Food was tasty and hot. Good choices for a Buffett. Very clean and a good price. Will come back.

This is my very first review of a restaurant in my hometown, and I wouldn't want to do any other place. China Cafe has been in Eastland for as long as I can remember. I have seen this restaurant and staff been disrespected, taken advantage of, and mocked throughout the years because of the slight language and cultural barrier. Even with all of this going on for years, China Cafe continues to stand against it all and continue to provide amazing food to the community at an unbeatable price. China Cafe has a huge assortment of food that caters to anyone's tastebuds. They have amazing appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They have always been consistent and so caring for their customers. Even when you show up a couple minutes before they close, they are sure to cook up anything fresh if you are craving it. Tonight, they literally brought an entire new tray of banana pudding just for me. In high school, I always came every Friday with my friends for lunch; we always wanted to end our week on a high note and I can not imagine any other place better than China Cafe. Obviously, I can not rave about this place enough! It is so underrated, and as an Asian American myself, I am so impressed that China Cafe has not only survived but thrived with Asian Cuisine in a tiny Texas town regardless of the insistent and horrible discrimination and micro aggressions they face every day. Even though I have tried multiple other Chinese buffet restaurants around the country, nothing has ever beaten China Cafe. There is something about the food that makes it irresistible! food wasnt tasty at all. kids plate 7.50 adult plate 7.94. what a price difference for 3 year olds

We have been here a few times. They had FROG LEGS one time and we were shocked to see that. This place is RUN DOWN - ghetto style. Torn vinyl seats in booths. Food not hot. Some foods like ground beef egg rolls ( never saw such a thing before ) housed in same pan with spring rolls. Clearly, Texas has no food safety inspection system. This place would have been closed years ago for any number of obvious violations. Be sure to look at the photos I took in the ladies room. OMG! read more

I have eaten the buffet and I can always find something that I would enjoy. I live in Cisco and love New China which is closed hopefully not forever. So I ordered garlic shrimp, fried rice. Which at New China comes with wonder vegetables and mushrooms. What I got was white rice and small shrimp with onions and not garlic sauce. Very disappointed. read more

The atmosphere is nice and laid back. The food is awesome and it really rocks my mouth. One of my favorite things to eat is General Tao's chicken that's just lip smack-in good right there! They do have some great shrimp dishes, and I eat those up pretty quick. Somehow I do manage to keep my girlish figure :) When I'm visiting my folks this, is definitely where I go. I always save some room for their deserts, which are mighty tasty. I go there to eat and the eating is good. read more

Terrible. No other way to describe this place. People in Eastland County have nothing much to compare it to. I think they're just overjoyed to be outdoors with other people. No A/C in central Texas during high summer. Fans blowing dusty air all over everyone, spreading COVID, no doubt from table to table. Food is sad. Terribly sad. read more

If it's wrapped, it's greasy. It could be described as an Oriental chicken joint with 1 pork dish, 1 (very tough and stringy) beef dish, and a couple of seafood entrees. All of the Chinese restaurant owners I know would rather eat at McDonald's as here. Thank goodness I have better choices at home. read more

Food is decent most of the time. Sometimes the chicken can be a little hard, but they make up for it with their AMAZING ice cream!!! I usually go here a few times a month and there isn't normally a bad variance of quality. They have a lot of options including shrimp, frog legs, SALMON, catfish, etc. read more

Great on sundays after church, good for carry out, not as great other times unless it is busy. Then the food is fresh! But I think this is just the catch 22 about buffets! read more

We enjoy the China Star as a family, if we are in Eastland and ask the kids where they want to eat, it is usually unanimous, "Chinese restaurant!" Not fancy but good, filling food, pretty consistent quality and buffet is always well kept. Staff and owners are pleasant and always helpful to us. No complaints about service, never been displeased. Don't miss the chicken skewers or the black pepper shrimp, and love their seasame chicken! read more

The last 3 times I have been something has been wrong and they don't seem to care. 2 times I ordered the peanut butter chicken... both times burnt. Went back this week and ordered sesame chicken and soup. The soup was horrible and the chicken taste like it was sitting on buffet all day. It seems like the food has suffered. read more

I will never go here again, the food is ok it's the people running it that is awful, there is the owners wife who yells pretty much the whole time we are there an when she gives you your change pretty much throws it to you, I watched a lady put a tip on the table an the guy who was clearing the table took the tip an said no an picked it up an threw it in her purse, we get up to the counter to pay an there is a tip jar so we assume we leave tips there instead so we drop in a tip to the jar that clearly says 'tips' on the jar an he freaks out an says nooooo no tip an we look over an the lady is snickering at us, why on earth is there a tip jar if tips are refused? If that is their custom then fine but a jar that says tips yet he yells noooo tip? One lady who worked there would yell if we didn't leave a tip. Very confusing an they are very rude, it used to be owned by the sweetest couple an ever since they left it has gone downhill. This owners wife will even yell at customers an I hear this from several people, the only nice person there is the owner an I hardly see him. I had a friend who stopped in for a to go order an they opened his box at the counter an frowned at him like he did something wrong, they are just not good at customer service, will be going to a near by town for chinese food. read more

This is a Chinese buffet (lunch, dinner, weekends) and is owned by a Chinese family. It has been here for more than 5 years now and is going strong. They have a great shrimp selection, and the food always seems fresh. It is just as good if not better than a lot of the buffets in big cities! read more
