I took it to the restaurant to try to get a refund and the treatment I got was utterly gross. The two ladies there smirked and laughed about the fact and even tried to blame me. Upon entering to pick up my To-Go order, I felt the business might be struggling due to Covid. I felt good about giving them business and wanted to make sure I gave them a tip. I waited about 15 minutes longer than the 20mins they quoted, which was fine. Once I got my meal I was happy to get it home. When we opened up the items it was clear they got it wrong. The chow mein was a soup; with no noodles and nothing resembling chow mein. The sweet/sour pork was simply fried pork something. No sauce or vegetables. I called and stated they gave us the wrong items, only to be told I was wrong and argued with. I told them I would send pictures. Sent pictures attached and asked for refund of the chow mein and sweet/sour pork. No response. The wontons in my wonton soup were just bland with no filing. Moo shoo pork was unrecognizable and tasted terrible. I should have read the reviews first. By far the worst Chinese food (Americanized or traditional) I've ever had. The food was terrible. We ordered steamed dumplings to start. What came out was an unappetizing lump of doe. We asked him to take them back and to bring fried wontons. He came back with the same dumpling pan seared on one side. Terrible. We ordered orange chicken. The sauce was good. The chicken was tiny pieces surrounded by a ton of doe. Not super salty or old tasting. Food was fresh, a lot better priced than most places in Stuart. Loved the House special Lo mein (wish it had more shrimp though) but it wasn't sticky and old tasting it was so yummy. I haven't had it that great in years. First time trying this place, and the last. Ordered 2 combination dinner: General Tso's chicken and beef and broccoli. The chicken was mushy and came with mushrooms and a bunch of other random vegetables that aren't normal for that dish. My boyfriend will eat anything and one bite he was done. Worst fried rice we have ever eaten, no flavor and so dry. Got wonton soup and half of the wontons were falling apart they were so mushy and had no filling. China Star is a hidden gem in Stuart, and I'm really surprised there aren't many reviews, especially since this place has been around for a long time. This place serves some of the best Americanized Chinese food I've ever had, which is saying something since I live in NYC. Another great aspect to China Star is the value... China Star in Stuart, FL has been around for decades but it maintains consistency. I went there again this past Saturday for a late lunch and had a excellent meal. Ordering off the lunch special menu, we had wonton soup, egg drop soup, egg rolls, General Tao's Chicken, Pork Lo Mein, hot tea and two soft drinks and the bill was less than $15 before tip. It was so tasty and enjoyable, but the value was outstanding. The service was great. I kinda wish they would play that authentic Chinese music that's neat to hear when you're dining in a place like this. I used to eat here in the 80s and 90s. Went today despite some of the recent reviews. We got take out. Shrimp Lo mein and black bean chicken with fried rice. Added wonton soup and egg rolls too. All was very fresh and enjoyable. The dinning room looked clean and and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I'll be back next time I visit my parents. read more

This is my first visit to the restaurant, although I've passed on this road many times and usually saw the parking lot empty and so assumed the place wasn't open for business. I sat in a booth by a window and it was apparent that the window sill hadn't been cleaned in a while. And the window overlooking the parking lot was dirty on both sides of the glass. Not a good omen, but I went ahead and ordered the Sezchuan Triple Delight (pork, shrimp, & scallops) with the Hot & Sour Soup as a starter. The soup was nearly tasteless, had a huge amount of corn starch or other thickening agent to make the soup almost gelatinous. But the chopped scallions were fresh, which was the only taste from the soup. My vote for the soup = zero. The main dish, however, was quite tasty -- the shrimp and scallops tasted good, the vegetables (broccoli, snap peas, water chestnuts, etc.) were nice and crisp, but the sezchuan sauce had no spicy taste at all. Easily remedied with chili oil which was cheerfully suppllied. My vote for the entree = very acceptable. The service was friendly and efficient. I might go back to this restaurant if I can forget the filthy window sill. read more

I was charged 8.95. On the menu it says a quart is 9.50. When I called I was argued with that the menu was old and those prices aren't honored. Ordered three take out combo dinners. One ribs / one Lo Mein pork and one Egg Foo Yung. A small Chow Mein. Threw out all of the Lo Mein..no taste and noodles sitting around and soggy. ALL of the Won Ton soups ..out. Won tons sitting in soup all day and mushy and soggy. Egg rolls as well. Not crispy just soft and flavorless. .kinda 'chewy'. Fried rice. .no little bits of onion or any peas as usuall...must be white rice with soy sauce thrown on there. Threw all of those out. Ton's of friend rice. Awful. The Egg Foo Yung was good but the meat inside was sitting around and dried out. As for the Chow Mein. I would like to know why there was already rice mixed into it. NEVER before have I see the rice mixed into the vegtables. Gave me a feeling of suspicion as to why. . Was this a left over from somones meal ? Absolutely threw this one out. Totally unassuming in the outside and in but the food was first rate. I had a combo with orange chicken. The sauce was done with strips of orange peal that gave the dish a fine complex flavor and aroma. Service was fine. Will defiantly come back to explore the rest of the menu.
