We have been getting take out from this place for years. Recently remodeled and under new management we anticipated the food to be even better or at least the same. Sadly mistaken. We ordered general tsos chicken and orange shrimp. The sauces tasted the same. The food was fried in overused oil ( I've worked in many restaurants and my family owns one, so I'm familiar with clean oil vs used). The shrimp were very small and coated in sweet batter like a doughnut, not traditional. There was so much batter that upon opening the containers I thought they must be tiger shrimp! Sadly mistaken. But thanks for the three small broccoli crowns. The increase in prices I imagine are to cover remodeling costs, pay for nicer food containers ( don't we all want the traditional Chinese food cartons??!!)...they certainly don't seem to be for increased food quality. My niece and I went to get our nails done and we had a taste for Chinese food so we went to get some Shrimp egg foo young and Shrimp Lou main noddles. This food is so good, fresh, light, perfectly cooked and filling. You will want more, it's so good I wanted to bring some home for my family to try. I have yet to find a Chinese takeout place that I like better. If you're vegan get the V7 vegan beef and broccoli and the V12 vegan mooshu pork. It's just really good! My husband loves their general Tao chicken. My daughters could eat endless amounts of their vegetable steamed dumplings. This place is vegetarian and vegan paradise! Second time ordering. The first time my husband ordered general Tso and said it was alright, so I gave it a shot. Order Tso chicken and shrimp and I was only able to eat two shrimp due to the donut batter they used to fry this in. It was disgusting. Also I had ordered fried rice and it came with steamed rice. This place has great General Tsao Chicken - ask for it extra spicy. The delivery is usually very prompt. Since my wife and I moved to Rockville we have been hard-pressed to find a Chinese takeout place that is even half as good as China Express. If I would have rated this place while I lived in Arlington it may have received one or two stars less, but now that we don't have anything nearly as good, I can really appreciate it - five stars. We followed the reviews and decided to buy the food thee. However it was a mistake. The price is quite low, the rice is really good. But we didn't like what we ordered. We ordered beef and shrimps. The best thing about this place is their gently steamed dumplings. But the rest of the food isn't worth the terrible customer service. Once, I placed an order and called back with a minute to cancel. I was screamed at by a shrill voice, whose english was quite poor. I haven't ordered from them in a few months because of it. But, I love those gently steamed dumplings. Mom passed away a few days ago, and I was hungry for some comfort food. I decided to give them another chance. They contacted me three times in twenty minutes from when I placed the order. First, five minutes after I ordered by phone to tell me the order was ready. Then five minutes later, I got a text with the address, reminding me it was ready and what their address was. Then ten minutes later, wondering where I was. I'm pretty sure it was the same woman. It was that same shrill voice. Nagging me to get there. To make matters worse, they got the order wrong. No gently steamed dumplings. Instead, I got fried dumplings that were dried out and disgusting. Can never t recommend them highly enough. read more

Very good fresh made noodles, dumplings, and pot stickers. Wife ordered lo mein with pork which was excellent. I ordered noodle soup with roast duck which was also excellent. The worst "chinese" food I ever had. Having been in the Far Eastm I am an expert on the similarities and differences of the cuisine found there. This restaurant could not cook anything resembling Chinese food. The wonton soup was a dark salty mess with cardboard quality noddles. I've tried the other Chinese restaurants listed on Yelp near the Courthouse area and this is the best one in my opinion. The chicken lo mien and fried rice are great! Also, the crab Rangoo is awesome!! Delivery has always been pretty quick and I haven't had an order wrong yet. $13 gamble to see if this place is okay for American Chinese food. Don't judge me, I know good authentic Chinese and Asian food, but sometimes you just want the nasty stuff. Overall, I thought it was okay, which means I'll probably try another place before returning. Egg roll was super crispy, rice was dirty fried rice (dark and oily, but no visible vegetables) and the general tso's chicken was not crispy, but tastey. The lady working there was very nice. I've been so disappointed with all the local Chinese delivery I've tried during the last 10 years that I'd just about given up. Tonight, though, I decided to come to Yelp. HURRAY and THANK YOU! China Express seemed to be a favorite, and we agree - it's fantastic Chinese food, reasonably priced, and the delivery was fast. We ordered their General Tso's, which was tender, not too breaded, and delicious. The dumplings were among the best I have ever had anywhere and the sauce was richer and more delicious than any I've had previous - I'll crave them, for sure. We also ordered the Kung Pao shrimp, which was fantastic and just spicy enough, but we weren't a fan of the huge amount of bamboo shoots included with it -- don't get me wrong, there were plenty of shrimp, but if you're not a fan of bamboo shoots, ask them to hold them (as I will next time). I've thrown out all other other menus for Chinese in my area, because from now on, it's China Express! read more

