Over the series of experiences I've had, it was strangely somewhere in the middle. The positive side was that they were incredibly responsive. The customer service is on point and the attitude of their management is definitely a class act. I have no doubt this is a major driver for their most positive reviews and deservedly so. The part where I struggle is the mixed experiences from the various technicians that had come to one of my properties that had an ant, cockroach, and spider problem. The initial $160 was a bit higher than I expected, but a small price that I was willing to pay to rid the property of creepy crawlers. Jason and Servando (sp) extremely brief in their initial run of the place. Even after their treatment, I still saw plenty of spider action where it was clear were not that thorough. After explaining my situation to their staff, they assigned the manager at the time, Daniel, to come back and apply treatment the way he intended. He went nuclear with a whole host of sprays and was extremely thorough both inside and out. His work made a world of difference and there was very little bug activity for close to a year. He was thorough in his explanaition and super transparent with his approach. If every experience was this thorough I think I'd be more receptive to future service. He has unfortunately left the company. Typically they recommend treatment 3 to 4 months. The subsequent visits after my initial concerns were not charged, which I'm thankful for but should not have taken that many times just to get the desired result. It was close to $250 for carpet ant treatment, which felt out of my budget but was assured that the chemicals would be different than the standard ones used for treatment. I was presented with a 30 and 60-day warranty which is fine but not something I elected to go for this past time around. While I'm sure they've done stellar work for other households and other properties, I do wish that I was able to experience the same magic on a consistent basis.

I don't typically post negative reviews, but I'm sharing this to document our experience and to…read morehelp other homeowners make an informed decision. We live in a home built in 2021 near active construction and developed a rodent issue in the attic. After initially managing it with traps, the problem escalated when I noticed a strong odor on Monday, 4/27. We found significant droppings and urine staining in the attic, so I requested multiple estimates. Pest exclusion quotes ranged from $900-$1,850, and duct/insulation remediation ranged from $4,800-$7,800. I found Total Pest Elimination based on strong online reviews from yelp. On Wednesday, 4/29, I contacted Juan (the owner) for a written estimate. He sent Elli to inspect the attic; he attempted to locate the source of the odor and set traps but could not find the dead animal. I repeatedly followed up for the written estimate, which was not provided until the next day. My husband and I hired the company because they offered a single-scope solution, provided the lowest quote, and indicated they could start quickly. The total estimate was $6,600, and Juan stated the work would take a couple of days. Communication and scheduling were inconsistent from the start. On Thursday there was no proactive update; when I called, Juan said they would begin Friday, 5/1 at 9:00 a.m., and offered to send Elli Thursday evening to set traps. Elli arrived with Andrew, brought odor eliminators, set traps, and again searched unsuccessfully for the dead rodent. They confirmed they would start work at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. On Friday, 5/1, no one arrived at 9:00 a.m. At 9:22 a.m. I texted Juan and was told Andrew was "around the corner." Andrew arrived around 9:48 a.m. without supplies or direction and remained in the attic until about 12:30 p.m., when Juan arrived for the first time with minimal equipment (a small shop vacuum, bags, and paper to protect the entryway). Juan then requested 50% payment to purchase supplies, which had not been discussed in advance. Elli arrived after 2:00 p.m.; with limited equipment, they located and removed the dead rodent and then left. I was told they would return Saturday at 9:00 a.m. to complete the job. By this point I had paid $3,500, and I was relieved the odor was improving after the rodent was removed. A larger crew arrived Saturday and began removal work with two shop vacs, but the job was not completed. I was later told Sunday would not work, and that they would return Monday at 9:00 a.m. and finish by Tuesday at the latest. Late Sunday night (11:35 p.m.), Juan texted that he was trying to locate a machine to rent and would update me in the morning. As of Tuesday, the work still was not finished, and the team left approximately 10 large bags of old insulation at the curb despite my request to move them (my garage has been unusable throughout this process). It is now Wednesday; I have had to cancel appointments and stay home, which has disrupted my job search and daily schedule. I also want to clarify what was represented as included in the scope of work: closing all exclusions, setting traps, and returning weekly (four weeks) to remove any rodents caught. I was also told they could remove and replace all contaminated insulation and, once removed, sanitize the attic floor. That capability was not there. Juan arrived with only a small shop vacuum and suggested the crew shovel insulation out. He hired contract workers who said the proper machine and appropriate PPE were required, and there was no plan or containment (plastic sheeting), even though our attic access is inside the house--not in the garage--so containment is essential. The insulation "upgrade" conversation was also misleading: I was told I would need to pay an additional $1,500 to upgrade to fiberglass, but the insulation already in my attic was fiberglass (R-38). I asked for the same R-value to be replaced, but what was brought was the cheapest material available and did not match what we agreed to. As of May 7, I am out $3,500 and left with a major mess: dust throughout my house and garage, and my garage is still unusable. The workers who were in my home worked hard over the week, but they lacked leadership, proper supplies, and clear direction. I terminated Total Pest Elimination on May 6 and now must hire someone else to clean up and complete the attic work. Juan may do well with basic pest trapping but based on my experience I would be extremely cautious about hiring this company for exclusion or insulation/remediation work.

