A small hole in the wall Chinese restaurant with surprisingly good food. I found this place on Yelp and it was only a mile or so from the hotel I was staying in. Since this was my first visit to this restaurant, I'd ordered something simple. And was I surprised by how good the food taste. The roast pork egg roll tasted like it was just prepared by hand and tasted good. The egg drop soup was hot and also tasted good. I like the addition of peas and green onions. And the pork fried rice was also delicious and I do not think that I left a grain of rice in the container. If I am back in this area again, I will stop and order again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of vegetarian options on this menu! The steamed veggie dumplings were inexpensive at $4.50 and yummy. My mom's Buddhist delight was not just a fresh assortment of veggies but included lots of fried tofu, too. My sweetie liked her shrimp w mixed veggies. I was excited to see General Tso's tofu on the menu, but the sauce was a little too sweet with hardly any veggies. It was good, but I also wished the tofu was breaded. Stopped in here to grab takeout. Ordered beef and broccoli, general tso, and sweet and sour chicken combos. The lady said 25 minutes and when I arrived my order was ready. The egg rolls were one of the best I've ever had. I had the s&s chicken and it was good. The fried rice was yummy and the chicken wasn't overcooked at all. I was told the general tso was good too and satisfying. Our friend said the beef and broccoli had "no flavor" but she ate it all, so I have my doubts! They also had crab Rangoon which was apparently good too. Overall good experience and we'll be back! read more

I'm usually very happy with my to go order from china cafe. My beef and broccoli was good, but I decided to order chicken wings also. "BAD MISTAKE." When I opened the bag and looked at them. They appeared to look like they were not fresh, but re-fried. But I decided to taste one. Ugh, the inside was old and brown. I called them and told her about the chicken and she proceeded to tell me that they don't refry anything and the temperature that they cook in. She also informed me that they don't give refunds. Very simplistic Chinese styled restaurant no frills! Clean and well kept, Friendly staff, and very efficient. We were on the hunt to get something quick so we just figured this looked good! I ordered the Large Chicken w/Black Bean Sauce and the wife ordered A smaller portion of Shrimp w/Black Bean Sauce! Was impressed with the size of portion and the amount of chicken and vegetables! Everything was cooked perfect and our meals were hot and right out of the wok! Really enjoyed their black bean sauce as it actually had whole black beans! 2 meals for under $20 bucks this may become one of our favorites. This was a great place to get food. I loved the bourbon chicken, rice and lo mein. It is one of the best places we have tried around the area. The only issue was the sesame chicken we didn't think was that one maybe a different flavoring but it was all right not the end of the world. I found this place by chance while traveling. Better than the typical Chinese carry out. I ordered "Happy Family." It was made fresh and I ate in. The food was very good, served on an actual plate and the place was clean. Service was reasonably fast and not unfriendly but too busy to be "extra friendly." Not a negative for me. China Cafe - "Happy Family" - Chinese Near Me - New Cumberland, Pennsylvania

China Cafe is a hidden gem in the strip mall between Giant and Subway, not to be confused with the Aroma buffet, which is around the corner in a different building with the Family Dollar and DQ. It is my favorite strip-mall Chinese joint. Cheap eats for lunchtime, most of the lunch combos are under $5 and include a soda. They serve jasmine tea in their little teapot, so be sure not to pass it up. If you have special orders, don't be afraid to ask. Having gone there so many times, the owner now knows that I want a pair of chopsticks, plain rice (in lieu of the fried rice that comes with the lunch special) and extra spicy. Everything off the menu is great, and it is not cooked until you order it. My favorite is Hunan Pork, extra spicy. The Ginger Chicken is also excellent, I've never seen the pickled sushi ginger used in Chinese cooking before, but it tasted really great. The decor is typical of a strip mall Chinese joint, a few booths and tables, light-up sign with pictures... you know how it looks before you even go there so don't expect something special until you take your first bite. They probably do more take-out business, but I recommend you eat in, so you get it hot out of the wok. They'll bring it to you so steaming hot, it'll look like a little TMI coming out of the kitchen. The food is probably worthy of a 5-star review. I have to give 4-stars for ambiance. The place is clean and nice but, it is what it is - a strip mall Chinese place. It's not fancy. It's a great place for lunch with co-workers, but you might want to take your best client somewhere more impressive (unless, of course, you know she will be impressed by great food). You would probably drive right on past this little place if you didn't know it was there. Listen up, Yelpers, the China Cafe is great! The best Chinese take-out in the area. It's a small, family run place. I've eaten here more times than I can count and it's always consistently delicious. As other reviewers have mentioned it's never greasy and everything is fresh. I am in love with their hot and sour soup. A bonus, it's vegetarian with tons of yummy tofu cubes and the exact amount of heat. They do have quite a few vegetarian offerings for entrees as well. I am in LOVE with their Singapore mei fun (which is not vegetarian, but delicious)! All the vegetables and protein in any dish are cooked with skill. They never have over cooked anything I or my boyfriend has ordered. As for the decor, it's a bit bland and generic but clean. As for the staff, they can be a bit short sometimes, but they are always busy and it's always the same three people in there. I swear they never take a day off. I've never experienced them being rude, just very down to business. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to any of the other Chinese eateries in the area. read more

Worst customer service I have EVER received! Woman behind the counter became combative when I told her that they gave the wrong food. She insisted that I ordered what they made for me(Chicken and Broccoli). I told her that I ordered Shrimp and Broccoli and she argued several minutes and would not make the Shrimp and Broccoli. When I told her I was leaving and she could throw away the food she became a little more interested in accommodating me. This is the second time they have messed up my order and were unwilling to correct it. Maybe there is a language barrier or something, but she really needs some customer service skills. If you're a vegan or vegetarian the ma po tofu and the general tso tofu is amazing! The portions are big so I always get an extra meal out of my left overs.
