It's also a fantastic source of frozen fish other than your bog standard cod or haddock, such as red mullet. There's a good vegetable section although if you know what you're cooking in advance some of those ingredients can be found cheaper elsewhere (most of the major supermarkets sell mooli (long white radish) and fresh ginger nowadays). If you're someone who's careful about best before dates then it's worth checking them first on some products here as they can sometimes be a bit close.

They also have cute little stationary that isn't expensive and will make great stocking stuffers closer to Christmas. We tried a couple of bakery items, including a matcha croissant and a mochi doughnut which I've always wanted to try. The doughnut was nice and lighter than a regular one. The croissant was flaky and really nice but the matcha-white chocolate type topping was too sweet for me personally. I'll definitely be back for more bamboo shoots and fermented foods!

My friends who live locally love this place, as they get access to a vast range of fresh produce - especially the aubergine, fenugreek, and garlic - yes the garlic is also cheaper here than other places, the coriander and mint are also very fresh and lasts longer than other places I have bought from. You can also get samosa's naan and other classic indian ingredients for all your cooking needs. Whats refreshing about this place is that it exists! Petts Wood has a lot of large franchises, such as Sainsburys, Iceland Morrisons etc...so its good to have a local business around the corner with more authentic produce. Hurrah for local business!

But, if you don't want to choose, you might as well order two kinds of wraps as the prices of one is very reasonable. Fascinating but couldn't really discern much from the Cyrillic though there were a few English signs up as well. As expected, lots of preserved fish and meats in the fridge section. As I was determined to buy something, I asked the advice of the nice girl behind the counter and left with a piroshky - bread filled with meat. Need to return with a Russian friend.

Never the less, a great place to get some authentic Russian goods, including meat I definitely wouldn't expect on the dinner table...
