how easy these women are to deal with. They are always smiling. They are always laughing and joking. My son is rough on clothes, so often I will come in with things and not even realize I have a huge tear in them or a giant stain, they are super sweet about it, and never make me feel like I'm bringing them something that is subpar. Instead, we discuss how he is a bit rougher on clothes and my daughter is. Their selection is amazing. And the way they mark things down is great. Since the prices are so good, and my daughter grows so quickly, We really enjoy coming in and trying on everything in her size. The bargains are great. Often there are completely new things on the shelves, with tags still on them! Bonus: now that my daughter and I are about the same size, when she buys a particularly wonderful shirt, I will often wear it as well. So I don't think of this is just children's consignment trading. As a petite person, I can wear some of the junior things myself! But it's more than a good quality clothing at a fair price. These women, over the last 10 years or so, start to seem like family. My daughter will come out of the dressing room and they will say "oh my goodness. She looks so great. She has grown so much." They are not just trying to sell something. They will be super honest if an item is not right for her, and say "that's just a little too big for her. It's falling off the shoulders a little bit. " If we are buying clothes for traveling we will discuss where we're going, and often show them pictures of big events that we have or of our travels. I feel like I know every one of them and that we are always welcomed by name with a warm hello. Other than underwear, and her school uniform, every stitch of clothing that my daughter has worn in the last 10 years has been bought from this store. Note: it is FULL of clothes. So it may seem a bit crowded with stuff, but they racks are well marked, and I love the fact that the the place is bursting with clothing. That means more items to look through and more bargains to find! read more

This may be a shop for children's items, but don't even try to take a stroller inside. The aisles are small, tight and cramped. Racks are overcrowded and too packed to shop. Prices are high for used kids stuff (and I totally understand that some things are high end brands, but really high for even those things). Overall, I was quite disappointed. read more

Like any other consignment shop, the offerings are hit-or-miss, but I consistently find a good assortment of quality clothing. I do see more of the "lesser" name brands (Target, Walmart) now than in years past, but if it's in good shape, I don't particularly care. I watch for markdowns as I've never believed in paying any retailer's (or consignor's) full price. Their sidewalk sales can yield great finds. CTP is a solid option, and I've recommended it to a number of friends and acquaintances. I strongly disagree with some of the negative reviews posted. I do occasionally see items that I think must have slipped past the staff on a busy day, but that's infrequent. I sell my better-quality and less-used items here and give away the rest to friends or charities. it's a solid way to pay for the next season's clothing! I find the staff to be pleasant and helpful. I do agree it's a jam-packed store, so bring your well-behaved kids or those who don't need to be tethered or in a stroller, and the others might need to stay home! read more
