This is a review from a person who eats tons of Chipotle in the USA Well, this is definitely different from USA's Chipotle. The process/format is the same but it is different. The interior of the St Martin's Lane branch (a stone's throw from Leicester Square) is minimalist, with bar stools against a large metal table and a small basement with individual tables and chairs. The same process that we follow here (USA). I ordered a chicken bowl (I asked for extra rice and beans and seems they were not ready for that, lol ) No of items were way less than what we get here, but they did a decent job. Absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. One of the workers blew in both of his gloves to open them up before refilling the food containers, and then I found a hair that definitely did not belong to me in the food. The site says "closed today" and that's just incorrect. But it almost felt like it was. I understand the Covid concerns stopping them opening downstairs and making us all sit upstairs - but it's communal. And it was that or the rain. It's grim. It's worse. Some kid kicking the footrest over and over again at the other end of the table making me feel ill made my experience unpleasant, the Deliveroo* driver hovering and the longest Deliveroo* order ever interrupting the entire production line made my experience unpleasant. None of the light beer, none of the sauces on the side (again, I get the Covid concerns, but there was no indication I could even request these to be added). It felt less safe here than anywhere I've been, and I know Covid will be everything they quote when faced with this review, but I've not been to Chipotle since 2019 (because of Covid) and this entire experience was unpleasant - least of all because every masked member of staff had the mask under their nose (one moved it up with his gloves on at one point), and many just on their chin. I know, I know. It's a chain, and a US chain at that. But a Chipotle fan is a Chipotle fan, and I'm grateful that I can get my fix of their cilantro-lime rice in the UK. This branch in particular has been great. The space isn't the best and quite tiny, but there is enough space between the top, bottom, and outside seating areas. When I had an issue with a piece of meat accidentally finding its way into my veg burrito, they rectified it right away and quite noticeably their staff are very careful with scooping. I've tried other branches that have more stale ingredients and not as friendly of staff. This one has very nice staff every time I go, and it actually helps in creating a comfortable, enjoyable atmosphere. My go-to Chipotle branch! read more

A burrito is a bit like sex, even when it's bad it's still good. Thankfully though the burritos at Chipotle are like good sex. My burrito sampling passion has taken me to many bits of the world I would otherwise have never ventured into, so when I saw the reviews for this place which by comparison is on my doorstep I had to stop by and see if I should believe the hype. The creation of your burrito goodness follows the standard protocol of moving along the counter selecting ingredients for your server to add as you go. Despite always watching like a hawk I've never spotted where they slip in the burrito magic but you can rest assured that they are adding some here at Chipotle. Perhaps it is baked into the tortilla? Anyway, I digress. The big make or break aspect of a burrito for me is the meat. We had a carnitas burrito and a chicken one and the meat in both was great. The pulled pork was tender and juicy and the chicken came in nice chunks which had been marinated in manna from heaven. The other ingredients were good too, with all the flavours coming through. There are 3 salsa options and I chose hot, which didn't really live up to my expectation. I like hot salsa to create a sensation similar to shovelling plasma from the surface of the sun into my mouth, but no such luck here. I do have a bit of an asbestos mouth though so your mileage may vary. Bottom line is that it may be considered a little pricey, but it's still top notch fast food. It's not as good as you will find in the Mission District, but the tube doesn't run to San Francisco and you wouldn't have enough on your oyster card even if it did. Burrito aficionados should stop by, you won't be disappointed. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this Chipotle yet! It is quite simply my favourite place to get fast food in the city. I first fell in love with Chipotle when I was on a road trip in America and we stopped in at a service station. I'd had a few too many unhealthy fast food lunches by that point and fancied something a bit lighter; a Chipotle salad bowl seemed the perfect option. It blew my mind, and when I moved to London and one opened just down the road from my work I was ecstatic! I always get the chicken salad bowl with LOADS of veg and of course guacamole, it is absolutely delicious. If I'm having a bad day at work and want something to cheer me up I will go to Chipotle on my lunch break. It works in the same way as a cup of tea for me, making everything just a tiny bit better. read more

