I…read morehave stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last several years for business, as has my husband, but that has come to an abrupt end after our last couple stays there. Most recently, after eating breakfast in the painfully slow hotel restaurant, we had arranged for a late checkout to accommodate our business in town which the front desk attendant graciously said was not a problem (she was not the owner). We walked down the hall to our room at around 9:30 a.m. and the female owner was there already cleaning the bathroom and such. We explained that we would be checking out but it would be later in the day, which she seemed to understand (her English sucks, which could be part of the problem). When we returned to our room around noon, we started to gather our things to leave. My big mistake? Using the bathroom one last time before we headed out. Suddenly there was a knock at our door and the female owner was standing there looking at me like I just pissed on her mother's grave or something. She proceeded to lecture me on how the room was already clean and we weren't supposed to use the facilities if we were checking out that day. She was upset that I had used the toilet because now she would have to go back and do it again! This was going to set her back, what, maybe 45 seconds, but she had absolutely zero problem with alienating a good past customer over something that was so ridiculously minimal...it wasn't as though I had ransacked the room. She raised her voice at me and you can bet your ass I raised mine right back. I told her I was appalled at the treatment and would be reviewing the hotel online. She said she didn't care, but perhaps she will be a little more attentive when reviews such as this start impacting their business. What a total lack of customer service at a small establishment that probably can't afford to absorb these unfortunate acts committed by the owners. You just don't treat people like that when you are a business owner! While I'm at it, I may as well spill about the stay before the one mentioned above. We again were out of our room at breakfast and returned to the same woman cleaning other rooms around ours. Our room had already been made up, but the door was left wide open-not cracked-WIDE OPEN!!! This was a busy weekend in town and the hotel had to be full or close to it, and there sat our bags, left unattended with the door totally ajar. We had cash and jewelry in those bags, but you can bet your bottom dollar the hotel would have claimed no liability had one of the many passers-by decided to help themselves to our belongings. When confronted, the woman acted like we were the ones being unreasonable. We should have learned our lesson at that point I suppose! Pass this place by. Havre is only 20 miles and it's worth the drive to stay at a place that projects a little more respect for their customer relationships. The Best Western or Super 8 are good choices, as I work in the area about 3 days per month.
