I've been in for chocolate once recently and was not impressed. The "chocolate" tastes like Hershey and for the price- I'm glad I didn't spend a ton more money. The store is pretty- that's the only plus side. Staff is rude, store is small and cluttered. And Apparently needs to be caught correct customer service. No business owner should EVER call a child ROTTEN. You operate a candy store. You don't like kids? Don't want them touching your Hershey quality overpriced chocolate? Open a company that doesn't sell things that children and families with children will want to consume such product and spend time in. That plate of brownies that was "ruined" the mom offered to pay for, and you wouldn't have reacted that way if an adult knocked them over. And the kid did you a favor because they don't taste good at all. Saved you a few bad reviews for another bad product. Hopefully the bad publicity will shut you down eventually. Bad word of mouth spreads faster than good word of mouth. read more

This is the second time this has happened to me at this place. I called to place an order and have it shipped out. They say that they are no longer shipping out orders. I stated that it says on your website that is says you are. The lady said "i don't feel like it". I then explained who I was and how much we spent at there store last year for corporate functions and that we will be looking for a new supplier. She again stated "easier for us". Chocolate is good. They have many items that can be bought at the supermarket (Oreos, Nutter Butters, Marshmallows, etc.) covered in chocolate. Most of their candy is $20/lb. which is fairly inexpensive for a chocolatier. I tried their peppermint creams, strawberry cream and peanut butter cream. The peppermint and strawberry flavors were weak. The strawberry tasted very sweet and a little fruity, but not much like strawberry. The peanut butter is also intensely sweet. Their "zingers" are decent, caramel and peanut butter covered with dark chocolate and a salty peanut on top. If you're looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth and you keep your expectations in check (think boardwalk chocolates) this is a fine place to stop. read more

Bear with me here, I love this chocolate shop because they have peanut butter. I am not a fan of chocolate, but my boyfriend is. Typically his suggestion of visiting a chocolate shop is met with a big groan from me. Luckily Chocolate Lab can always accommodate my PB cravings, plus it's just a few blocks from my house so I can visit every time. WOW. Amazing selection of chocolates. I had their 6 piece truffle sampler which had 3 dark and 3 milk chocolate truffles in assorted flavors and a dark and milk chocolate cherry cordial. The chocolate was so rich and creamy without being too sweet or heavy. I also purchased the dark chocolate and almond bark for my mother, she was also blown away by how delicious the chocolate was. Service was great, the lady working that evening was very helpful and had great energy, I wanted to try everything in the store! If I could rate this a 3+, that's where I'd put Chocolate Lab. I think the name is totally cool, the store is adorable, and the service was extremely friendly. I put together a box that had 12 pieces and it ran about $15. Currently, I believe she said it was $19.95 per pound for the items in the glass case. I think that's kind of pricey. However, the truffles are huge giving you bang for your buck. The peanut butter truffles are good, the peanut butter filling is creamy, but lacks the intense peanut butter flavor. I also got a dark chocolate espresso piece that was very light on the espresso. Fine quality stuff in use here, but it just lacks that "OMG this is amazing" flavor. They did have a bunch of beautiful things for Easter--painted chocolate rabbits and eggs, plus chocolate dipped Peeps that were decorated with candies. My true issue with the store is the overuse of Oreo, Nutterbutter cookies, pretzels and marshmallows covered with chocolate. The sell packs of pretzels with all the same toppings, not one was a variety. I personally don't want 6 chocolate covered pretzels with coconut. I want to try 6 different flavors. To give an idea of price, 1 pretzel rod covered in chocolate with rainbow mini chips was $2. They do have some unconventional things covered with chocolate such as potato chips, fortune cookies, Pop Rocks and popcorn. I'd like to see more of that, with punched up flavors and I'd give this place 5 stars. read more

Walking around downtown Bethlehem any time of year is enjoyable but why not make it memorable by treating yourself to a chocolate from the Chocolate Lab? That is exactly what I did last weekend. Huz and I each got a different piece of chocolate; him the turtle and me the chocolate covered pretzel stick with sprinkles...and the giant chocolate covered smore on a stick. I'm shocked to hear people having a bad experience with customer service here. I've been going here for years (and bringing back my nephew) and everyone, including the owner, have always been nice. The chocolate is excellent (my fave: non pariels... my husband's: the sea salt caramels). I love the presentation and ambience of the shop and the creativity in the designs of the chocolates. It's a lovely place and I've taken many ppl there when we walk downtown and they have all loved it as well! Nice downtown spot! read more

A great place. I've been there 4 or 5 times over 4 years and the owner (usually working the register) has recognized me and chatted with me each time. Great chocolates, reasonably priced. Their hot chocolate might be the best I've ever tasted. The one I usually order is prepared the european way with solid dark chocolate melted into warm milk. read more

The chocolate at the chocolate lab is to die for. Arlene, the owner, puts her passion for her work into every piece of chocolate and it shows. I have not had a bad piece of chocolate from here. My wife and I were highlighting local Bethlehem businesses and we had several hundred pieces of chocolate from her at our reception for our guests. They still rave about it. Exceeded expectations. Drawn in by the chocolate covered bacon special, we were intrigued but didn't expect to bite at the opportunity. Undisclosed pricing throughout the store left us with the impression that the cost had to be exorbitant. Yet to the contrary, the treats were actually quite affordable. With an ice cream sandwich the size of a meal replacement for two clocking in a $6. When we learned the chocolate covered bacon was not some pithy piece of American bacon but a thicker meatier slab akin to British bacon for $3, we were sold. While enjoying this tasty treat, we observed the shop get busier. While the counter attendant was occupied with a customer, others lingered unable to inquire about the pricing of items they were interested in. They ultimately left, likely arriving at the same pricing assumption we had previously shared. Yet had they known the prices were actually quite reasonable, I suspect they may have stayed to complete their purchase. read more

I thought I would finally give this chocolate store a chance. Ever since I read the horrible review about children in the store on Facebook I was very edgy and skeptical about this store. Unfortunately the reviews were right, this shop is very rude and very uninterested in your business. I came into the store with two of my friends a few minutes to closing time, I was very well made aware of the closing time from all of the hints they gave us. As soon as we walked in the guy at the counter said we close in two minutes, hurry it up. I was completely astonished by this, they closed at 8 and they were trying to be as punctual as ever. When we had asked them about a certain chocolate or price they would roll their eyes and say they don't have time to keep talking. It got to the point where one of the clerks was actually standing at the front door with the key in it and said the signs are all flipped. I was completely taken aback by how rude the clerks were and I will never be coming back again, the only reason they actually got a two star review is because the chocolate was very good. read more

I went to this store during Bethlehem's Harvest Fest. I am allergic to dairy so I asked the woman working what was safe for me. She rudely said "I don't recommend anything" when I have spoken with the owner before and know there are dairy free products. I proceeded to begin to order, only to have the woman rudely tell me that she wanted to finish helping another customer first. Honestly, I will not go here again. I have found that Vegan Treats has better tasting goods and the service is always wonderful. read more

They have interesting chocolate creations, but it is not, by far, the best chocolate I've had. There are other 'retail' chocolates that are now available in many stores that are better chocolate. There is nice, fancy packaging and interesting combinations of ingredients, if that's what you're looking for, but the overall quality of the chocolate is not worth the price, at least not for my taste. You're better off getting something that combines a lot of different ingredients vs tasting more of the chocolate itself. Like a few other local businesses that unfortunately come up a bit short, I wanted to like it more than I do. read more
