Everytime I enter this hospital I am treated awfully like my issues aren't real and like I am not human. There is a blonde triage nurse that is unprofessional and aggressive who sighed like she was annoyed after every word I spoke, and told me it's hard behind the desk too. She also did not give any painkillers or offer anything to aid the pain. I watched her shake a patient with a broke shoulder awake. One of the doctors dismissed a condition I told him I had previously been diagnosed with a week before and told me that he didn't believe I had it, then the test came back positive. Every time I am here I sit for hours (8pm-10am) with absolutely no clue what's going on and when I ask I am rudely turned away. I was even once told I was hitting a vaporizer and told to go outside because the room smelt fruity, I assure you I was not nor do I possess such a device. My issue is not with the long times but rather the lack of professionalism and bedside manners that some of the workers exhibit. The hospital is the last place I want to be and to be treated so awfully when I am in pain and seeking help is disappointing and frustrating. I would highly suggest avoiding this hospital if possible and driving the 2 hours to Calgary. read more

First rate service in the Day procedures. Check-in ahead of time. Met a wonderful young nurse names Melissa who got my vitals and made sure I knew the procedures. Met a nice young Male Nurse Chris who was friendly and helpful. Dr Szobota introduced himself and made sure I was comfortable. Met a couple other nice young nurses, sorry, can't remember your names, probably the med's. In and out ahead of schedule experiencing nothing but professionalism all the way. For decades now my family and friends ALL have had THE worst experiences at CRH. One contracted flesh eating while having a hernia operation. One was IN cardiac arrest while the ER nurse's made fun of this person for putting head down on knees while but in the air. One was tied to bed, yes TIED to the bed while in cardiac arrest. Thank GOD Dr. Jansen the hero was still working. Another, had/has severe migraines from cyst on brain. Usually sent away feeling like a drug addict searching for next fix. I am TERRIFIED something bad will happen to me and I will have NO choice but go there. It feels like a death sentence. Alberta Government NEEDS to look into this matter and make SERIOUS changes. What is sad, is I have met some amazing physicians and quality nurses, it's the OTHERS that stick out. read more

I went in with a severe sore throat and productive cough (after getting a negative covid test) because it wasn't going away and was only getting worse. I waited 3 hours before getting called in. The doctor saw me for two minutes. He didn't listen to my lungs or order a chest x-ray. He didn't even come into the room he leaned on the door frame. All he did was swab my throat tell me it was strep and sent me home. Next day it was getting way worse so I went to a different clinic. They immediately diagnosed me with a severe sinus infection and lung infection after only listening to my symptoms and my lungs. I needed to get a very high dose of antibiotics. The doctors at Chinook Hospital only cared about getting me out to free up a bed. If I could give a negative amount of stars I would. read more

I'm not impressed with this emergency room. My wife was sick just before Christmas. We had no other choice on a Sunday but to go to the ER. They checked her out and sent her on her way with some anti nausea meds saying she had the stomach flu. 2 weeks later we are back, this time with severe stomach pains. They checked her out and couldn't find anything wrong so sent her on her way. 2 days after that she was back in the ER. This time having a heart attack. She has a history of heart issues and has had angioplasties 2 times over the years. All of the symptons she was suffering were common symptoms of an upcoming heart issue. Granted, these symptoms could easily have been something else. However, if the doctor had actually taken the time to review her medical history, he should have made the connection. This heart attack could have be avoided if they had acted sooner. In the end she is doing better after undergoing an additional angioplasty, but this could have turned out much worse. read more

I was there at the end of April for an asthma attack and was treated badly. I waited for three hours while I was having trouble breathing. The blonde nurse was treating me like I was faking it when I was not. The place was dirty as well when it was always kept clean several years ago. I kept telling this nurse that I need to get treated now as not getting better but nope she proceeds to have me continue to wait in the waiting area while having trouble breathing. I was in tears with frustration, the more frustrated I was the worse my asthma got. If I have to go to the er again and that very same nurse is there I will walk right I will not have her treat me like that again read more

I went to the emergency room on August 12th @1:30 am. I was in such agony, they said to give a urine sample, I couldn't hardly pee, plus I was so bloated from my bladder, plus constipated severely, and dehydrated. They took a sample from 2 drops of pee, said you have a very bad bladder infection, gave me a prescription and sent me home. I got worse, couldn't void, couldn't eat for 5 days and vomited for 3 days. By Saturday, I had to return to emergency, where I had a different ER doctor, had bloodwork done, put in a catheter, and finally admitted me, as my kidneys were operating at only 4%. I am lucky that my kidneys are on the mend. I think that the first ER doctor whom I saw, should NOT be in there. While on the 4th floor, a male nurse came at night, he was wearing some kind of musk cologne, it bothered me, they are supposed to be scent free. read more

Giving one star is generous. Worst service I've ever received by a place that is supposed to take care of you. The nurse basically called me stupid and told me to leave while I was in pain, wait was long which is understandable, nurse came back to get me and was incredibly rude, didn't tell me where I needed to go, I had to go grab a nurse from x rays. Overall awful experience, especially while in pain. read more
