We were hungry after a long day of travel and Chiquito was across the street from our hotel. I had the Chicken Baja Bowl, Pornstar Martini and the Brownie Baked Banana. I enjoyed my drink and dessert more than my entree.

    Churros. Delish!

As a a treat my better half decided to treat me to dinner..fancying Mexican food he suggested Chiquitos.. I was like nope ..lets try here.. I had not realised it relocation until he said it was round the corner from him.. Stepping in, the decor was spot on. Nicely spaced out tables, perfect lighting oh and doors on the ceiling.. The background music was epic for me, full of nostalgic hits from my youth ahh. Immediately we were greeted and seated by a kind waitress who was a little too keen taking our drink order but then returned after a few minutes. For those that don't drink there is a plentiful innovate mocktail menu amongst a good selection of beer, wine and cider etc. I chose a standard pino colada which was the perfect consistency and booze balance, Himself had a standard cup of tea which was served in bone china :) The menu itself is varied too, it ranges from Mexican, Thai to Brazilian. Knowing by now not to not have eyes bigger than my belly I settled on a Seafood Stew served with rice and beans. Himself selected the beef strip burrito. The quantity of seafood in mine was plentiful. It contained fresh tasting prawns, whitefish, green lipped mussels and squid. It was similar to a Thai soup but thicker and went well with the accompaniments. He was very pleased with his burrito, I was too full to try any of his . Finally we checked out the desserts, I was slightly let down as it lacked churros :( so we passed and enjoyed a liqueur coffee instead. Overall, the food was fresh and tasty and averagely priced. The service was very attentive with friendly staff asking at the right times if everything was okay. Oh and they had lolly pops on the way out...winner.. Would I be back? Yes certainly.

I had the Hungry Gaucho which is basically a burger but that doesn't do it justice - the burger patty is topped with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, bacon and cheese and was astonishingly good. Served with fries which very nice if a little bit too salty for my taste and onion rings. Sparky went for the lamb tagine - not something we were expecting to see on the menu since someone had described the place to us as "steak and burgers". The tagine was great and the lamb practically melted in your mouth. It gets very busy here very fast, so book a table if you're coming. A little bit on the noisy side, and the drinks aren't cheap but the food is definitely worth it.

As usual I have to look at the menu before hand to see whether it would" fit my vibe and I had a hankering for Mexican style food so this was my first option when I knew I was going to the city. The restaurant is in the trendy northern quarter of Manchester, on one of the streets that has been closed off so restaurants can have outdoor seating... and they look great ... I'd love to go back later in the day and enjoy a few drinks and some food when it's evening. Back to this visit ... I walked passed around 1130 because in my head I thought it opened at that time ... but it opens at 12 ... but it was good for me to find the building, have a last look at the menu and make a decision on the food I was going to have. When I went back at opening time (I always find it useful and handy for me to get entry into a restaurant when it's open ... it's a lot harder and more illegal when it isn't ) I was the first customer. I waited a little bit while the staff were getting everything sorted, went straight to a table and within minutes the lovely server came over to take my order. I went for the chicken blasts (Korean bbq flavour ... which from looking back at their name and flavour .. I should have realised something), the Birria burrito and the Fanta (wasn't feeling like a boozy drink this time). My order got put into the kitchen and I just had to wait for it then ... the server came back over and apologised my drink was taking a bit to arrive as another member of staff had to go get ice ... but to be honest, I wasn't waiting too long and I honestly didn't mind. When my order came I looked it over and it looked DELICIOUS. I started with trying the chicken and it was so tasty and crunchy and perfect ... and then the heat kicked in (but it was fine ... I'm just not used to heat). So there I was, restaurant getting busier, and me sat there looking at the window ... crying in public (not crying crying but heat tears) ... thank god for that ice. Went to my burrito and the beef was to die for ... there was a nice crunch to it's contents, and there were fries inside which I've never had before and it was just amazing. 3 napkins and Niagara Falls worth of tears later, I had finished ... ice in my mouth to try and quench the heat. The server apologised again for taking so long with the bill but to be honest, it was my fault for not saying I wanted it and it had got busy so, again, I was fine with it ... I had plenty of time. All in all it was a great visit, great food, awesome and very lovely staff ... 10/10 would go back again.

