owner is a rip off, he chargers different prices on his carry out, when he puts your food in the bag is when he decides how much to charge based on how much food he thinks you are taking. three times in and same carry out order and three different prices. all three in the last 30 days, 1st time 16.00 - 2 time 17.00 and 3 rd time, three days ago 20.00...food is only fair, over priced....Barboursville has a better Chinese restaurant and buffet is only 7.99..... read more

Absolutely incredible- that's not the just routine dining for buffet style Chinese. I've ate Chinese all over North America and have never ever had a meal that was this good. We've been going there for 30 years. Changed owners a couple of times. Lately, seemed greatly improved. New layout. food was all hot and fresh. Buffet tables were spotlessly clean and well tended. All of the soups and entrees were good. read more

Is there a rating less than 1? It was HORRIBLE!!! The food was not fresh and barely qualified as warm. One of the reasons my daughter likes to eat there is for the crab legs, which they didn't have. We were the only guests in the restaurant, but still had a difficult time getting attention from the staff. They seemed to be involved in some kind of argument, but since I don't speak their language I can only guess. Going there has been a super reward (birthdays, graduations, etc) for years & I WILL NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN & WILL TELL EVERYONE POSSIBLE TO DO THE SAME!!!! read more

China Chef's dinner buffet is excellent. For a total of $8.95 per person I'm sure I'll return again with my family!! The Hot & Sour soup was so good! I liked how there was a nice kick to it! The Kung Pao Chicken was also delicious. There were generous amounts of chicken in the dish. I liked how the dish was spicy and very enjoyable! Other info: Restaurant is clean! The first Chinese Buffet I've been to (and I've been to a lot since I travel weekly) where every thing I put on my plate tasted good! The only thing keeping it from 5 star was the temperature of some of the items. The place was clean and the employees were very friendly. The Japanese chicken and Master Chef Chicken were my favorites. read more

They'll earn a star for an easy phone order, an on-time pickup with friendly service, and decent crab Rangoon, but that's it. This was my first visit, and I ordered takeout, but I don't think I've ever had food quite as bad. My wife and I literally took one bite each and threw the rest away. The dish in question is Gen. Tsao chicken, an American Chinese food staple. Crunchy, spicy, and sweet, all balanced out by some steamed broccoli and rice. That is not what we got. The food is bland, a lot of the food on the buffet was actually cold, restaurant was not clean including but not limited to the plates and cups, servers were slow on drink refills despite the restaurant being nearly empty. We love sushi, but you couldn't pay me to try the sushi from their buffet so I cannot speak to that. All the other "hot" food was a completely flavorless Americanized version of Chinese food. Our visits to China Chef are always disappointing at best. Tonight was the worst. After being seated, we discovered there was practically NO food on the buffet. Seriously! NO FOOD! And they were still going to be open for another hour! A quick inventory revealed one crab leg, about three eggrolls, a like number of Rangoon, very little soup, two pieces of sushi, and perhaps six shrimp, if you dug thru the ice to reach them. I am working close by and stopped in for quick lunch. They have a large clean dining room plenty of room for a large group. They were offering a lunch buffet for $6.95 with taxes, so I made a plate to go. The food was very appealing and I was happy with my choices. I would eat here again if in the area. Zero stars. I ate here today along with a large group of people. Myself a long with several others got dirty plates from the bar. One plate had a straw paper stuck on it and one plate had the lid to icecream on it. I was disgusted. My friend had something orange inside her cheese cake . My daughter and I were going to eat and I was going to take her to Taste of Asia. She asked if it was a buffet and I told her it wasn't. She said she wanted to go to a buffet so we went to Chine Chef instead. She put three pieces of sushi on her plate along with a few other types of food. She started on the sushi first and ended up only eating one and a half pieces of sushi. I ate too but didn't eat any sushi. The meal went fine, we paid and left. Fast forward to 0600 the next morning and my daughter is throwing up and having diarrhea. The nausea and diarrhea she was experiencing was happening at very frequent intervals so much so that by 0900 I called her doctor and they worked her in at 11. They had to rehydrate her and the only source of her nausea had to have been the sushi. While there are signs on the buffet about the risk of eating sushi, I would think that an 8 year old girl could eat one and a half pieces of sushi and not have severe nausea. Because of this experience, my daughter and I will NOT be back to China Chef. read more

My boyfriend and I eat here every time he comes in to visit. I have been going here since I was young. Their food is always delicious and their sushi is the best. Their wait staff always keeps up with your drinks and plates. The only complaint i would have would be their desserts. Its always the same thing and they aren't very good...at all.
