Horrible service and bad food. 20 minutes for a drink. Nearly an hour for sub par foods.

El Bandido - Embarrassing

El bandido? Yes they are bandits ready to rip you off. I'm shocked reading the 5 star reviews,…read morey'all never had real Mexican food. This was the most appalling Mexican food I've had in my life. The Quesedilla is small for £8. Who charges extra for chicken? Extra for prawn I get, but for chicken!?Served in a plastic tray. Barely any cheese, its supposed to be cheesy stringy pulling apart the cheese. The chicken was some pathetic little scrap pieces. Then they put salsa inside the Quesedilla. Dumb move. This is supposed to be outside. As such, There was water dripping from the Quesedilla, probably from the tomatoes. Never had a wet quesadilla before. It wasn't even served warm. My 10 year old niece can make better than this I'm sure. The menu is so limited, just tacos, Quesedilla, and burrito and some sides. This isn't even tex mex. No pork on the menu, Mexicans eat a lot of pork you know. There's nothing authentic about this dump. You're better off going to Taco Bell around the corner.

I popped in here for supper after a night an arena show…read more The food was exceptional! I'd just returned from a week in the USA and the Burrito and Fries I had here was equal to anything I'd eaten in the States. The owner is a young man, very friendly and committed to explaining the menu to visitors and making them feel at home. The food is all fresh cooked and tasted great. It's well priced at less than a tenner a head for a main meal with fries and a drink. The portions are very generous too. If I lived locally I'd definitely visit here more often!

Great food, great staff. Tasty modern Mexican!…read more Cocktails were well made too. Ambience was fantastic. Staff deserve extra recognition - we came with our 3 and a half month old and they were very accommodating . Even let us stay beyond our allocated time which was super appreciated. Well done guys!

Very modern with nice soft Jazz music playing in rhe background. The place was packed on a Tuesday so we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The bartenders were very knowledgeable on the selection of while and even allowed me to taste a view before choosing one. We then moved to a table that had opened up. We had the guacamole and a prawn starter first. The guacamole was nice although I'm not a fan of the toastadas that came with it. To hard for my taste and at first it only cma e with three huge round ones. Of course we needed more and they did bring it but it's odd that they wouldn't just bring It in the first place considering the amount of guac. The spicy prawn starter was delicious bur quite spicy for me. Then we tried the lamb taco and the fish tacos. Came with 2 in each. amazing tacos! Very flavorful and quite filling. Especially the lamb. My favourite part of the meal was the tuna tapas. I can't remember tge name but Omg they were sooo good! I think there was a truffle flavor but not overwhelming. Honestly a must try. Very nice place and affordable. Would return.

Walk by a few times and finally get to try this out. It looks lovely all the time so I'm curious…read more Boy was I disappointed. First impression when I sit down was bad. Because the waiter acted so confused when my friend who was there before me wants a drink before I arrived. His movement was so slow i thought he's giving us attitude but I didn't want to raise it cus maybe that's how he operates. he stood there and wait for us to move the utensils away so he can pick up our plate is a bit weird but when he give us a long eye shut when we ask for new utensils, that's when I know he's really giving us sass. I know I sound mean but tbf I don't mind helping the wait staff out but if you just stand there and expect me to arrange the table, you would be a little surprised too, right? Tell me I'm not crazy. The food was alright. Tuna Tostada was almost £10 and it was so small you can barely taste it before you even finish the whole thing. Cochinita pibil (taco) - meat portion was relatively big but each dish only get two tacos so it barely fill me up. Steak taco - steaks are dry but the cheese on top added points to it Carnitas taco - alright. Can't go wrong really. Anyway, I'd really enjoy it if the staff wasn't rude because the outdoor seating with the sun always keeps me in a good mood but it's a shame that the wait staff was not giving.

Fish and Chips (what, is that Mexican? or Texan? nope just generic) - tick. It's a massive space as well, and when we were there, there were only 4 other tables. Which made it feel like one of those towns on the Mexican border, where tumbleweeds are blowing and the townsfolk are hiding behind swinging doors. Them ones. Yup, just really average, and really boring. Didn't like this brand of tequila 'n' Tex 'n' Mex very much.

I fully intended to come back for dinner, but everything on the menu sounded good and I had skipped lunch. I opted for a burrito to take back to the hotel with me. When I got back to my room and opened up the bag, I couldn't believe how big the burrito was! Wow. As for the flavor? It wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite Mexican food. It's kind of a fusion .. of what, I'm not sure. Regardless, it was a good burrito, the salsa was okay - not great. Chips were disappointing (store bought). I know I'm spoiled being from Southern California, I'm used to getting freshly made chips at most restaurants. I'd definitely eat here again. Expectations have been appropriately managed.