I've seen the business advertised on a bbc show with Ainsley before so always knew about it, but this was my visit visit. Walked around the Arndale market to see about the place and it looks really good ... a proper street food authentic Mexican unit with all the ingredients on display, a cabinet full of hot sauces and chilli sauces and authentic Mexican items. It was great. I made my order through deliveroo to collect as I'm always a bit shy when ordering at a new place for the first time .. so order to collect on an app is perfect for me. I ordered the chicken tinga tacos (which were corn tacos so gluten free) and added tofu (for a cost) and had free toppings of soured cream, cheese, chipotle sauce and salad, and a bag of tortilla chips. The order came in an awesome branded paper bag and it was huge. The tacos were at the bottom and looking inside the bar, I didn't realise how big the tortilla chip bag was The food was great ... the container was filled to the brim and was so delicious. The salad was crunchy and fresh, the chicken came in big chunks and was delicious, the tofu was the best tofu I've ever had and they had rice on the tacos too. 10/10 would go back and recommend to anyone .. I need to try the burritos or burrito bowls next time .. or just have one of everything as it was so good .. and in the city centre too so if you're around and you want authentic, delicious, fresh Mexican food .. this is the place. (They even sell merch of the shop and things like Mexican wrestling masks and tomatillos and so much more)

It's noticeable how different the filling is from the identikit Chipotle-style burrito places elsewhere - I'm not sure if this is actually more authentic but it sure is a nice change. Will be back. We dine at Chiquitos on a semi regular basis so I thought that it was about time that I wrote a…read morereview! We made our pilgrimage on a Saturday night with the aim of having a quick dinner out. For those of you who are familiar with the location, you'll know that this is right next to the cinema; on a Saturday night, there was little to no chance that we would get a table quickly, but lets call it the hunger over-riding common sense. The wait was about 40 minutes (and usually we wouldn't wait, but we'd made our decision and didn't have the energy to want to go anywhere else). We were given a pager and pointed in the direction of the bar - added the drinks to the bill and found ourselves a table outside in the sun - by the time our table was ready I'd kind of forgotten that I wasn't just there for a drink! Now, onto the food - it's pegged as a Tex-Mex restaurant, and the menu is varied and quite wide ranging within that category... The Tex seems to mostly be burgers and ribs (with some chicken thrown in) and the Mex has some of the favourites; Burritos, Quesadillas, Fajitas and Enchilladas feature heavily, with a variety of fillings. I opted for the Peri Chicken fajita. These are served on a brilliant sizzle plate - a hunk of cast iron, heated until it's super hot, and your food is served on that - it's a great presentational piece, and it keeps everything nice and hot... The Fajita is served with sour cream, guac and salsa, with some cheese thrown in. You're expected to build your own - just the way nature intended. The portion is just the right size, and I was left pleasantly full. The restaurant has recently been re-arranged (rather than renovated) and hats have appeared. Yes, the good old Mexican 10-gallon is representing in the most stereotypical way you can think of! If you're heading to the cinema, you could do worse than Chiquitos.

It's been a long time since I've dined here and it was only because I had a discount offer we decided to try it again, as mentioned above it always starts so well. We were seated quickly and a drinks order taken. I perused the extensive menu, all the dishes sounded mouth wateringly tempting and the prices make you think "hmmm must be good if they can get away with charging that!" But then the food arrives and it all starts going horribly wrong, we shared a starter of loaded potato skins, it was about £4.65 and it's basically a jacket potato, cut in half with some cheese and sour cream and a little bit of bacon should you want it. They taste like they were prepared about a week ago in some Mexican sweatshop, this must be one of the highest mark ups in history for one potato and a sprinkle of cheese, the speed at which it came suggest that they are kept in create next to the 'secret Mexican spices'. For the mains we had what was supposed to be a succulent breaded chicken breast, cooked in authentic spices. What it looked like was some deep fried brown puck and the palest chips, my Nan would have been ashamed to serve that plate to someone. We also had BBQ Chicken fajitas and at nearly £14.00 I was expecting something good, apart from the drama which is the dish being brought sizzling to your table... the taste is mediocre. The BBQ sauce is too sweet and really there was only enough chicken for two pieces per (small) wrap. I like most things in wrap form so I can't say that I didn't enjoy the meal, but had I been paying full price I think that may have made me more disappointed. Dessert came in the form of what was called a Warm Brownie Stack, this was barely warm and was not stacked, just your bog standard brownie really. The brownie tasted dry and the ice cream was low grade. We also had the Churros which were cooked properly although they no longer serve with a maple syrup option, just chocolate and toffee, which were ok if again over sweet. I will say that our waitress was very friendly and efficient; she was really easy to chat to and could not be faulted at all. Due to the location of this Chiquitos, most of the diners are here on their way to the cinema rather than people travelling far and wide for the experience. Chiquitos are aware of this and charge as much as they think they can get away with whilst serving processed unauthentic food. If you are wanting authentic Mexican food, then do not dine here, the authenticities end with the name of the dish, if you want somewhere with a lively atmosphere, walking distance to the cinema and don't mind paying the premium for the privilege, then it may be suitable option.