Let's start this review with some truth. I live in Hawaii. Hawaii has no Chipotles. Not only is this a travesty, but it's such a depressing fact. The only times I've ever been able to partake of the guacamole covered goodness that is their burrito bowls have been the times I've been in California, which have not been nearly enough to satisfy my insatiable hunger for quick, quality Mexican food. That is why this Chipotle was like a beacon of light cutting through the night sky and signalling my inner fatboy when I exited the Leicester Square station. The store is clean, the staff are polite, and the service is excellent. And my burrito bowl was without doubt the exact thing I needed to quell my craving. For those who have yet to experience a Chipotle restaurant, you're able to build a burrito or bowl to your liking by customizing what ingredients (rice, beans, proteins, salsas, etc.) you want included. Just make sure you add some guacamole to your order! Yes, it's relatively expensive fast food. Even more so when comparing the prices back in America. But you know what? I don't care. The food was just as good as I remembered it being...albeit thousands of miles away from where I'm used to. read more

YAS YAS YAS. I use to be all over a burrito, But recently for me, this place is all about the SALAD!!! I use to fear it wouldn't be filing... But trust me it is and yummy. All the goodness you can get in a Burrito laid on top of a bed of crunch lettuce. Very yummy, little expensive (£7-8) so only go here as a treat. I know you pay for the guacamole, but their standard portion sides need a little work sometimes. A drizzle of sour cream, a little sprinkle of cheese yet a mountain of guac.... This is a chain and boy is it a chain! A recent visit to NYC showed them almost as numerous as Starbucks. However, this was my first visit to any Chipotle. I have to confess I love Benitos Hat, so Chipotle had a fair amount to live up to. This is my assessment. Decor: this is a.fast food joint with mostly a big table for single or side by side eating. It is pretty functional and therefore I wouldn't be inclined to linger over a margarita. Benitos is a little more comfortable in that respect. Service: brisk but friendly. I got a "Hola!" Food: I had the carnitas burrito. It was fine, but I found the carnitas (pulled pork) less intense in flavour than ones at BH. All told though a perfectly good burrito. I have been DYING to find a decent burrito place in London. Together with a friend of mine, we have developed a little tradition - whenever we go to the theatre together, we grab a burrito beforehand. Gotta love a tradition, right?! Well we did it twice and got annoyed. There were NO decent burrito places in London, none anyway that you could get decent food at a low price and quick enough to also make the theatre without inhaling your food. So, we plumped for one last try with Chipotle - it's a chain so surely something about it has to be good?? right? RIGHT! We wandered in on Friday at 6.30 with no queue and loads of free tables. Uh oh, we thought. Well we were wrong! Not a huge selection (if you don't want burritos) but a great variety of salad and sauces to put on it. Bit expensive (you're looking at £10 for a large burrito and a Corona) but Dear Lord it is SO GOOD to taste a burrito where you can actually taste of all the individual flavours. Normally they taste like salt (especially with pulled pork) and refried beans, so mush. Yum, that is not. I had medium spicing, perfect for those who like a touch of chilli heat without it overpowering anything. Even my friend (who doesn't like coriander) enjoyed her meal, bulked out with fragrant coriander rice. All in all, we were happy. And perfectly filled to enjoy a cultural night out - well we can try and be cultural anyway! read more

I've tried almost everything they offer with either beef or chicken and everything is good. If you have never tried it before, do give it a try. I've been a fan of Tortilla for a while now and so was a little apprehensive about trying somewhere else in case it just didn't meet my expectations. I didn't need to worry though. Chipotle is great. It's more expensive than tortilla but you get more for it. It's probably actually slightly better value. There's also more choice here. I went for the carnitas bowl and couldn't believe how much meat I got. I like this option as burritos can get messy (it's half the fun I know!) and I didn't want to drip down my outfit when I was out for the evening. My friend had the tacos and was impressed with them too although the meat had so much liquid in the sauce that by the time she got to get last one, the crispy taco shell had gone soggy and it fell apart. Still delicious, just even more messy! I will definitely eat here again and try out more of their menu. The only thing is wish they did was guacamole as standard but nowhere seems to do that. read more

