Hi everyone. Hope you are well. I've got a story to share about a local restaurant. I ordered pickup at Golden Wok in Nitro, WV today. I brought my youngest daughter with me into the restaurant to get the food. My daughter is non-verbal autistic and makes audible sounds on a regular basis. She was doing this in the restaurant as I was paying and getting our food. The young man taking my order stared at my daughter, which is a common thing. When I gave him my credit card, he didn't look at me. He continued to stare at my daughter. He then addressed me. "Sir; when you come to restaurant, can you not bring her in? She is making random sounds." I didn't say anything for a few seconds. Then he said the same thing again. I let him know that she won't be back, that I won't be back, and I'll do my best to make sure that l tell as many people as possible about this so that they won't get food from Golden Wok in Nitro, WV. The young man didn't say anything, then gave me my receipt to sign. I got my food and left. I'm still pretty angry. When I returned home, I called Golden Wok in Nitro, WV and asked to speak to a manager. I got a manager and let them know what happened, asked if this was a restaurant policy to not allow non-verbal autistic people who make "random sounds" into the restaurant, and, if so, would make sure to inform as many people as I can. The person I talked to on the phone said that is it not a policy to discriminate, apologized, said it would be addressed with staff, and would check with the owner if this was indeed a restaurant policy. I haven't received a call from the owner yet and it's been over an hour since my phone call. I'm don't think I'm getting that call. So if you're still reading this, im asking you to not order food from Golden Wok in Nitro, WV. I will not be ordering from them again. Have a great rest of your weekend. read more

Golden Wok is great! I am so sorry that I didn't get pictures but we were both hungry and everything looked and smelled amazing so we just started eating. The fresh Shrimp Chow Mein was so incredible that we were fighting over it, lol. The Beef broccoli was delicious and the sweet and sour shrimp was beyond yummy. My husband loves anything that's stir fried. He also likes sweet & sour chicken or shrimp. I am hooked on vegetable or shrimp lo mein. We order the small size of whatever we want and always have enough to take home for dinner or lunch the next day. The owner is always making suggestions for us to try new items and we sometimes do. My husband can't eat real spicy foods and I can't eat anything with hot peppers. The chef forgot about our spicy food problem and made my husband's chicken dish with the house spicy sauce. I took it home and tried to rinse the sauce off but the spices had cooked through the meat. He decided to stick with shrimp and vegetables, or sweet and sour chicken or shrimp. The owner apologized and offered my husband a small order of shrimp and vegetables to replace the other order. We were satisfied with that and have no complaints about food or service there! read more

We ordered Golden Wok tonight for the first time for dinner and it was the BEST choice. After some sub-par experiences at other local Chinese places (that had previously been pretty consistently good), my expectations honestly weren't high. Since I've been craving crab rangoon for weeks, I decided to go for it. After tonight's order, Golden Wok is definitely our new go-to for Chinese take out! I had the chicken and broccoli combo, which comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. All of it was top-notch! I have zero complaints. My husband had general tso chicken with white rice. He said it was amazing. We also got an order of crab rangoon and they were the best I've had in years. One thing that really put this experience over the top was being able to order online. I appreciate being able to browse the whole menu, see the prices, and add notes if needed. It's a much better experience for me than ordering over the phone. They are not friendly toward children that have autism and are non verbal. If you have a child with special needs that may make "random sounds" please know they will ask you to not bring them. Avoid this place!! There are plenty of other places to eat in the area. read more

The food is the best chicken I have ever tasted. the service is great and fast. I go here as least 1 time a week.

This is the BEST place for Chinese! Staff is friendly, and food is always Hot and fresh! We have never received a bad meal here.

Everything I have eaten is delicious!! When ever I am in Nitro I always plan to visit. Very nice people. They are always happy to see you !! I have had the buffet and I have ordered off the menu. I enjoyed both. read more

The food is delicious delivery was kinda slow. I had to called to see when my order would be here. The woman that answered the phone said it should be there every soon. She said the food would be hot she just cooked it. She was not wrong the delivery guy came to the door as I was hanging up and the food was fresh and hot. We will definitely be back. read more

Solid little Chinese restaurant. Not gourmet by any means, but food is always good. Delivery is lightning fast. Pro tip - you can sub crab Rangoon in place of egg roll and lo mein in place of rice for no up charge. Highly recommended. read more

One of the best around with fresh and fast food. Love this place, you can usually feed a football team for less than 20 bucks. Very cheap lunch buffet as well. Chicken on a stick is a must. Comparable to Wok &Roll in Charleston. read more

Went to eat here on a Monday at 11:30 and the doors were locked- it shows that they are open online so I'm not sure why the doors would be locked- had to eat somewhere else. read more

This Chinese establishment doesn't boast a large dining area. For what it is this restaurant succeeds. The food itself has never been anything less than what I expected so if you have a taste for this cuisine then I personally think you won't be disappointed. They've never been busy on the occasions of my visits, though I usually go in the early afternoon. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There's just nothing for me to harp on here. My friends and I used to come here to eat before heading to school events. The food was always great, despite the small selection, and the people were welcoming. My family and I ate here last night. Upon arriving at around 6:30pm, we were the only ones at the restaurant. This concerned me a bit but since we had eaten the lunch buffet previously (quite a while back) we decided to go ahead and order. You order at the desk and they bring you your food. We ordered Crab Rangoon, Honey Chicken, Beef with Mushrooms and an egg roll. Everything was fresh and delicious! The crab Rangoon were light, crispy and tasty, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The other items were very good as well. The freshly made food was much better than the buffet we enjoyed previously. We didn't have a bit of leftovers! My children asked to order more. The owners were very kind and accommodating. Service was fast. We were disappointed to have to eat on styrofoam plates and with plastic utensils. And the floors needed attention. It seemed like most people got their food for take out, which I would recommend for a more enjoyable dining experience. read more
