This place is bare bones and small. Don't expect a lot for your money…read more The room barely fits a a queen bed. There is no TV, closet, dresser. There is a private bathroom. The room gets hot, I called down to ask for a fan. They have none. The window was wide open but had to keep the door open for cross breeze. (I am not sleeping with the door open) There is a bar next door which gets loud. There are no black out shades for 20hrs of sure light light. Bring some eye masks. Sound travels really well outside and in your window. You can hear people whisper outside. But cars driving by sound extra loud and will wake you up at night. Staff seems friendly. Check in was very easy just a confirmation and swipe of credit card. This place is pricey in the summer time. Which is understandable; but breakfast is included. Which helps digest the higher cost. Breakfast options: Eggs (any way) Wheat or white toast Meat: bacon, sausage, reindeer sausage. This place is special as it's only open 3 months out of the year with lots of history. This building was formerly a morgue and a brothel. The owner is very friendly. This is a very solid option to stop by and get some sleep (if you are not a light sleeper) and move on the road.

Everyone got something of everything from the menu and each plate came out at a different time and was lukewarm and tasteless. Like even the toast. How??? I got the snow crab cake bene and all I could taste was breadcrumbs. I thought maybe it's because it's in a small town, out of the way, but fishing season was starting so you'd think this place would have had it down by now. Wake up! Winter's over. Oh well. I'd been here last time I was through and it wasn't very memorable so next time I will try someplace new. Would pass up next time.

They have lived a very adventurous life and had some great stories to tell. Don't let the partially paved/partially dirt road stop you from staying here! We stayed in the Bear Cabin and our friends stayed in the Fishing Cabin. Both cabins were incredibly comfortable. The cabins had rustic wilderness decor with comfortable beds. Every morning started with an incredible breakfast cooked by hosts James and Cristina. We enjoyed huge home cooked breakfasts and great conversation with them. The property is beautiful and surrounded by mountains. Wrangell Mountain Lodge is the perfect place to experience the quiet serenity of Wrangell-St. Elias with modern comfort and conveniences. We didn't want to leave!!

Now, most of our phone info was with a Neil who was very informative. But, we had a driver named Jason and he just pointed out the 'accident sites'. We had to ask him questions to get info on the 5 hours in the van. We would prefer more history and wildlife talking. Once we saw a group with binoculars out, and he went past without stopping. We had been told of wildlife seen by others in their personal cars and the ad suggest wildlife along the way, so we will always wonder what we could have seen.