I have to agree with the other reviews, that this is definitely what I think of when I think of a good Chinese Food Takeout/Delivery. We've ordered from here twice and the sesame chicken is great (we always ask for all white meat), fried dumplings are yummy, wonton soup is good, and well that's all we've gotten so far, oh and their wonton crunch noodle things are very good. After being in Atlanta for the last 6 years, where it was almost impossible to find good Chinese, let alone a delivery place, it is so refreshing to find a good one that is right around the corner. Ordered from here based on proximity to my place and the reviews on Yelp. Did not have a menu, but guessed at what the standard Chinese fare might be and were right (have a menu now). I had the hot & sour soup, which was pretty good - mushrooms, lemongrass, and tofu chunks. Also ordered a veggie & tofu dish. However, only had a little because I was full after the soup (which I think was only a small and not a large). The Lo Mein that my bf ordered did not look too greasy (didn't try it because it had meat in it), but his wonton was just that - fried wonton wrappers. OK, here's something you won't see every day. The delivery guy for China Express returned to my house 30 min. later because he realized that a pair of 20-dollar bills had stuck together and I had overpaid him by $20. So he returned it. This place is exactly what I think of when I think of Chinese takeout, down to the very standard paper menu that you're sure to recognize. I had the crab rangoon and sesame chicken. My boyfriend claimed he wasn't hungry so he didn't order anything. Luckily there was plenty of food for both of us! (And a little left over for an afternoon snack the next day.) The crab rangoon had a good filling to shell ratio, which means that there was no skimping on the the cheesy goodness. The sesame chicken wasn't as sweet as others I've had, but it had the right amount of sweetness to balance the tang, making it delicious. On top of it all, I was at the store 10-15 minutes after I ordered and my food was waiting for me. It's on the lower side of Arlington Chinese Food prices (at least compared to TNR Cafe and Tasteful delight). read more

I ordered Orange chicken, kung po beef, hot and sour soup. I got free spring rolls. The food was ok; standard Chinese takeout. Problem is I ordered delivery. Guy gets to my door and first words our of his mouth are about his tip. I didn't prepay. I had to do his job for him, you know, confirm he had the right person and the correct order, wished him a good evening... basic civility. I gave him $2 and couldn't care less what he thought about that. Next time I'll probably get my standard Chinese takeout elsewhere though. read more

For take out, this place tops the charts. I have been going here for perhaps 20 years. The food is consistently delicious The vegtables are fresh and nicely cooked - still crisp. The sauces are nice, flavorful, but not overdone. My favorite is the blackbean sause. They will make your food to order. There service is quick. And the owners are very friendly. This is the best of old arlington - a company that has been here a long time with consistently great service. read more

We have tried a few Chinese takeout restaurants in North Arlington and this one is easily our favorite. The food tastes fresh and the service is fast and friendly. We love the chicken dishes: orange chicken, general tso's, and of course sweet and sour chicken. The egg rolls are good too and aren't overly greasy. The lady was very nice and greeted me when I came in to pick up my order. She reviewed what I had ordered, but noticed something was off. I had ordered no vegetables and extra sauce. She looked at what came out of the kitchen and actually took the time to take out the broccoli and give me extra sauce. It made me really happy that she actually looked out for her customers. Prior to oct 14 2018 or so, I'd give 5 stars for food quality and taste. The quality still a 5, but I think Chef's have changed and the new chef leaves the LoMein in Shrimp lo mein quite lacking from the wonderful spices used by the prior chef. Also String Beans and Chicken the quality of food is high , but the spices again have changed to more bland. If I want bland I go to common American Chinese not Traditional Chinese like this one. The same with Chicken friend rice, was very tasty from use of spices and now more bland. Love that they don't use much salt here and leave that up to the customer. read more
