My boyfriend and I been wanting to try this place since we live close by and seen they have a $10 lunch special. The cashier was friendly and the environment was.... Very vintage. It's not an upscale buffet whatsoever but we were just excited to try the food. Well the overall food experience was just disappointing. Lo mein noodles had no flavor, rice noodles were ICE COLD, honey chicken/chicken and broccoli/ general tso chicken/ pepper chicken was lackluster and straight mushy. The chicken wings and dumplings tasted good but yet again the dumplings were COLD. My boyfriend was disappointed that there were no fresh fruit, he said they were just straight canned fruits and no taste. We were just overall disappointed. I don't know how this place is even still in business! I ordered China Chef from DoorDash and didn't realize it was the same place. It's too far from my house for delivery but apparently I was wrong. Everything in this place tastes like it came from a can. The sauces, the soups. The ingredients themselves seem fresh but once you pour garbage sauce all over it, it gets inedible. They put extremely large chunks of fake crab in the Happy Family and the smallest frozen shrimp. The egg drop soup smelled like rotten eggs upon opening, closed it immediately. It was a crazy loud yellow unlike any egg drop soup I've ever seen. The hot and sour soup had managed to congeal on the ride. The lo mien was awful with what I can assume was lettuce in it because it definitely wasn't cabbage. The crunchy wontons for the soup were burnt and also somehow soggy. The literal only edible thing I got was the crab wontons. The menu said 4 and I got 10 so at least I didn't starve. Desperate for a sit down place.in Newnan, we came here as a family hoping to cure our Chinese food cravings. The buffet is what you expect with the standard offerings,but the food wasn't very hot temperature wise and it was not very flavorful or spice robust. The waitress didn't come to our table much for our drink refills, and it was during waiting for them, that I noticed that there were what I thought were fruitflies in the windows. My family member told me there much like the bugs you find in flour or grain bins. That got me thinking... Anyway, we won't be back. I've rarely seen such an extensive Chinese buffet. If I recall correctly, there were 4 long steam tables, each with at least 12 pans of food. I resisted the urge to try one of everything; restricted myself to Beef Pepper Steak with Onions, two soups, one Egg Roll and two dessert confections. The Beef Pepper Steak was very good. If we ever return, I'll be sure to have more of that. Same for the Hot & Sour Soup. Very good, with homemade crispy noodles. Also the Egg Roll. Fairly typical Egg Roll, which is to say good. Unfortunately, I could not find any packets of Hot Mustard. I should have asked. I wish I could say the same for the Wonton Soup. Very bland. Adding salt did not help. I was unable to finish my small bowl of perhaps 2 cups. Desserts: Quite an array of confections, in a separate area from the steam tables. I had about 4 Macaroons and 1 slice of Tiramisu. Not knocking my socks off, but good for a small bite of sweetness. I was a guest in a party of 4. China Chef Buffet would not be my first choice for Chinese in the Newnan area, but I'd willingly go again as a guest. The store was reasonably clean, although the ladies' room was a bit trashy. This used to be the best Chinese restaurant in Newnan. Under the new ownership it has gone downhill fast. The food on the buffet has no flavor. Their fried foods taste and look like they don't clean or change their fryer oil. The won tons are over fried and stale. They don't put out homemade hot mustard sauce or wasabi sauce. I just moved here from out of state and have been trying all the chinese places to find my "Go To" and let me tell you this is it. Entrance is dirty, floor tiles are cracked and overall appearance of outside is definitely a preview of what to expect on the inside... Bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. This was the worst and it seems to be a mom and pop so I don't take that lightly. The only good part about the Buffet was the fruit. I went here for the first time for the dinner buffet. The best part was the service. The owners are really friendly, greet you and seat you immediately upon entering. No wait. They smile and are kind and pleasant and this alone made it an enjoyable experience for me. As far as the food, it was mediocre. I found the flavor to be lacking a little bit, and I tried different things but nothing jumped out at me as being exceptional. It wasn't bad though. The deserts were just ok. The atmosphere is descent. The building was somewhat old but I still liked it because it is in an uncrowded part of Newnan and it wasn't busy and was pretty quiet. There were a few people in there but not being crowded always makes for a more enjoyable experience. In conclusion, it was worth it mainly because of the warm, cozy environment that exists due to the owners being welcoming and pleasant, mainly the husband. As of Oct. 2017 I see they have a health score of C. I hadn't noticed that before I suggested to friends that we go here for lunch yesterday while passing through Newnan. The place seemed rather dingy, thought maybe it could be because it's an old building but the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. So the food, if you don't really care & just want basic run of the mill Chinese food for cheap w/ mass quantities, you'll probably be very happy with this place. This is my favorite restaurant! All of their food is excellent and always fresh. The employees are very sweet and you will always be seated the second you walk in the door. It is very cheap to eat here for lunch and for dinner. Lunch is $5.49 and dinner is $7.49 per person. Their to-go plates are $4 a pound and I stuff my box full and only pay about $5. I eat here at least 3 times a week. My only complaint is that they don't have a variety of sushi. They only have a California roll.
