Switched to UNMC & then Methodist, where two different pulmonologists ordered MRIs confirming permanent (& inoperable) damage to my lungs. I scheduled three appointments with him (pro tip: every slot is open, all the time--that's a sign) and each visit was basically a live-action version of being on hold with customer service. My experience: Total face time over three visits? About 20 minutes, if you count him staring at his computer and occasionally remembering I was in the room. Medical advice? A lot of world-class shrugging, half-hearted "I think we're okay," and his all-time favorite catchphrase: "Insurance won't cover it." (Translation: he won't even try to order anything that might help.) My health concerns? Decades of high-risk lung exposure, family history, bad cholesterol, borderline diabetes, low testosterone--Dr. Uto's reaction: "Eh, come back in a year" Want a PET scan? "Insurance won't cover it." Want your A1C checked more than once a year? "Insurance won't cover it." Want a doctor who listens, cares, or does literally anything besides checking boxes? LOL, "insurance won't cover it." I have…read morebeen seeing Dr. Schroeder for many years and could not be more pleased with his new office and staff. Staff at doctor's offices are a big thing for me. The person answering the phone, scheduling your appointment and greeting you when you come in, say a lot about a company so why should healthcare be any different? The ones who answer the phone and greet you at this office are amazing. My favorite is Jeff. He is so nice, jokes around with me and is easy to talk to. I don't dread calling in there because I know he will take care of me. Then once I go in, it is always a very pleasant experience. Dr. Schroeder is so wonderful. He listens to you, sympathizes and also makes sure to educate you on the whys, dos and don'ts of things. He doesn't make you feel bad about yourself for things, but rather tries to offer solutions and education on how you can change those things yourself or tips on how to help it. Seriously if you are looking for a new primary, he is the one for you and his fabulous office staff will take care of you like one of their own!
