The only negative was the decor and ambiance, but that's a personal taste. I found it lacking on intimate atmosphere with plenty of flat, dark wood surfaces to keep it sterile. We also ate quite late which meant it was likely much quieter than normal...a bonus from the perspective of us middle aged people that don't necessarily enjoy crowded restaurants. He has never had lobster so this was his chance…read more The waiter was great when he arrived. he was detailed, and was really trying to answer any questions before ordering. he was clear about the specials. Our meal arrived after waiting for some time (to be expected with 5 larger plates). This is where things fell apart. The first thing I noticed is a smell. It was a really bad smell. It smelled like a dirty wash rag, that had been sitting wet for some time, but a hint of ammonia from soap? I was trying to locate the smell, but i was one person away from my boy with the lobster. I was suspecting that as being the cause. However i did not want to trouble anyone, or disturb their dinner. I then tried my "prime rib sandwich". Now being a prime rib freak, this had no resemblance to prime rib. it tasted like a beef sandwich. I thought to myself "if this is prime rib, what a waste". This type of bun with beef is worth only half of what was charged. and that would be still high. I causally asked around at the table to see how others felt, and the next person beside me had the keg burger. she said it was super greasy and she was trying to eat it, but it was a challenge. the next person i asked, also had the same as me, the prime rib sandwich. he said, "its OK". but he would eat cardboard and probably say that. He never complains about food. OK on his scale, is the bottom, but he would still eat it. LOL.. My older boy. So, after all this sub par food, the Keg supplied this type of Ice cream cake. I did not catch what they called it, but the birthday boy loved it. he said "The lobster was not really any good, but I really liked that cake after!" After I left, I talked to the wife about it, and it occurred to me, that maybe the lobster was not what it was suppose be. I asked her if she tasted it and she said "no". she would know if it was what it should be, and i wish she would of checked. maybe, our boy had a bad lobster, but he will never know, as his first lobster has now determined that he will never try it again. Then, the bill. Holly cow..... Way, Way overpriced for sub par experience. I could have better tasting food at Wendy's. The restaurant was busy, I cannot understand why people would waste their money for this. I saw no value. I feel we wasted our money, and had a really poor birthday experience. There was enough variety with our orders to know, there probably is nothing good on the menu that this amount of money even justifies. I have had, way, way better experiences somewhere else, I would recommend moving on to another business that maybe has pride in the quality of the food. I wish we never had this experience ......

Horrible, horrible company!!! Ordered some Asian Family plum sauce and was sent a completely…read moredifferent product from what was imaged on their website. When I enquired, I was told it was not their responsibility if the supplier sends them different products, that they have over 5000 items and cannot possibly keep track if the supplier sends something other than what they ordered. I said I did not want this product that I had paid $35 plus $20 in shipping and they advised that I could return it but would have to cover the cost of returning the products myself. I live in Ontario and they shipped from their Alberta location. /beyond that 2 of the bottles had been damaged in transit - or packed and shipped already damaged - and the sauce was leaked inside the shipping box. When I sent a photo of the item from their website and a photo of the product I received, they told me it was the same thing!! I see positive reviews from people who were in Lethbridge and shopped in their physical store so I actually believe they purposefully scam online shoppers and then refuse any responsibility. They should be fined and shut down for unlawful business practices!!!

Later, when following up by email, they refused to refund and told me there is nothing wrong with selling expired food. When I told them I would have to make a report with my credit card company, they told me I that was threatening. I would think stealing your customers money is far more threatening behaviour. I would recommend that everyone submit reports to the Canada Food Inspection Agency. They will close the business down if enough people report the selling of expired goods. Don't risk buying from Umami Shop.