This week alone, I have rearranged my schedule and waited at home on three separate days with little to no proactive communication. Every update has required me to reach out first, and when I do, I often feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff simply by asking for information. Considering the significant investment I've made and the service expectations outlined during the sales process and in the agreement, I expected a much higher level of professionalism. Clear communication, confirmed appointment times, and follow through should be standard, not something the customer has to chase down. I do want to recognize Brandon because he has been great when it comes to the actual service. He has been professional, knowledgeable, and thorough while at my home. My frustration is not with him. It's with the overall communication and scheduling process. I simply wish the communication from the office was as proactive and reliable as the service Brandon provides. The work itself may ultimately resolve the issue, but the overall customer experience has been frustrating. Clients should not have to repeatedly follow up just to find out if a technician is coming. I hope Critter Control improves its communication and customer service because the current experience has fallen well below my expectations.

I hired Critter Control Houston to inspect my elderly mother's home for suspected animal activity…read morein the vents. After the inspection, they proposed a full sanitization and vent-blocking package -- totaling $1,700 -- citing signs of rodent activity. After paying and having the work begin, we were informed that there were no animals, no droppings, and no need for any sanitization. The material in the vents was coming from an exhaust fan that had caught fire -- something that was never identified or mentioned during the initial inspection, and only discovered when the crew arrived to do the work. To summarize: they missed an obvious burned exhaust fan during inspection, misdiagnosed it as animal activity, sold an unnecessary $1,700 biohazard sanitization package, and never caught their error until work had already been contracted. When I called the office to address this, I spoke with Jessica, who was not helpful. Rather than acknowledging the mistake, I was told the company feels they "went above and beyond." Charging $1,700 for unnecessary services based on a missed diagnosis is not going above and beyond. I chose this company specifically because of the positive reviews and because I needed someone trustworthy to care for a vulnerable family member. That trust was not honored. I would not recommend Critter Control Houston to anyone, and I urge others -- especially those hiring on behalf of elderly relatives -- to get a second opinion before agreeing to any services.

They warned me that they were a little more expensive than other companies, but they have a lifetime guarantee and fully stand by their work. I told them to come by to get a quote anyways. Jeff arrived today and investigated my entire house. I was fully expecting him to tell me there were rats and that he would have to do all this work in my home. Instead, he told me that he didn't find any evidence of rodents. I was a bit distracted with a conference call at work, but he told me he was in no rush as I was the last appointment of the day. As I was finishing up my call, he inspected the exterior of my home to see if there were any opportunities for rodents to get inside. He was so thorough that he even used his ladder to take a closer look at the roof. He let me know that my house was pretty well sealed (from previous owners), but there were a some minor spots that may require sealing. He was very honest and told me that it may be cheaper to have a roofer do the work. We then went up to the attic, and Jeff spent a good amount of time educating me on signs of rodent activity. He even went the extra mile to take a look at the HVAC ducting and water heater to find the source of the noise I've been hearing. While we ultimately couldn't get to the root of the problem, it was very reassuring to learn that it wasn't due to rodents. I absolutely commend Jeff for the thoroughness in his inspection, and honesty in his assessment. He has earned my trust, and subsequently my future business. I highly recommend reaching out to Omega if you have any suspicions of animal activity in your home.