Deliveroo failed us and we had a hankering for burritos. Placing an order online was easy and I walked over in a couple of minutes. Headed to the front of the queue (only a couple of dirty looks) and paid. The burritos were then made and labeled with individual names and handed over in a sack. Service was with a smile. The burritos were still hot when we got back and massive. My steak was nicely cooked but I question the guacamole, there was a lot and make no mistake, but there was a giant slice of avocado that hadn't been mashed at all. It was good, but unexpected. It's a happy, buzzing fast food joint. Staff are super- friendly. The food is fresh and there are no fries (hooray) because that's not Mexican. Seating is at raised benches, in a galley, so its a lot like Wagamamas. And they have a license so you can enjoy a beer (£3.65) or margarita (£4.35). I've enjoyed the burritos both visits. This Chipotle is quite small and off the beaten track. However it hosts the same wipe clean, Mexican brown/cream décor that you'll find in most... in fact just like even the ones I visited in NYC and San Fran! and the same food options that you find in all. Well at least you know what you're getting; right!?! One tip for this restaurant is that there is also lots of downstairs seating, even if it does feel a bit school canteen down there, so you don't need to sit at the high stools upstairs. Chipotle do some of the best burrito's in London I think. They're around £6-7 each depending on your fillings and extras. I like that you're burrito won't be soggy, that the contents are fresh and you know what you're getting - the same as you would in any of their chain stores, a filling tasty meal that's one of the best great fast food option's out there. I personally love that they have Negra Modello, one of my favourite beers of all time, a darker more caramel version of normal Modello. It's the best beer for burrito eating by far, and I'd recommend that you splash the extra cash to round off your meal this way. They also have a great selection of hot sauces to suit any palate. Do watch out however as they charge £1.40 (or around that price), for guacamole, which I think is a rip off. read more

I love Mexican food and it seems really hard to get Mexican food in London. I'm told it's because Mexico isn't a neighbor like it is to the US - fine fine, I'll admit that makes sense so I can't be too critical. But I do miss being able to get a burrito the size of my head, fresh guacamole, never ending chips and a beer for about $10. I went here for lunch because I work in Covent Garden (so it's convenient) and thought I could use a little American fix. Food was good, no real complaints. Pretty much your typical Chipotle. A little skimpy on the portions for how much you're paying but some will say that's just my American opinion. read more

'Meh' is exactly how I would describe Chiptole, Burritos have become a weekly lunch option for me and I have worked my way through quite a few different ones in London. So amazing, some good and some like Chipotle...the definition of average. Firstly, their is Benitos Hat about 20m away, this place is much better, better value, bigger burrito and just all round nicer. Whilst we are on naming the best...Daddy Donkey, Chilango, Tortilla...all better. I think Chipotle has fallen into the usual trap...it's a chain, that has failed to keep up with it challengers, and just relies on it's name. It's a shame as the potential is there, but for one of the more pricey burritos, it doesn't come close to justifying that price. It's nice, but it's just not as nice as it should be. These guys need to up their game and stop relying on their...a route far too many brands go down! Don't follow the brand name people...there are better Burritos out there! read more

I ate here twice while visiting London from the US. I love that this chain is available, and in such a convenient location. I ate here at lunch time on a weekday and on a Saturday for dinner, and didn't have a wait either time. Four stars because they don't have Sofritas :(. But if you get a veggie bowl, the guac is free. Still pretty expensive compared to US prices (1.5x the cost). Also the fajita veggies were a little burned, but overall it was good and close to what I'm used to from the US. read more

Putting aside my Americanness- this chipotle filled my wish for Mexican food in London. The rice is a bit less fluffier than American rice but it was still delicious. If you've been to Chipotle elsewhere then this one is no different. If you haven't been to one then what are you waiting for? Chipotle is so far above other fast food restaurants it's a travesty to put them in the same category.
