The shop here is lovely but is always staffed by people who seem irritated when they have to speak to customers. Very off-putting.

Douglas Hill Orchard is an absolute gem. The views alone are worth the trip--peaceful, quiet, and…read moretruly gorgeous. The Lucy family, who own and run the orchard, are incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience feel personal and special. They offer u-pick apples with several different varieties to choose from, and every tree this 2025 season is loaded with beautiful fruit. There's also a wonderful selection of pumpkins for sale, plus fresh apple cider that pairs perfectly with the crisp fall air. It's clear this orchard is cared for with love and attention. It's not crowded or commercial--it's family-owned, relaxing, and has the kind of charm you don't find often anymore. I can't wait to start baking apple crisps and pies with what we picked, and the apples are perfect for dipping in maple butter. If you're looking for a peaceful orchard experience with great fruit, friendly people, and breathtaking views, Douglas Hill is the place.

Run by the…read moredelightful Lucy family (and staffed by two accomplished young men), the Orchard has the most amazing views, and, although moderately busy, there was plenty of parking and lots of great apples. I was happy that I could bring my well-behaved dog and appreciated the strategically placed hand sanitizer stations and collegiality of other masked pickers. Great place for an afternoon of fresh air and local Maine produce, in a beautiful setting... oh, and cider and pumpkins and PIES too!

Get your pick on!…read more Had a fantastic time with the family picking early season raspberries, apples and peaches. The orchard grows a ton of different apple varieties so there's good picking during the full apple season. We got to choose between Zestar and Jerseymac apples during our visit. I'm a big fan of crisp and tart so the Zestars fit the bill. Peach picking was a bit of the same only fewer varieties. Raspberry picking was a fun new experience. You're essentially hunting and the fruit that is ready to be picked will slide off their cone-like cores. Since it was early in the season most of the berries were small or immature and there were a ton of bees buzzing around. I mean a ton where you'd go to pick and they would be buzzing around your hand. Don't worry though! The bees are friendly and indifferent to your picking the fruit. Just be gentle. Pro tip: come on a day where there's a breeze. We went on a still day in August and it was hot! 90 minutes in the sun and we were feeling pretty crunchy.
