Quick shout out to owner Zvi of Chimichurri Charcoal Kitchen in Lawrence for top notch customer service in correcting a mistake. Yesterday, we ordered takeout for 20+ people, placing and paying for the order in the afternoon and requesting a pickup three hours later. Upon arrival, the employees had not even begun preparing our food. Mistakes happen -- but when they do, the establishment should take responsibility. Unfortunately, the employee did the opposite, suggesting it was not their fault at all and I could either wait or leave. Zvi immediately noticed what was taking place and rushed over to me. He began by apologizing, stating that it was absolutely the restaurant's responsibility for having forgotten the order, and that the employee's response was unacceptable and would be corrected. He then offered a very respectable discount from our bill, told me the order would be finished in five minutes, sincerely asked forgiveness and requested that we please return in the future. Of course, we will. The food was made promptly and was, as always, absolutely delicious. Zvi's customer service is top notch. We will return soon! read more

Disappointed is the understatement of the year! I pass by this place almost on a daily basis and decided to try it. Everything on the menu looked so good. We opted on the beef ribs, string beans, corn; second order chimichurri wrap with sweet potato fries on the side some roasted/grilled pineapples and sweet plantains. First off, EVERYTHING WAS COLD, like there isn't a stove or grill right there in the kitchen. The ribs were tough, the string beans and corn UNDERCOOKED.. there is absolutely no flavor to anything (like they've never heard of a seasoning in their life). Bit into the wrap and swore I broke a tooth (WHY ARE THERE BONES IN THE WRAP?!) the sweet potato fries YUCK. If you've read this far you can guess the gist of it is the food isn't good. I worked near by and must I say the food here is incredible. It was so tasty and fresh. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants some good charcoal chicken. The parking is decent and the prices are reasonable. The staff is nice and this place does get busy. Please call your order beforehand so you do not have to wait too long. They advertise as kosher, refuse to use the local Va'ad supervision, and even brought a frivolous lawsuit against the well-established local kosher supervision service. Beware: the owner has lied about the kosher level of certain bread products. Do not dare to ask for sauce, as they will demand you to walk back to your table and get your Social Security card, marriage license and the receipt. I fell in love with this place! My husband and I were in the area, and decided to have lunch here. He explain he heard so many rave reviews about the food from friends. She explained they have a special 1/2 chicken grilled or fried and 2 choices of sides. My husband went for grilled with rice&beans and sweet potatoes. I had the fried chicken with veggies and plantains. We always like to get opposite so we can try each other's dish. I couldn't wait to bite into it. That fried chicken was just fried to prefection! Crispy and juicy, all that you would want. The grill chicken had plenty of flavor as well. We enjoyed everything and I have no complaints. Food was just hands down delicious. Wow! This place just gets better and better every time we go! Now they have a 16 Oz. Rib Steak that's as good as any steak house. And the the thing costs $25 with 2 side dishes! Alright! So first off it's a nice location....to walk to...if you live in lawrence or cedarhurst or visiting the conveniently located plaza that's directly across. In regards to the time to go there I would suggest earlier than later, reason being that sometimes the food isn't as great tasting later on during the day. But that's expected give the high traffic they receive. Now I'm going to be a bit bias because I went there during the evening, I've never had food from a place that caters to the Jewish community, and was rushing. I got the Portuguese rice bowl and it was quite bland. I ended up mixing my food with leftovers from what my family got. Their garlic wedges are delicious when fresh. I was on my way to Taco Bell with my family and my friends and decided to give this place a try since I had been ordering online from this place. I spent quadruple of what I would of spent at a Taco Bell and its a shame to say I would have rather give Taco Bell my money over this place. Will never go back to this place and will never recommend anyone to come here. The cashier has a nasty attitude like her life stinks and feels she needs to take it out on customers. It's... okay . Smells more seasoned then it tastes. Really disappointed since the smell is what made me try it. The wings need to be de-feathered, the bird could practically fly. A little, non-descript hole-in-the-wall place on a busy street, you'll miss it if you aren't looking for it. Chicken kabobs are good. They never have any beef at lunch and only one type of beef after 5 PM. Many things on their menu they are out of, so they do have very limited choices. Wings are small and so are the 1/2 and whole chickens. They are more like large Cornish game hen sizes. They also over-pepper, so we have to ask for no pepper next time. The possibilities are endless if they have the right management and the owners have the right attitudes. The non-owner workers are very pleasant. I really had high hope for this because I really enjoy chimichurri. As I was paying for my food the man that was collecting the money reach over the food to collect money from a customer and dropped the money all over the food that was to be served to me and all the other patrons. While all of his coworkers (about 3 ither people standing next to him) did nothing about it. Furthermore, When I walked in I noticed only 2 people had their hair tied back.