Its impressive outdoor area blends seamlessly into the bar itself when the large front doors are opened; something that's happening a lot in this uncharacteristic heatwave and something DesignMyNight were very grateful for when we settled in for a balmy teatime treat. The Venue Dubbed as 'a beer house with a dining room', The Beagle offers sumptuous surrounds with artwork peppered walls, rough 'n' ready exposed brickwork and perfectly polished dark wood. It's an eclectic mix of traditional and quirky but it works, and while its front terrace makes for the perfect suntrap in the summer months, you can see how the interior would be comfortingly cosy when those cold nights start to draw in. It's also proud of its dog-friendly status, and we couldn't help but coo and squee when (aptly enough) a tiny beagle puppy wandered through the bar (on a lead, of course). A variety of cushioned benches and booths line the walls with plentiful seating at the bar, alongside smaller tables set up with dining chairs. It all feels delightfully relaxed and homely. Clientele and Atmosphere You'll find everyone in The Beagle from the aforementioned dog walkers to young urban professionals, yummy mummies to creatives with laptops... it offers something for everyone. It boasts live music, DJs, beer festivals, 'Meet the Brewer' events relating to their impressive array of craft beers, food nights and more. Keep an eye on their website for their latest goings-on. Another aspect of The Beagle adding weight to the idea of each visit feeling different is the fact that rather than a static food menu, a Guerilla Eats food vendor caters the place each week to provide seven days of deliciousness before another takes their place. Food & Drink Our visit took place during fried chicken week, and the descriptions on the temporary menu had us salivating before we'd even ordered anything. A staple buttermilk fried chicken base founded each dish, which would then become a burger or salad. The New Yorker with crispy maple bacon and cheese was a no brainer, and its £8 price tag seemed far too reasonable for a meal not only tantalisingly tasty but large in portion size. Fries and homemade coleslaw came as standard, and two burger orders come with a free side of BBQ nachos which were fresh, crisp and delightful. As would be expected from the folks behind PSBH, there's a veritable Beer Bible on offer with bottles from far and wide and some guest ales too. The cocktail menu is small, simple and striking, and our mojitos were amongst the best we've had in Manchester and a snip at £6 each. Summary If you're a Chorlton-dweller, consider yourself lucky to have The Beagle within reach; if you're not, it's certainly a place worth travelling for (especially with those super quick trams as an option now). Can you think of anywhere else in Manchester that showcases street food as its main menu, and changes that menu so frequently? Every visit would be different, especially if you took it upon yourself to sample their entire roster of beers. While it's definitely one to look out for in the winter months, you should soak up as many rays as possible on their suntrap of a terrace now that you have the chance. We'll be back for some more Guerilla Eats, craft beers and tasty cocktails for sure.

But - on this visit I really enjoyed it! Meeting up with an old friend for some serious beer time, we had a few pints of excellent local cask and keg (there's about 12 to choose from) and then got down to choosing from their extensive Mexi/Tex-Mex menu. I'm not a fan of restaurant burrito's as I always think they're missing that authentic sloppiness that you get from 'shacks but my mate enjoyed his Baja fish one. I went for the beef nachos - awesome, just look at the snaps! They also do burgers, small plates and other bites and the ingredients are all fresh and pretty authentic - definitely this place ticks all the boxes when it comes to beer and food for me.
