There is a loft with gorgeous arched doors that open up to showcase a beautiful blue Minnesota sky and cloud---such a breathtaking vision. There is another building across from the bigger barn that you can utilize also. The restrooms were clean and modern. The outdoor space is never ending. The main barn inside lower level has a lot of wood and exposed stone --the space is large enough to house people yet remain intimate due to the aesthetic. No matter what your event, wedding, office party, family reunion, or photographer. This location is just waiting for you to bring your creative vision to it.

It did ***not*** disappoint at all. There's so much to rave about - let's start with the A+ location - you have so many conveniences within very close walking distance - Costco Aldi Cub McDonalds and 2 sit down restaurants. And there's even more food options a short walk away. Hands down one of the best things about this hotel. Upon check in, I noticed live music from the lobby and was informed there's hospitality weeknight Monday-Wednesday where a modest offering of food and entertainment is free to guests. Now is it extravagant food? Of course not. But the fact that any FREE hot food in the evening is almost unheard with other hotel chains. I think it's a tremendous offer for guests checking in around the dinner hour to have a light snack, if they choose, without having to immediately seek out dinner options. It's a really nice way to settle in first. The property is well maintained, as are the rooms. I found my king suite to be spacious with more than enough room for work and personal needs. The only feedback I have is sound between floors. I was woken up in the middle of the night by routinely loud neighbors upstairs, which was disruptive. I remedied it by turning the central fan on auto to drown out the sound. Breakfast offerings are decent and pretty standard for free breakfast. But seeing fresh blueberries was a treat and a welcome change. I also appreciated the to go boxes set out for those who needed breakfast on the go. I never see that at other hotels. I think it's the small and meaningful gestures that make Staybridge Suites a personal favorite of mine and why it's one of my hotels of choice when I travel. If I'm back in Rochester again, I'm staying here.

As we checked out after 2nd day add on, I put in a maintenance request to fix bath tub faucet issues. Made the mistake of NOT getting a copy of our bill. Next day, hubby looks at credit card, and there are pending charges for 1 extra day, charges for 2 extra days, and a charge for 3 extra days. Called at 10 am the next day (which would be day 3) and talked to Teresa, who said we stayed there 3 days. Explained the situation (we checked out yesterday and spent the night in Mankato), and she kept telling us we stayed another day. So, you're saying we checked out this morning? Anyways, Teresa doesn't believe us and sent hubby to the manager's voicemail, who she said probably isn't working over the weekend. Great. So, what was a nice visit has turned out "NOT so nice".

The room we got has a queen or king size bed and a pull out couch. There was one pillow for the pullout couch and one blanket. The pillow had make up stains on it - it was so dirty. The sheets on the pull out were so dirty we had to put towels down to sleep on. I called the front desk and the guy blamed it on Expedia (didn't use expedia), and said we got the wrong room, but didn't offer to fix the situation. There was a used gauze pad with blood on it on the bedroom floor. How could that not have been swept up?? Therez also a bandaid on the smoke detector. After a 7 hour drive up here and the emotional hell we're in right now, we didn't have the energy to fight it. Ill deal with it later next week when we get home. Thankfully this is a one night stay. There are literal blood stains on the pullout couch sheets, and all thats separating those from my kids are the towels we put down and the clothes they're sleeping in. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if my life depended on it. I use hotwire every time I travel (every one to two months, about 8-9 times a year. I have never stayed in a more disgusting hotel. We never got the pillow the desk clerk said was forthcoming to replace the dirty one. This is a Marriott hotel. I would never put my name on this hotel. I hope future travelers see this and think twice about this place. When you come to be close to the Mayo Clinic, youre here for a serious reason. The hotels that profit off of Mayo should consider this and understand that the customers need a place of quiet comfort they can retreat to. EDIT: A replacement pillow and a half (kid you not) finally showed up. I wish I were lying when I say the replacements had mascara all over it. I want to go sleep in my car. If I weren't here with my elderly mother and 2 children, I'd be in the car on the way to a different hotel. Pictures below are proof of everything I'm complaining about. Other things they need to fix that are more minor - how about more than one paper cup so everyone can have a drink? How about lotion in the bathroom? How about sweeping the floor?? This place is just disgusting.

All in all, it needed a little ketchup, but was tasty. We also got a choice of tots, fries or slaw with the burger, which is nice to see (and no upcharges for either choice). All in all, for under $20, we had a nice evening meal and got to enjoy a live band. The crowd is older, but the place is lively and efficient on the right nights. Don't be intimidated -- you may need to seat yourself once you walk in, we were a little confused when we walked in, but as we sat down someone took our order and things were smooth from there on it. A winter's farmer's market, hockey games, bull riding, flea markets just to name a few...but the big event every year is the Olmsted Country Free Fair and it is always a wonderful event to take your family to. You can get up close and personal with different breeds of pigs, cows, sheep, goats, horses...and talk to the people that are involved in raising them....I enjoy this very much. There is always a very competitive talent competition that will entertain and delight you....and let's not forget the corn dogs, lemon-aid and cotton candy.....oh yeah.....

When I picked the kids up they said there was no games, face painting or karaoke. They did turn on the bull but only long enough for them to each ride once. (There were less then 10 kids total there that night.) I asked the employee if he could turn on the bull before my kids left(they were the last ones there) and he said no. He needed to stay by the door. How can you run a tween drop off night if your employee is not allowed to leave the desk?

I did appreciate the friendly staff members and the many jugs of hand sanitizer available for use. It was our first time there and most likely our last!
